Donal Trump and Rosie O'Donnell Ben Silverman is loosening up as the NBC executive session panel continues.

Asked what he felt was missing from NBC's lineup, the new Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, joked he wanted the chimes in the network's jingle turned up by 30%.

Silverman assures a reporter that he and Graboff are comfortable working side by side. "This wasn't an arranged marriage," he says. "We've known each other a long time."

from Sylar's Cubist Period(S01E19) It's Linderman's voice we hear over the "previously on Heroes" opening segment, rather than that of previous narrator Mohinder. That's an improvement. To tell you the truth I didn't know what to expect tonight. Heroes seems like it has been gone so long, I started worrying that its return would inevitably fail to live up to my anticipation.

I needn't have worried. I quickly found myself falling right back into the groove of the show. My favorite storyline was the Texas one. I enjoyed HRG's orchestration of the escape, using his knowledge of Matt and Ted's powers. As the Eric Roberts character will later say of HRG to the Artist Mohinder: "Glasses? Tall fella? He's no longer with the company." No doubt.

NBCThank God You're Here, an improvisational show in which celebrities must walk into the middle of a scene and try to ad lib their way through it, will air on NBC April 9, but you can check out a few clips of the show on YouTube right now, courtesy of NBC. I've placed a scene with Tom Arnold after the jump for your harsh judgment.

While I'm a huge fan of improv, having seen more than a few Second City performances, not to mention both the British and American versions of Whose Line is it Anyway? (the British one is better), I have to say that, based only on these short clips, Thank God You're Here lacks the cohesiveness and professionalism that made Whose Line so enjoyable. When I watched Whose Line, I knew the performers were professionals and could handle anything, but watching Jason Alexander and Tom Arnold struggle through their scenes just pulls me in too many directions: one moment I'm laughing and the next moment I'm worried the actors are just going to freeze up.

I think the show will be worth a look, but something tells me it won't be the most consistent comedy on television.

The Office: Gay Witch HuntIt's amazing to me how well episodes of The Office hold up to repeated viewings. The funny moments are just as funny, and the uncomfortable moments are just as cringe-inducing, as they were the first time around. That notion was brought home to me last night during NBC's Office marathon.

The network decided to air five "HR nightmare" episodes of the show (and one very funny episode of Andy Barker, P.I.), with new wraparounds featuring Toby the HR rep and a few of the secondary characers. All three seasons were represented, including the second episode that ever aired, "Diversity Day." The consistency of the humor from the first, little-watched season to now is pretty remarkable: Michael is inappropriate and uncomfortable, Dwight is an unrepentant suck-up, Pam is sweet with a bit of a snarky streak, and Jim is Jim. But what is really apparent when you look at the three seasons of the show mashed together is how many little things have changed.

Fred ThompsonHere's an interesting twist to the already-exploding 2008 presidential campaign: If former U.S. Senator and current Law & Order star Fred Thompson decides to run for president, all episodes of L&O with him in it will be pulled from the air for the duration of his stay in the race.

Why? Because of the FCC's equal time rules, says The Washington Post. It's a fairness policy that the governing body has had for decades; it ensures that every candidate in a political race has an equal opportunity to promote themselves. The rule doesn't apply to newscasts, interview shows, and news-oriented events (like debates, I'd imagine), but it definitely applies to entertainment shows like L&O. This isn't a unique circumstance; the article cites Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan as two candidates whose movies were pulled from TV during their political campaigns.

Jeff GoldblumI have to admit that I judged Jeff Goldblum's new show, Raines, before I even saw it. When I heard the plot description that was scattered about on the web several months ago, I think I actually sighed. Another show about an investigator who speaks to ghosts? Why had this become such a hot genre, like westerns or sitcoms many years ago? Did we really need another one, no matter what big name they had for the lead?

Studio 60...of course, the second part of that headline should probably be "...but it probably won't be renewed."

There have been rumors going around that Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip had stopped production, but that's not the case. In fact, they just finished filming episode 19 earlier this week, and filming of episode 20 started earlier today. So it looks like they'll film the full 22 for the season, but after that...well, they'll probably burn off the episodes during the summer and the show will not see a second season. That's Ray Richmond's take on it, and I agree with him.

Which is really too bad, because...well, for all the reasons I've mentioned several times here at the site before. And it's too bad that NBC abandoned the show, even though other shows that have premiered since Studio 60 was put on hiatus haven't done any better in the ratings. It would have been really nice to see what the show could have done in another time slot, another night. But I guess we'll have to be happy with a one season DVD set, hopefully with extras.

Friday Night LightsI've been checking out Friday Night Lights on and off throughout the season, and every time I tune in, I'm always blown away at a) how well acted it is, b) how the stories don't always fall into the cliche, and c) how the show can suck you in even if you're not a week-in-week-out watcher. Last night's episode demonstrated all three attributes. Brett's review goes into more details than I ever could, but there were two scenes in particular where the show could have fallen into the usual TV and movie conventions, but steps around them, giving the viewer much more compelling results.

Gina Philips - Medium(S03E16) This was a strange episode. Strange in the good way though. I say that because the b-story seemed much bigger than what we usually find in a Medium episode. Often the main mystery just dominates the hour and various bits of family goings on come across as interesting asides. Not that one way is better than the other. Joe's work story getting so much attention just struck me as unusual, or strange, if you will.

From what I'm told though, more Joe is always a good thing. This past weekend one of my friends mentioned to me that she would marry Joe DuBois in a second, so it's probably a good idea to give the fans what they want once in a while. Especially if you can do it in such an interesting way.

Connie Britton, Kyle Chandler(S01E20) As the season winds down for the Panthers, the focus turns more to football. As has been the case for the show all season though, there is much more going on than just another football game. It's an interesting line that the show walks. Things like last minute comebacks and a semi-final game in a renovated cow pasture run the risk of seeming contrived. Fortunately, they managed to pull it off in an interesting way.

Let's start with the game. I liked that the rains came and the game turned into a big sloppy mess where neither team could score. More points for how they handled Saracen's performance as well. The tutoring he received from Street over the past couple weeks provided some technique, but more importantly it also brought a needed confidence boost. That, combined with a game ending bootleg was a good way for the Panthers to win. Watching him stumble his way through the mud and puddles fit right in with both the conditions and how he has grown as a player. He is now that guy that can seize the moment.

svu; special victims unit(S08E17) The writers of this episode were out to stick it to the right-wing Evangelicals, weren't they? They wrote an emotional script about the subject that gets so many people riled up: homosexuality!

Tim Daly seemed a little detached from his central role in this episode, playing Jeb Curtis, a reverend at New Souls Church in Long Island. I think his character was based on real-life Evangelical minister Ted Haggard, who admitted to doing meth and having affairs with men. Of course, Haggard never killed anyone to cover up his sins (at least not that we know of).

black donnellys(S01E05) Was it me or did Tommy Donnelly look borderline stalker crazy sitting across the street from Reilly's Diner Shop waiting for Jenny? If I didn't know his character better, I'd have been certain he was on the verge of assasinating her with a box.

Of course, we all understand two things. Tommy is madly in love with Jenny and Tommy has already crossed that fine line between being a good citizen and being a bad citizen.

This is why he was the absolute last person who needed to hear that Jenny's diner was in the midsts of a cash crisis because her dad can't tell the difference between a giant blue box that says U.S. Postal service and the night deposit drawer at his local bank. I wonder if he hails hot dog cart vendors when he needs a cab...idiot.

Sinead O'Connor ripping up the pope's pictureApparently not much, according to this list on Wikipedia, which is part of a larger list of infamous SNL moments. Now, this being Wikipedia, it's hard to say if all the incidents listed are true; in fact, Wikipedia themselves have flagged the entry for not adequately citing sources. But, from what I've read about the history of the show, most of these incidents actually happened.

Anyway, the list carries the most infamous transgressions, like Sinead O'Connor's tearing of the Pope's picture, Martin Lawrence's raunchy monologue, and Elvis Costello playing "Radio Radio" when Lorne Michaels specifically told him not to. But, sometimes, all you have to do is go off script, as Adrien Brody and Charles Grodin found out, to garner a lifetime ban. Or just come unprepared, as Louise Lasser found out. Interestingly enough, Andrew Dice Clay isn't on the list, even though he did a monologue that was probably even more raunchy than Lawrence's. I think the Wikipedia readers just missed that one.
