Online has confirmed something that Ain't It Cool News reported earlier today: Heroes producer Bryan Fuller has left the show (again)!

A lot of buzz surrounded Fuller's return to the show last season. After Pushing Daisies was canceled, Fuller returned to the NBC show that he produced during the first season. Many fans credit Fuller with getting the show back on track. It did indeed seem that the show was a little bit more focused and engaging when he returned.

And no, this doesn't mean that he's going to be working on a big-screen adaptation of Pushing Daisies. Sorry fans.

Update: Here's why Fuller left.

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Heroes gets its very own Cylon

Filed under: Industry, Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, Casting, Reality-Free
You know what? I'm down with all the cast, er, cross-pollination that's going on in sci-fi TV these days. Especially if it means good actors can keep working after their previous shows were given the axe. Earlier today, we reported that Brian Austin Green, formerly of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, is joining Smallville for a two-episode arc. Now it looks like Battlestar Galactica's Rick Worthy is in talks to join NBC's Heroes.

On BSG, Worthy played Simon, the Cylon famous for conducting icky experiments on Kara Thrace. He'll play telepath Matt Parkman's new partner, an experienced L.A. cop, on Heroes when the show returns this fall. It's still unclear if Worthy's character will develop superpowers on the show, but something tells me he'll be more than just a normal cop before long. This is Heroes were talking about, the show where everyone gets superpowers.

Worthy is a sci-fi vet. He's appeared in everything from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine to Dark Angel and Stargate: SG-1. He'll be joining new Heroes season four recruits Robert Knepper and Madelina Zima.

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Is there hope for a new Star Trek TV show?

Filed under: Other Sci-Fi/Supernatural Shows, Industry, TV on the Bigscreen, Heroes, Reality-Free, Star Trek: Original Series
... Bryan Fuller thinks so. The former Star Trek: Voyager producer and current Heroes scribe told Sci Fi Wire that he'd love to create a new Star Trek series.

"I think that a Star Trek TV series is probably a couple years away, just to let the feature franchise breathe," the Pushing Daisies creator said, adding that any new Trek series should take place in the universe seen in J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek movie.

Fuller said a new Trek series shouldn't focus on the Enterprise crew - he thinks the Federation flagship should stick to the big screen - but on a new ship with a new crew and "an entirely new adventure."
Continue reading Is there hope for a new Star Trek TV show?

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Heroes' Greg Grunberg disses The Listener on Twitter

Filed under: Other Sci-Fi/Supernatural Shows, Celebrities, Heroes, Reality-Free
Update: The post on Grunberg's page was a retweet originally written by someone else. Yesterday, we learned that Prison Break's Robert Knepper would come on board as a new villain. Well maybe not everybody if the ratings for Harper's Island are any indication. But mysteries and suspense have been a part of television since it's inception. It's one thing for the plot to be full of mysteries. Things like "Who shot J.R.?" can become a part of popular culture. But J.R. himself wasn't a mystery, we knew him pretty well.

But there are those characters we don't know much about. Think about Benjamin Linus from Lost when he first appeared as Henry Gale among the Flight 815 survivors. There were so many secrets and mysteries surrounding him that we couldn't take our eyes off of him when he was on-screen. Well Ben's story may be more or less told, though something tells me there's still more to be gleaned, but there are plenty of familiar faces on television with not so familiar back-stories. And while Ben didn't make the list, that doesn't mean Lost went unrepresented.

If you just want the list, click here.
Continue reading TV Squad Ten: Most mysterious characters on television

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

TV Squad Ten: Most mysterious characters on television - the list

Filed under: Other Drama Shows, Other Sci-Fi/Supernatural Shows, 24, Lost, Doctor Who, Heroes, TV Squad Lists, Reaper, Reality-Free, Fringe, TV Squad Ten

10 - Dr. Helen Magnus (Sanctuary, SyFy)

9 - Captain Jack Harkness (Torchwood, BBC America)

8 - Castiel (Supernatural, The CW)

7 - Tony Almeida, (24, Fox)

6 - Angela Petrelli, (Heroes, NBC)

5 - The Devil (Reaper, The CW)

4 - Christina Scofield (Prison Break, Fox)

3 - The Doctor (Doctor Who, SyFy)

2 - Richard Alpert (Lost, ABC)

1 - Walter Bishop (Fringe, Fox)

Want to see the pictures or leave a comment? Their fates are a bit more murky, especially Earl considering NBC is giving Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" a prime-time berth, apparently launching NBC's Thursday night.
Continue reading NBC announces four new dramas, two new comedies to fall lineup

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Subtle Subtitles: Heroes

Filed under: Subtle Subtitles, Contests and Giveaways, Heroes, Reality-Free
If you haven't seen our game before, we give you a picture from a recent episode of a TV series, and you provide the funny caption! Last week it was a picture from Parks and Recreation. But in general? The ratings for the finales of both shows were rather lackluster at best.

The season finale of Heroes had an average of 6.4 million viewers, while Chuck got 6.1 million. Both of those numbers are actually down from the season average (7.7 million viewers for Heroes and 6.5 million for Chuck). Now, I'd love to have 6 or 7 million people reading my stuff, but I guess that's not enough in television land.

Continue reading Chuck and Heroes end their seasons, but a lot of people just don't care

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Heroes: An Invisible Thread (season finale)

Filed under: Heroes, Episode Reviews, Reality-Free
(S03E25) In my early look at this finale, I laid a pretty broad hint as to the major twist at the end of this volume, and I was impressed with some of the deductive abilities of our readers. And the fact that one of you got it exactly right. Now that we've all seen the final cut of the closing chapter of the "Fugitives" volume of Heroes, we can really look back at it and see how we think things have gone.

What was needed was to wipe the slate clean, resolve as many of the dangling plot threads as possible, and establish a tabula rasa for "Volume Five." Or as much of one as we can this far into a series. After all, these last two volumes have left some pretty sour tastes in many mouths. The set up for interesting things to come next year was definitely well done. I'm more interested in what's going to happen in "Redemption" than I was excited about what happened in this finale.
Continue reading Heroes: An Invisible Thread (season finale)

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Heroes: An Invisible Thread (season finale) -- An early look

Filed under: Heroes, Early Looks, Reality-Free
After watching the penultimate episode of "Volume Four: Fugitives" on NBC's Heroes last week, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when a dashing young man in a FedEx uniform delivered a surprise package to my doorstep later in the week. Inside was a rough cut of "An Invisible Thread," the season finale of Heroes. Now this wasn't nearly as rough as the X-Men Origins: Wolverine debacle floating around the interwebs, but neither was it the completely polished version we'll see this upcoming Monday at 9:00 PM ET.

Overall, I found myself a little disappointed as I've been with every volume finale we've had since the very beginning. And admittedly, I might just be wanting something a little bit more than what we're able to get here. As for deaths and new beginnings, those we do get. I'll tell you this: one person who I felt certain was going to die didn't. One person who I thought as a possibility to die did ... but sort of didn't. But really did. The only hint I'll give you is Marvel's first Exiles series.
Continue reading Heroes: An Invisible Thread (season finale) -- An early look

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

What You Missed Last Night: A big honkin' spoiler about Heroes

SPOILER! On last night's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Ali Larter appeared to promote her new chicks-kicking-each-others-asses movie Obsessed, but she promoted this Monday's season finale of Heroes too.
