From Page to Screen: 'World War Z' {Cinematical}
Jun 30th 2009 9:24PM I completely disagree that the oral history component of the book (and thus movie) is less key. I think its what makes WWZ stand apart from the rest of apocalyptic literature.
In fact, I think you could make several different movies... One a documentary style group of interviews, basically a visual version of the setup in the book, or a full blast action movie. My guess is that the result will be somewhere in between.
Ironically, though, I think if cast and directed correctly, the most potential would be the simplest version. I know the zombie fanatics out there would like something more uptempo, but the genius of the book was the human drama. Seeing the horror played against Todd Wainio's face (obviously played by Mark Hamill) to me is the more interesting story.
Now, I seriously doubt I'd get that wish, but I pray that they hold onto as much of that as they possibly can in the feature version. There is no other property out there that I'm looking forward to a film version more than this.

Jun 28th 2009 4:19PM yeah, I don't care if its fake or not, but my 3G didn't survive a drop into the pool.
Find my iPhone: How to set it up {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jun 17th 2009 8:12PM I'm curious too, as I'd to be able to put in other members of my family.
Palm and Verizon looking to take shine off Apple and AT&T {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jun 13th 2009 11:50PM Fair point, but I've been doing that for years through Exchange's ActiveSync. First on my Treo(s), then on my iPhone. Now its Mobile Me and my iphone, but the concepts apply.
Palm wasn't the first one to the cloud.

Jun 11th 2009 10:24PM I'm one of those that's going to make a decision b/w the Pre and the 3Gs this summer. I'm going to be moving in a month or so, and am waiting to see how the service is where I'll be living, as that weighs in.
One of the big questions I have about WebOS is how often it will be updated. Right wrong or indifferent about WHAT is in the updates, I do like that the iPhone OS gets updated, generally with both new features and UI tweaks, yearly. I mean, I've been playing with 3.0, and some of the little changes, like how contacts are displayed in the Phone app, are appreciated. Will WebOS be updated like this?

Jun 11th 2009 2:46PM I'd use it to look up unimaginative uses for extended batteries :)
Ask TUAW: Return to open, messed up Mighty Mouse, PDF alternatives, Boot Camp expansion, and more {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jun 4th 2009 6:42PM The only problem I've had with my Mighty Mouse, and its been a inconsistent problem, is the cursor jumps all over the place. I mean, I nudge the mouse to the right, and the cursor would jump to the top right hand corner. Its very jumpy in all directions.
But then at times (especially the days after re-pairing) it would work just fine.
Its driving me nuts.
The Geek Beat: It's a Cruel, Cruel Summer {Cinematical}
May 27th 2009 2:59AM ER, you are easily one of my favorite reads on the internet (and pretty much the only reason I still check out Cinematical), and I get the malaise that you're talking about. You've seen one of your favorite properties strike out, and we've also seen a just average Terminator movie.
The good news is that you don't have to be positive all the time (I'd like to take this moment to tell the rest of the Internet that you don't have to be negative all the time, either). A good balance that's based on honest opinion is refreshing.
That being said, there's a lot to look forward to this summer. I can't wait for HP, nor can I wait to be utterly disappointed in GI Joe ;)

May 13th 2009 7:23PM It looks like, from the screen shot, that the 10-Codes lists are listed by city, which is, obviously, key :)
The Geek Beat: Trek Tales {Cinematical}
May 12th 2009 2:56PM I think your mom sums up everything I think about when people complain about the series in two exerpts:
"This is not Star Trek for the old Trekkers. Maybe that is a good thing." (Granted she follows this with "I'm not sure about my feelings on that yet," but I thinks she answers that more than she thinks at the end, with:)
"What's next? I'm getting excited for Trek now!"
I guess I'm the only one on the planet that enjoys Time Travel stories, and don't mind J.J. using it as much as he has.
