Review: Project Runway - Finale Part 2 (Season Finale) {TV Squad}
Nov 20th 2009 7:32AM As much as people disliked Irina's personality, they have to admit that she was consistent all season. She had a vision since day one and it was apparent. She edited her clothes well and they were well made. She's not someone you necessarily want to have coffee with, but she is someone with a future in fashion.
The Top Five Reasons Not to See 'New Moon' {Cinematical}
Nov 19th 2009 2:28PM I can't wait for the hype machine for this nonsense to shut down. Is there anything else going on in the entertainment world? Hell, even Jon and Kate don't annoy me as much as this tribute to teen age angst.
Why isn't Artie on Glee played by a disabled actor? {TV Squad}
Nov 12th 2009 8:32AM When castin agents start casting disabled people as leads in shows without regard to their disability, this won't matter. Until then this does matter to actors with physical diabilities. It marginalizes them. It's easy for people who aren't part of a minority to say that it's nothing. It does matter to the people who are excluded regularly.
Why isn't Artie on Glee played by a disabled actor? {TV Squad}
Nov 11th 2009 3:24PM We don't know whether McHale was the best auditioner, but knowing how casting directors think (or don't) there probably wasn't a call sent out for disabled actors who could sing. It's just lazy. As for "actors act", you don't cast white actors to play Asians anymore because it's offensive. You don't black up whites to play black people anymore because it's offensive. Why should you cast a non disabled person to play a disabled person? It's sheer laziness not to conduct a search for one.
Paul Mooney's TV history from Black Is the New White {TV Squad}
Nov 9th 2009 1:17PM It's always been a toss up for me whether the interview sketch or the Exorcist parody on that episode was the funniest. Loved both of them, though.
'The Changeling' Doesn't Scare Me Anymore! {Cinematical}
Oct 14th 2009 11:25AM Funny. I watched Paranormal Activity this weekend and thought about the destruction of the couple's relationship. Even without the ghost, they weren't going to make it as a couple. (But i did care about the ghost story.)
Two and a Half Men: Mmm, fish. Yum. {TV Squad}
Oct 6th 2009 10:12AM I like Annie Potts, too, but I thought she was miscast. As a cougar? Yes, maybe. As Judith's mother? Not so much. Judith is 40, as Alan stated. That would either make her mother 60 or 55 if she got married really young.
Also, I though her characterization was off. It just didn't work for me.
Fantastic Fest Review: The House of the Devil {Horror Squad}
Oct 4th 2009 5:45PM Just saw this Friday. If you didn't know it was filmed last year, you would swear that it was made in the sme timeframe as "Last House on the Left" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Same kind of pacing and tension building. It's a great film for the Halloween season for those not looking for torture porn or a gore fest.
Project Runway: The Sky's the Limit {TV Squad}
Oct 2nd 2009 7:39AM I want to know how Logan's "too short to be worn, hoochie suit" got a pass. The skirt was too short. The slit in it was up to the model's lotus and it was badly sewn. This season, I sense that the producers have more to say about who stays than the work product.
Surprise: Nigerian Government Bans 'District 9' {Cinematical}
Sep 21st 2009 1:07PM I agree with Walter. If there were massive numbers of films out that that show Nigerians in any light, District 9 wouldn't matter. But when there's only one film with a portrayal of a group of people as barbaric and criminal, it sends an awful message. And that message isn't in any way balanced in the film by a single image of a "regular Nigerian" who is not involved in criminal activity.
