Review: Dexter - Hungry Man {TV Squad}

Nov 23rd 2009 10:10PM Personally, I've really enjoyed this season (while my wife sits beside me and groans, "he didn't even kill anybody this week!"), but I'm a little baffled as to why he didn't just orchestrate Mitchell's capture, especially when he found out Mitchell didn't shoot Deb. Dexter usually reserves his cutlery for people who have escaped the established justice system. The justice system hasn't had a crack at Mitchell yet, but surely Deb could make the case if some anonymous informant tipped her to Mitchell.

Review: Curb Your Enthusiasm - Seinfeld (season finale) {TV Squad}

Nov 23rd 2009 9:18PM I agree on both counts. And it's great to see, for the first time that I can remember at least, Curb leave something like that up to the viewer's imagination.

Having said that, I found the show good but not particularly funny. But they did mention something about doing something a little different. Still worked for me overall. Loved the ending.

And having said all that, it seemed like they had a good idea for the Seinfeld episode, so I would like to have seen the full episode.

Review: Curb Your Enthusiasm - Officer Krupke {TV Squad}

Nov 9th 2009 10:36PM This has not been the best season, but a great season nonetheless. I've actually found the non-Seinfeld episodes to be my favorites. When Larry wheeled Denise (?) Handicapped into the closet and slammed the door shut, that was one of the greatest moments in the Curb history.

Interesting thing (to me at least) is that some of the sillier things that have been done on Curb this season seem like things that would have been done, and worked better, in the more surreal world in which Seinfeld played out. Like the restaurant guy sending the cops after Larry for taking too many napkins. That gag would have totally worked on Seinfeld with George as the napkin thief.

Curb is my all-time favorite show, but one thing that has always baffled me, especially for a show that sprung from the mind of a comic genius like Larry David, is that a lot of the gags that haven't worked over the years, or felt forced, seem like things that could have been easily remedied with a few little tweaks. When we look at something and say, no way would this person or that person have done that, I always felt like a small tweak would have given the person a completely believable reason for doing it.

Nice insight on the part of the reviewer to notice the missed opportunity for Cheryl and the dredged up past.
