TUAW Video: a tour of Freeverse {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 4th 2009 3:59PM I was excited about this initially, but sorry, the video was kinda boring. Been a Freeverse fan for many years and know the Jared song by heart (not the $5 footlong one, either.) It wasn't much more than an ad for their new game. "Spending some time touring the (Freeverse) factory" != what's conveyed in this video.

I'd love to see more of a behind-the-scenes tour video about Freeverse, why they are crazy about monkeys, why there was a guy sitting at a desk with an umbrella over him. "Here's where we do x y and z." Where they are located in Brooklyn, and why they chose Brooklyn, because it's an interesting place.

Wash, rinse, repeat for other smallish companies who have the same vibe as Freeverse. I think those would be very interesting videos.

Save a little on your existing AT&T iPhone plan {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 25th 2009 10:24AM This is pretty bad. Research doesn't matter anymore, I guess. Big fail. Not even is the report old news, it's not correctly written. Erica, news to you != news to everyone else. A much better way to write this article would have been "Hey, look, the corporate discount is available if you don't have it, and here's how to sign up."

FWIW, my 22% corporate discount does include my iPhone data plans (I pay $23.40 for data a month). The sad part is that the 22% discount barely covers all the taxes and fees for our family plan.

Hell's Kitchen: Episode 3 - open thread {TV Squad}

Jul 29th 2009 10:09AM It's awful to say, but I watched about two minutes of this show last night on *mute*, and just from looks alone of these contestants, none of them look like chefs, full stop. Maybe that's a bit superficial, but on a reality show, these people need to look the part.

Now after reading this entry, I'll definitely stop DVRing it to watch later. The shouting is enjoyable, but I want to see Gordon work with actual good chefs who have half a clue. It's not fun to watch a crew that can't even put together a souffle.

Troubleshooting Roundup: Mac OS X 10.5.7 Update {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

May 15th 2009 3:37PM Whenever I shut my MacBook to send it to sleep, it doesn't really go to sleep, and the fan goes to its highest speed for no reason. When I try to wake it, the computer hangs on a black screen and I have to hold the power button to restart.

Did not happen in 10.5.6. This is the first bug in an update I've experienced in awhile.
