Reunion: '95, '96, '97 & '98

reunion; foxRemember way back in December of 2005 when Fox aired the episode of Reunion for 1994? OK, good. Now, remember how they showed the previews for the next episode of Reunion? Yea? Excellent. Well, I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but Fox sucks, and they never showed that one. In fact, they promptly canceled the show after that, leaving many loyal fans wondering just what our misfit crew of estranged friends' fates were. There were four episodes that had filmed, but Fox decided not to show them. Will there be an eventual DVD release of the episodes? I wish I knew, but I don't think it would really wrap up any loose ends, though. Luckily, Kristin over at E! has a rundown of the lost episodes. Head on over for a complete rundown of what was going to happen, and then come back here and vent your frustration with me. I believe Kristin has said in the past that she was going to give an overview of everyone's final fates as well, so we'll have to keep our eyes peeled for those.

Reunion: 2006

Unfortunately, this is not good news about the show coming back, think of this as a "What could have been". Oh yea, and more bad news. According to E!'s online rumor monger Kristin, Fox's Reunion is all but officialy cancelled. Peter Liguori, Fox's President, announced that Sam (and Will's) daughter Amy was going to be Sam's killer, thus taking the wind out of any sails. Kristin also said she had, on good word, that Reunion's team was going to switch the killer right before the plug got pulled. She said that she'd announce the identity of the new killer, along with some other juicy facts (why Craig pretended to handicapped, Jenna's hatred towards Craig) during her next chat. And if you're wondering about the bad news; David Janolari, The WB's development guy, flat out said that they weren't going to pick up the show. It was fun while it lasted. All seven years of it.

The Boss rocks out on 'Cold Case'

The BossEven Bruce Springsteen has a breaking point. Not usually a fan of letting his music be used in television programs, the January 8th episode of Cold Case will feature nine of Bruce's biggest hits, including "No Surrender" and "Atlantic City." However, if you can believe it, this story gets even better. The episode, entitled "Eight Years," tells the story of a few high school friends in the 1980s. They graduate, do their own thing, and then one of them ends up dead. Following the death, the other friends are questioned regarding the potential "murder." Now where have I heard that storyline before? It sounds so familiar... so recent, like it was from another show. The writer behind this episode of Cold Case said she chose the songs and then penned the script with the tunes in mind. Or maybe she just saw that show I can't remember... what was it?

The O.C. moves to later timeslot

seth
summer ocPerhaps it's a move that will open up the 8 o'clock hour for American Idol during late February and early March, since FOX is airing the results shows for the semi-finals on Thursday nights. FOX is moving The O.C. to the 9 o'clock hour, from the 8 o'clock slot its held since the first season. That time slot is now open, thanks to the cancellation of Reunion. The move happens on January 12, when new episodes of The O.C. return. FOX's announcement also gives a hint of what's to come in the second half of this season on The O.C. Ryan, Summer, and Seth launch a plan to get Marissa back into Harbor in time for graduation. One of the upcoming episodes, called "The Safe Harbor", is a tribute to an episode of Beverly Hills 90210 where the gang fought to get Donna to graduate. Plus, there's that whole college thing that still needs to be figured out. Where will they all go so we can continue to watch The O.C.?

Sliding into The O.C.'s old time slot are back-to-back episodes of That 70s Show. At least, until Idol takes over.

In Defense Of: FOX Executives

FOXBefore, I start this - let me be clear about one thing. By writing this, I realize that I'm opening up a giant can of worms and I'm probably going to get a lot of poo flung in my direction. But I think this needs to be said, and besides, everyone likes playing devil's advocate once in a while.

Reunion: 1994

kurt cobainI liked this episode - a lot in fact - due to the way they told the story this week. Having the advantage of starting at New Year's, the writers were able to tell a complete year's worth of stories in one episode. We actually got to see the changes and events everyone went through, instead of them just being alluded to in a completely boring manner. And although we've seen her before, we're really getting a new "villain" with crazy-ass Rebecca. She's starting to go a little Fatal Attraction on the Brewster clan. On with the show!

Reunion: 1993

93I don't know if we hit a wall with the show, or I'm trying to hate it now because I know it's going to be cancelled, but these last two weeks have been bad. Again this week, all the flashbacks happened within a single day. I actually like that format a lot, and think it works towards the benefit of the show. What was interesting was that it looks like a little bit of time has passed in the "present" since Sam's murder. Detective Marjorino has been thrown out of his home by his wife, and there's been enough time for grass to grow over Sam's grave. Of course, these could just be more oversights by the writers. On with the show!

Reunion: 1992

1992So by now, we've all heard the bad news. Never the less, we've still got some time left with our six dysfunctional friends, so we may as well enjoy the years while we still can. They've been through, how do I put this, "quite a bit" in their short amount of time that we've known them. This episode was a little different than the past ones; it took place all in one day. I actually really liked this approach, I don't think it would work for every episode, but it was a nice change of pace. On with the show!

Goodbye Reunion, Rodney, Hot Properties

Reunion - Will EstesThe swift ax of the network brass continues today. They've canceled a couple of ABC shows that no one I know watched (Rodney and Hot Properties) and one FOX show that I know a lot of people watched, Reunion. I haven't watched it but I know it had something to do with a murder mystery, right? A whodunnit? Not sure if we'll even find out what happened there.

Correction: Rodney has not been canceled. Not sure why or how I thought it was, but it's still on the ABC schedule.

Reunion: 1991

1991Ok, first off, I have to apologize; I didn't even realize that I missed last week until I started watching this week and was completely lost as to what was going on. I'm very sad to see that one of my worst fears about this show is already starting to come true, though. There is absolutely no way that Will could have enlisted, gone through boot, served overseas, and left the army in under a year. Two years, if we stretch the mechanics of the show. No way. Again, I missed last week, so maybe he was discharged, but that still is fitting a lot in a short amount of time. Don't go breakin' my heart Reunion, I'm having way too much fun. Enough with my tantrum. On with the show!

Update: Will Estes is coming! Will Estes is coming!

will_estesUpdate: We've been getting a lot of great questions but we have to close the post for submissions tomorrow morning. So here's your last chance to get your questions for Will in.

Hey loyal readers, I have an interview coming up with the awesome Will Estes who plays Will Malloy on the fan favorite show Reunion on FOX's Thursday night. On top of the interview that I'll be doing, Will has been kind enough to agree to answer some of your questions. So here's your chance to be the interviewer. Leave your questions in the comments below and maybe yours will be picked for Will. Keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming interview and possibly even your questions!

Reunion: 1989

tiananmenSorry it's a little late this week folks, but I just returned home and before I even upacked, I turned on this week's episode of Reunion. For those of you that missed it as well... boy, did you miss a doozey. A lot of the threads and themes on this show are starting to snowball, and there's a hell of a blizzard kicking up. Carla finally has her dream come true of expressing her feeling to Aaron, and have them returned, but it almost reminds me of Star Wars in that it's a very bittersweet moment. They seem so happy, yet we know they won't end up together. Other dreams and realities are shattered, but we'll get to that. On with the show!

Reunion: 1988

1988First off, I'd like to apologize for the lateness of this review. Like The OC, this is the last new Reunion until November. And with the twists that we were thrown in the last few minutes of this episode, I have a feeling these couple of weeks are gonna seem like an eternity as we wait to figure out just what the hell is going on. We now know that three out of the five cast is alive in the present. Who's the 3rd member of the six that we now know is alive? Guess you're gonna have to read on and find out. On with the show!

Reunion: 1987

PaulSo after a Bush-induced one week hiatus Reunion is back. Back with all the mystery, intrigue, relationship drama and hot women overacting story that got me hooked the first week. As someone pointed out last week in the comments, each episode isn't necessarily "a year" of these characters lives, but a time period from the title year. This week, we're in 1987 and everyone's looking for new starts, looking to shed the sins of their pasts. Considering the entire show is a flashback after one of their funerals, I think they're pretty much s.o.l.

Breaking News: President talks Thursday; show times change

president bush speechPresident Bush has scheduled an all-network, national speech tomorrow night at 9PM, and you know what that means. Television chaos during premiere time, that's what. CBS will air the season premiere of Survivor on schedule, though the CSI finale repeat will move to next Wednesday. And because of that, the premiere of CSI: New York will be pushed back to September 28. Fox's next episode of Reunion will push back to next Thursday, which will put it opposite the premieres of CSI and The Apprentice.
