Lindelof and Cuse display Lost ending at Comic-Con... at least on paper

Lindelof and CuseSince the creators of Lost, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, are always being accused of making the show up as they go along, they decided it was time to prove they had the last page of the show written.

So at this year's Lost Comic-Con panel, which will be the show's last, Damon and Carlton pulled out the final scene to get that chip off of their shoulders: Two pieces of paper they taunted the audience to steal. Although it won't be easy for anyone to get their hands on those pages.

You'll have to watch the panel video to see why, after the jump.

Lots of familiar faces promised for final season of Lost

Lost - Season One Cast
Juliet will be there. Faraday will be, too. "You'll be seeing many characters you haven't seen since the first season," said executive producer Damon Lindelof at the Lost Comic-Con panel. But what the hell does that mean?

They showed the crowd a fake America's Most Wanted on Kate Austen, as well as a commercial with Hurley promoting Mr. Cluck's fast food chain. This lead to Jorge Garcia (Hurley) asking the panel, from the audience, if those clips meant that Jack's stunt at the end of season five worked. Since they wouldn't say if Jack and Juliet were able to reset time, it was hard to tease anything. But that didn't mean we weren't offered some tantalizing Lost morsels to confuse us even more.

Do you have good enough grades to get into Lost University?

Adults are always urging kids to "stay in school," but they don't usually say which school. What if there was a university dedicated to all things Lost?

ABC has launched a web site for Lost University, an online school that starts on September 22. There are two semesters (or one final season), and courses include "Introductory Physics of Time Travel," "I'm Lost, Therefore I Am," and "I'm Right, You're Wrong: The Us vs. Them Mentality." There's also a Smokey Patrol, a campus security service run by students, and a Drive Shaft cover band contest.

The university will be at Comic-Con this weekend too, dropping clues about what all this means.

Emmy Wish List: Supporting Categories - Drama

Emmy_statueTalk about a wealth of choices! When it comes to the Primetime Emmys in the supporting actor and actress categories for drama, there are a plethora of worthy candidates. Some shows, like Mad Men or Lost, for instance, have multiple choices in the supporting ranks, especially since these ensembles seem to have a hard time determining who's really the lead.

Earlier, I shared my wish list for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama nominations, and I mentioned that Chloe Sevigny from Big Love would be a deserving selection. A TV Squad reader let me know that Chloe has actually been submitted in the supporting category. Good to know, and with that in mind, I'll start my wish list by talking about that category. (Remember, there are six nominees per category.)

Veteran producer suing ABC, saying he created Lost over 30 years ago

Lost logoI think most hit TV shows are sued at one point or another by someone who claims to have actually created the show. Usually it's someone unknown, but once in a while you get a real producer or writer with several credits who claims to have created the show. This is one of those cases.

Anthony Spinner, who among other credits produced and/or wrote for The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Cannon, Search,The FBI, Return of the Saint, and Baretta, is suing both ABC and Touchstone Television, saying that he created (and was paid $30,000 for) a show that is very similar to Lost way back in 1977. He actually sued back in 2005 but the case was dismissed for procedural reasons.

Lost producers want you to write a theme song for the show

J.J. AbramsLost is famous for not having a theme song. Or, more accurately, having a short theme song, one that's exactly one note long. J.J. Abrams wrote the song, but now producers of the show want you to come up with a theme song for them. The winning song will be played at this year's Comic-Con in front of many many fans of the show.

Here's a little ditty to get you started, if you want to do one with lyrics. Maybe Abrams can sing it (looks like he's singing in the pic).

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
a tale of a doomed airplane...

Do you want a happy ending for Lost?

LostLost begins its sixth and final season early next year (filming starts the end of August), and producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof revealed at a BAFTA event that the show will have a definite ending with all of the questions answered, but it won't necessarily be a happy ending. While the ending will be "fair," they say it will also be "bittersweet." We'll have to wait until the new season to see exactly what they mean, but how do you want the show to end?

How should Lost end?

We're getting an extra hour of WTF in the final season of Lost

Michael EmersonThis news is a few days old, but just this morning I found it buried in Ausiello's Twitter feed and I haven't seen it reported anywhere else yet.

The final season of Lost is going to be 18 hours instead of 17, meaning a double episode for the premiere and finale. So figure on an extra 45-ish minutes of head-scratching, "what the hell just happened" moments once January 2010 rolls around.

You may recall that at the end season three, ABC, Damon Lindelof, and Carlton Cuse agreed on the final three seasons of Lost being 16 hours each. But after the WGA strike cut season four back to 14 episodes, those last two hours got dispersed between seasons five and six, bumping them to 17 eps each.

I guess it just goes to show you that even the most well thought out plan can be tweaked, but it makes me wonder ... was this ABC's demand to get a longer season or Lindelof and Cuse's creative decision? I guess we'll know for sure if midway through the season we get "Stranger in a Strange Land, Part 2."

Mr. Eko wants to return to Lost

lost mr. eko Adewale Akinnuoye-AgbajeLike most fans of Lost, I was terribly disappointed when the smoke monster apparently killed Mr. Eko in season three. Eko was a great character who helped the equally great John Locke discover the possibilities of a life led by faith. Lost is still an amazing show, but I've really missed Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's presence.

Adewale, who will guest star in the Aug 7 episode of Monk and appears in the potential blockbuster G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, now says he wants to go back to the island. The actor says he left the show after his parents passed away in 2006, but he'd like to return to give Eko some real closure.

What if Lost were a sitcom from the nineties?

evangeline lilly kate austen lostLost fanatics, rejoice! We may still have, oh, more than half a year left before we get cheerfully dumped with a load of new episodes (::drool::), but in the meantime, we have DVD's, abc.com, repeats on SyFy, and YouTube!

Yes, YouTube.

Well, technically, we can't get our fix of full episodes on "the Tubez," but the site still provides us with plenty of fodder; fan dedications, clip montages, and music videos galore. Let's face it: people love their Hurley birds, smoke monsters, and everlasting, cancer-conquering romances. And why shouldn't they?

Top Chef Masters: The Lost Supper - open thread

Dharma foodThis week, Lost's Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof (as well as several writers) came to the Top Chef table to be served food by the contestants and judge them. They're big fans of the show (even joking that the quality of Lost has gone downhill since they've been discussing the shows on Thursday mornings), and this episode had a Lost-themed challenge. They could only use certain Dharma foods and stuff that you could find on the island.

I've gotten used to the "four chefs compete" format, though that means we're not going to see some really talented, interesting chefs in the coming weeks.

Lost is number one online -- if you don't count Hulu

abc.com lost online viewingsABC's Lost was the most watched TV show online in May, ranking up more than 36.4 million total video streams, according to Nielsen VideoCensus. Another ABC show, Grey's Anatomy, was the second most watched show online with the network's Desperate Housewives rounding out the top three. All three ABC shows brought in about 80 million online viewers for the month.

Variety posits that May's season finale cliffhangers put the ABC shows on top of the list. That's a fine theory, but here's another one – ABC led the online pack because Nielsen VideoCensus doesn't count any viewing done via Hulu, arguably the most popular site for streaming free online video content from TV networks.

We've got ABC's new fall schedule right here

dancing with the stars abc fall scheduleABC will kick off its upcoming fall season in earnest Sept. 21 with three nights of Dancing With the Stars. The hit show – that continues to gain viewers no matter how much I wish it would die and stay dead -- will lead off the network's prime time schedule on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays before being reduced to two nights a week to make room for a pair new comedies.

There's still no word on exactly when Lost will return, but the new mystery drama Flash Forward will bow Sept. 24 at 8 p.m., right before the season premiere of Grey's Anatomy.

The new seasons of Ugly Betty and Supernanny will debut in October with several new and renewed shows – like Scrubs, Brothers & Sisters, Eastwick and Private Practice – expected to show up on the network schedule later.

Delving deeper into the Charlie Pace mystery

lost charlie pace

The Internet has been all atwitter since Dominic Monaghan, aka the dearly departed Charlie Pace on Lost, showed up in a new ABC promo. In it, Dominic/Charlie is playing Foosball with current and upcoming ABC stars, including Patrick Dempsey from Grey's Anatomy and Courteney Cox from the upcoming Cougar Town. Jason Hughes theorizes that this could very well mean that Monaghan is returning to Lost next season.

This of course, is not out of the realm of possibility: death, after all, rarely means goodbye on Lost. On the other hand, it's not unheard of for stars who have exited the island to find themselves on other ABC shows (see: Harold Perrineau on The Unusuals). So which is it? Well, that crafty cad Michael Ausiello thinks he has the answer. See what spoilers ABC execs shared with him after the jump.
