In the entire run of this series, I have never been more sympathetic to any of Earl's situations than the one he is in now. What is a man to do when he has a full-on hottie in his bed and everything she does drives him nuts? I see now why Billie and Frank got along so well.

The sad part is that it seems like Earl is destined to be shackled to women who are just plain evil. Karma takes him to Billie, he can't seem to get away from Joy and any time he meets a woman who seems half way sane, his list gets in the way. I can only hope this is all part of karma's master plan.

Last night's show was the complete antithesis: brutal, bloody and in the end, shockingly sad. It was Gary Dourdan's last episode of the series. Warrick is gone and the only way you'll ever see him on CSI again will be in flashback or we discover a twin brother or lookalike cousin.

The show picked up on the storyline began last season, when Warrick bedded an exotic dancer from Pigalle who wound up dead. He was cleared back then, but never got over her death. We learn that he's been obsessively stalking Lou Gedda, the club owner whom Warrick believes had her killed. Before you can say, "what the heck is going on with the funeral with the two guys in the coffin," Warrick is caught seemingly red-handed (literally with blood all over his hands!) in Lou's office where the hulking body of the gangster has been riddled with bullets in his barber chair.

Gallery: CSI For Gedda
<a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/csi-for-gedda/809122/"><a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/csi-for-gedda/809123/"><a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/csi-for-gedda/809126/"><a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/csi-for-gedda/809129/"><a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/csi-for-gedda/809130/">

Continue reading CSI: For Gedda (season finale) - VIDEO

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

The Office: Goodbye, Toby (season finale) - VIDEO

Filed under: OpEd, Video, The Office, Episode Reviews, Reality-Free, Episode Recaps
(S04E14) I performed tonight in Hartford, CT. Coming out of the comedy club, a woman who wasn't at the show checked me out. I heard her say helloooooo in a guttural way, like I was a really good looking guy. A few seconds later, though, once she got a better look at me, she said, "Never mind." Then, she and her friends laughed for as long as I could hear them.

Apparently, I'm only good looking when someone is looking at me out of the corner of her eye.

I bring this up not to inform you that I'm unattractive -- my blogger profile photo does a better job of informing you of that than I ever could -- but rather because I didn't think I could be any more depressed than I was after that comment. I honestly thought their derisive laughter was going to be the low-point of my evening. Then I watched tonight's Office finale...
Continue reading The Office: Goodbye, Toby (season finale) - VIDEO

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Another '80s show is coming to the big screen - VIDEO

Filed under: TV on the Bigscreen, Video, Reality-Free

OK, so one of the scenarios below is actually true. Can you guess which one?

a.) Superbad star Jonah Hill is going to write and star in a big screen adaptation of 21 Jump Street.
b.) Nicolas Cage is going to star in a big screen version of the action series Riptide.
c.) George Clooney will star in and direct a movie version of Magnum, P.I.
d.) Ian Ziering will star in a big screen version of The Greatest American Hero.

After the jump, the answer.

Continue reading Another '80s show is coming to the big screen - VIDEO

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

The Dana Carvey Show: Episode 2 - VIDEO

Filed under: Other Comedy Shows, Video, Standout Episodes, Episode Reviews, Reality-Free

(S01E7) Originally aired on April 30, 1996.

It's easy to forget just how funny this show was. It's not just that it had a bunch of funny material and a talented cast (including Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, and Robert Smigel), it's that the batting average for each show was damn good. There's more funny stuff in each 30 minutes of a Dana Carvey Show episode than in 90 minutes of Saturday Night Live or even SCTV. No dead moments to sit through. I'm not sure why this show was so short-lived (other than the fact that the first episode featured Carvey as President Clinton, suckling a bunch of cats on his teats). And ratings, ratings, blah, blah, blah.

It was actually kinda hard to pick a standout episode since so many episodes have a lot of great stuff. But I think the video after the jump has some classic moments.

Continue reading The Dana Carvey Show: Episode 2 - VIDEO

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Short-Lived Shows: Married to the Kellys - VIDEOS

Filed under: Other Comedy Shows, OpEd, Video, Short-Lived Shows, Reality-Free

This is one of my favorite comedies of the past ten years, and I no idea that it actually starred not one but two cast members from Lost. More on that after the jump.

Married to the Kellys was a sitcom that ran on Friday nights on ABC during the 2003-04 season, part of their TGIF comedy lineup. But I think this show stood out as something for adults more than kids. It starred Breckin Meyer as a New York City writer who publishes his first novel and decides to keep his promise to his wife and move (he thought she meant move from the Village to the Upper West Side, not "America"). Now, this is where the usual big city guy vs. Kansas jokes come into play, but that's just half of the show.

Continue reading Short-Lived Shows: Married to the Kellys - VIDEOS

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Super Skank Wednesday: A round-up of some skanky ongoings - VIDEOS

Filed under: Other Reality Shows, OpEd, Video, Episode Reviews, Super Skank Wednesday
Welcome to Super Skank Wednesday. We'll talk about Kim Kardashian, the Flavor of Love 3 recap show, The Bad
Girls Club, Miss Rap Supreme and Lil' Miss Rap Supreme.
Continue reading Super Skank Wednesday: A round-up of some skanky ongoings - VIDEOS

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Hell's Kitchen: Day 7 - VIDEO

Filed under: Other Reality Shows, OpEd, Video, Episode Reviews

(S04E07) "He must be on his period." - Jen, about Chef Ramsay

That's not Chef Ramsay singing "Stop, In The Name of Lunch" above, he's screaming an order to the teams in tonight's episode. He screams a lot in this episode (and that's saying a lot when you're talking about Gordon Ramsay). The thing that's different about tonight was, I'm not quite sure what he's yelling at half the time. So the teams screw up and send out undercooked food and are slow getting things done in the kitchen, OK, we get that every week. But this week it seems like something is different. That Ramsay is pissy as well as irritated by the lameness of the teams, and for the first time I don't think he quite gives them a chance. He's yelling at them while they should be cooking and working and fixing things.

Wow, maybe Jen's right.

Continue reading Hell's Kitchen: Day 7 - VIDEO

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

AI Aftermath: 4th place finishers - VIDEOS

Filed under: American Idol, Video, Contestants, Alumni, News and Gossip

Welcome back to "AI Aftermath," where we explore Idol's past. We'll examine how they did on the show and what they've been up to since their eliminations. In honor of Jason Castro's elimination last week, we'll be looking at other fourth place finishers.

This week: 4th place finishers, featuring featuring Tamyra Gray (Season One), Joshua Gracin (Season Two), LaToya London (Season Three), Anthony Federov (Season Four), Chris Daughtry (Season Five) and LaKisha Jones (Season Six).
Continue reading AI Aftermath: 4th place finishers - VIDEOS

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

New MTV show searches for the next Broadway star - VIDEO

Filed under: Other Reality Shows, Programming, Video, Casting

MTV has a new show called Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods. The show, hosted by Haylie Duff, will follow ten hopefuls as they vie for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of starring on Broadway and replacing Tony-nominated actress Laura Bell Bundy in Legally Blonde The Musical.

In addition to learning the choreography and songs for the show, the ten young women will compete in challenges created by the team behind the real Broadway musical. They will also be guided by ex-cast members (including Laura Bell Bundy), the director of the show Jerry Mitchell, associate director Mark Bruni, and choreographer Denis Jones.

It should be noted that unlike other reality competitions, America will NOT decide who is the next Elle Woods. The judging panel will included casting director Bernard Telsey, writer Heather Hach, and Jerry Mitchell. Mitchell himself will have the final word on who takes the stage nightly. Do you think this will make for a more authentic look at what it takes to become a Broadway star?

MTV's new show premieres Monday, June 2nd at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Watch the trailer after the jump.

Continue reading New MTV show searches for the next Broadway star - VIDEO

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Medium: Drowned World (season finale) - VIDEO

Filed under: Medium, Video, Episode Reviews, Reality-Free

(S04E16) It's always nice when we get to see Joe's dreams for a change. Luckily for him, they aren't visions of the future.

I am constantly amazed at the strength of character shown by Joe Dubois. Generally characters on TV are very sensitive or have high moral standards. It's not often that they have both. The best part is that while Joe knows that he is doing the right thing and really has no other choice, you can see the frustration and the anxiety in his face. I wonder if Jake Weber could possibly get an Emmy nominee for this role.

Not only was it a great send-up of FOX's sister show, American Idol, making light fun of the show and its contestants, but there was also a lot of joking around and funny moments, reminiscent of the best of Bones' first two seasons with the Squint Squad. It was nice to see them back in full force this episode. Simultaneously, there were plenty of clues from the beginning of the episode about what was going to happen. But I'll talk about that in a minute. Can we talk about Eric Millegan first? It's starting to look that way, based on what we saw tonight; the way things ended, I can just imagine crazy Abby popping up once or twice per season, just to make Ted's life miserable. And since Brit Brit established the role, I'd imagine she'd come back and reprise it.

And that's not altogether a bad thing. Once she becomes part of the fabric of the show, the episodes will be less about her presence and more about the story. Somehow (heh), Brit pulls off the nutty stalker role well enough, and maybe her acting will get a bit more refined the more she appears. At least I hope it does.

Why am I prattling on about Britney? Because there isn't much more about this episode that really stood out.

Gallery: How I Met Your Mother
<a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/how-i-met-your-mother/431387/"><a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/how-i-met-your-mother/431395/"><a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/how-i-met-your-mother/431407/"><a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/how-i-met-your-mother/431455/"><a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/how-i-met-your-mother/431417/">

Continue reading How I Met Your Mother: Everything Must Go - VIDEO

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Pick a title for Alec Baldwin's new show - VIDEO

Filed under: Video, Web, Celebrities, Reality-Free

It seems that Alec Baldwin isn't content with starring on NBC's 30 Rock (and possibly running for office). He also wants to get into producing TV shows. Over at the Hollywood offices of The Hollywood Reporter (gah, new logo!), Baldwin pitches his new show, which he describes as both a family drama and a show where the entire cast has sex in a space capsule over and over again. He says it's a combination of Falcon Crest, Star Trek, and Girls Gone Wild.

In the video after the jump, someone off camera suggests the title Last Tango on Saturn, while Baldwin suggests Interplanetary Pie, though I don't think the networks would go for that. Maybe this is a plot they should squeeze into 30 Rock. Hey, they already had M.I.L.F. Island, right?

What's your title suggestion? How about Melrose Planet? Gossip Aliens? Sex and the Galaxy? Seems like all that chit-chat that led to the WGA Strike cease-fire is finally showing some results.

The Office webisodes will premiere first in early July and will focus on Kevin's gambling issues and how he plans to pay for his debts. We got a taste of his competitive side in this past week's episode when he started betting on holes at the golf course. The summer series will also feature Stanley, Oscar, and Darryl. This is the second series of webisodes for The Office, which premiered The Accountants back in the summer of 2006.

Continue reading NBC announces webisodes of Office and Heroes

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Bill O'Reilly vs. a teleprompter - VIDEO

Filed under: News, Video, Celebrities, Reality-Free

One of my television guilty pleasures would have to be blooper shows. And my favorite bloopers are the news bloopers because 1) they're live, and 2) they involve something that is usually supposed to be so serious and controlled. This clip of Bill O'Reilly going ballistic isn't from a live broadcast, but it's still pretty great.

It's from his days as anchor of the syndicated tabloid show Inside Edition (he was anchor from 1988 to 1995). What's funny is that, even back then, when nine out of ten people you stopped on the street probably didn't have any idea who Bill O'Reilly was, it still looks like he was egotistical and ready to destroy anyone who disagreed with him or irritated him in any way. It's actually rather shocking, no matter how many times you watch, the moment where he goes from being really peeved to "oh my God he's going to kill the cameraman and the stage manager." I wonder how Sting feels about being the person who inadvertently set Bill off?

<strike>Full video after the jump!</strike> Looks like CBS forced them to take down the video. But trust us, it was funny.

You keep disappearing and reappearing and it's not funny! You're just like that show Scrubs" -- Homer to his mother after her unexpected return.

Over the past few Sundays this space has been reserved for deeper looks into The Simpsons. Despite the fact that it is an animated series there is usually an underlying base of themes, emotions, and psychoanalytical analysis that takes place amongst the Simpson family and those around them. In fact, one 22-minute episode can contain many layers of subtext that define each character further.

This week, though, not so much of that. What we may have thought to be a sweet story about the return of Homer's mother turned out to be a huge joke fest. Well, actually more a joke fest during the second half of the show than the first half. The first half was actually kind of sad as Homer couldn't take one more of Mona Simpson's promises that she had stopped running from the government and was now ready to devote her time to Homer and his family. The second half was a totally different Simpsons episode.

Continue reading The Simpsons: Mona Leaves-a - VIDEO

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Saturday Morning: Speed Racer - VIDEOS

Filed under: Video, Animation, Children, Retro Squad, Reality-Free, Saturday Morning

"Here he comes, here comes Speed Racer. He's a demon on wheels." -- The beginning lyrics to the theme song of Speed Racer.

In this week's installment of 'Saturday Morning' we take a break from our regularly scheduled coverage to talk about a cartoon near and dear to many readers' hearts. A cartoon that, while not the first anime to reach the shores of America of the 60s, it was certainly the most influential.

Even though it was never part on any official network schedule, Speed Racer was on somewhere at sometime during the era of Saturday morning cartoons. And, why wouldn't it be? It had everything that a child hopped up on sugar-coated, chocolate-filled cereal could want: action, drama, comedy, mysterious heroes, villains, gadgets, cars, and a boy and his chimp. It also featured animated characters with more natural characteristics than those previously seen on American television. Plus, it had a kick-ass theme song that dug into your brain.

Much has been written on the history of Speed Racer since it premiered over four decades ago. However, with the new Speed Racer live-action film now in theaters, it's a good time to revisit the origins of Speed, Trixie, Pops, Racer X, and the rest of the players. So, if you have your Mach 5 model kit in front of you, let's Go, Go, Go!

Continue reading Saturday Morning: Speed Racer - VIDEOS

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Numb3rs: Pay to Play - VIDEO

Filed under: OpEd, Video, Numb3rs, Episode Reviews, Reality-Free

(S04E17) "I think if these were Travis Tritt fans, I might have better luck." - Colby

Sometimes I just don't know what they're thinking when they come up with stories for this show. Call me crazy, but the notion of a small rap label feud just doesn't strike me as something that the FBI is going to handle. And I do mean small. Besides the fact that the only real purpose that the case served was to play up the humorous stereotypes and clichés it created (like the scene with Larry and Charlie in the recording studio), I don't think it felt realistic. The music industry is far larger than the microcosm depicted in this episode and writers just hand-picked elements for this small, almost indie, rap label. I mean, c'mon - "2x4?" So, in essence, if you were watching the preview today, you were seeing what was meant to be in last week's episode, originally.
Continue reading Battlestar Galactica: Faith - VIDEO

Permalink | Email this | | Comments
