Oh, come on, do they actually expect us to believe that David Beckham and Robbie Williams will play the gay couple of ABC's Desperate Housewives this season?
As Paul mentioned recently, a new gay couple will move into Wisteria Lane this fall. And now Digital Spy says that soccer star David Beckham has chosen singer Robbie Williams to be his partner on the show if it were to ever happen. The site also says that creator Marc Cherry says that Beckham picked Williams over new friend Tom Cruise.
Yeah, OK...

As mentioned in today's SA, in an interview with AfterElton.com, Marc Cherry confirmed that a gay couple will be the newest residents on Desperate Housewives next season.
The couple will move into the house vacated by Betty Applewhite (Alfre Woodard) next door to Teri Hatcher's character, Susan. As you can guess, Susan gets off to a rocky start with the new neighbors by putting her foot in her mouth and inadvertently insulting them right away.

As some of you may have noticed, some of the categories to the left have changed. There's a new one there: Dramedy Shows. We put this in place because there really are shows that don't fit in just the drama or comedy categories alone. There are some shows, however, where we are in a bit of a dispute over classifying them as dramedies.
In particular,
House is a show that has definite, purposefully comedic elements, yet the drama portions of the show are quite heavy-handed and serious. But are Hugh Laurie's House antics enough to slide the category meter over to make this show a dramedy?

When we last left Victor Lang on Desperate Housewives, he married Gabrielle to get the Latino vote in his political race. Now Lang is on Mad Men as Roger, the head of the Sterling Cooper ad agency. Can John Slattery work on both shows?
Slattery doesn't think so.
According to this NY Post piece, Slattery says "I don't think my chances for survival are very good." He has no idea what the writers will do to the Victor/Gaby marriage, but considering Victor's real motives and the fact that Gaby is cheating on him already, I'd say he's probably on his way out. But that's OK with me. I'd rather see him full-time on Mad Men anyway. Right now he's doing both, and that has to be sweet for an actor.

ABC had so much star and producer power attending its All-Stars party for the TV Critics at the Beverly Hilton last night, it had to have had to have two -- count 'em
two -- tip sheets (one with stars; one with producers) for the media.
There was one typo, however For some reason, Marc Cherry was listed on the producers' list; sure, he's Desperate Housewives' top exec, but the man should have been put on the talent tip sheet, too. He knows how to tease a season and entertain a table full of reporters like no other!
Cherry gave the scoop on new characters played by Dana Delany and Nathan Fillion -- also, a preview of what's ahead for the other ladies of Wisteria Lane.

Tired of squinting at your PC to watch online video. ABC has updated its online video player to
support high definition (720p) video playback.
Right now there's not a huge selection of content available in high definition. You can watch a whopping one episode each of
Desparate Housewives,
Grey's Anatomy,
Lost, or
Ugly Betty at resolutions up to 1300x770.
You'll need a 2Mbps or faster internet connection, and even then you're not guaranteed crystal-clear playback. Just because the player supports HDTV resolutions doesn't really mean you're going to get HD quality over the internet. The faster your internet connection and the better your computer's specs (CPU, Graphics card etc), the better your results will likely be.

Big Lost scoop! Harold Perrineau is returning to the serial ABC drama as killer Michael Dawson.
Getting the news out of ABC entertainment president Stephen McPherson wasn't easy, however.
The session began with Hope Hartman, one of ABC's top PR chiefs, getting the day off with some really good news -- because we're on the final legs of the tour's "death march with drinks" all ABC functions will take place on-site at the Beverly Hilton hotel. Woo-hoo!

Yes, you read right.
Desperate Housewives' creator Marc Cherry wants to do what other series (see
Buffy and
Scrubs) did before: a musical episode!
Variety reports that the Cherry is looking to keep ratings up next year and thinks that a musical episode may help create a buzz.

On the heels of
yesterday's news that Dana Delany may soon become a
Desperate Housewife, is news that Nathan Fillion is also in talks to join the show.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Fillion would play Delany's much younger husband. They'd be the new couple on the block at Wisteria Lane and would, no doubt, have some sort of mysterious past and secrets that they're hiding from the neighbors.
Rounding up the Fillion/Delany family is Lyndsy Fonseca, who may play the couple's daughter. Fonseca is currently the unnamed "daughter" that we occasionally see at the beginning of
How I Met Your Mother.
It'll be interesting to see whether Fillion's addition to the show brings some Browncoats over to ABC on Sunday nights (probably not this Browncoat). Fillion had a lot of support from his fans when
Drive launched this spring, but it was swiftly canceled by Fox.

Michael Ausiello reports that
China Beach's
Dana Delany is once again in talks to join
Desperate Housewives. I say again because the actress was approached on three occasions to play Bree. Even though she didn't want to play Bree, Delany may be joining the character's family soon as the actress is in talks to play Bree's long-lost sister.

Numb3rs and Desperate Housewives will soon collide on Lifetime in a two-hour spectacular that's sure to wow your senses with explosions, adultery, advanced calculus, skimpy lingerie, and men wearing FBI flak jackets.
OK... not really. But Rob Morrow and James Denton have been cast to star along side each other in the upcoming Lifetime original movie Custody. Morrow stars as a regular ol' college professor whose wife dies and then risks losing his step-daughter to her filthy rich bio-dad played by Denton. The premise actually sounds fairly interesting and it seems the only thing missing is a walk-on appearance by Meredith Baxter. If you think about it though, this is a pretty big grab for Lifetime - getting two big name male network stars to team up.
Incidentally, I'll never watch this on my own accord. However, I will see it and I can already tell you how it's going to happen. Custody isn't set to premiere on Lifetime until September. Which means by Thanksgiving, they'll be replaying the hell out of it. I'll be visiting my folks for the holidays and some night I'll wake up to find my mom glued to the TV with Custody on. I can almost guarantee there will be a bowl of lukewarm New England clam dip and a half-eaten bag of stale Fritos in front of her too. Since I'm a sucker for clam dip... well, you get the idea.

I'm talking about Betty Suarez, not the actress (America Ferrera) who plays her on the hit ABC show. Every year one of the financial sites figures out how much money various TV characters make a year. Last year we discovered that Homer Simpson makes $67,422 at the power plant. This year's list comes from CareerBuilder.com.
I'm not surprised to find out that Boston Legal's Denny Crane makes $210,000, but I was rather shocked that Cold Case's Lilly Rush only makes $44,000 a year. She solves cold cases, for pete's sake! Hopefully the benefits are good.
The list also has the salaries for Arthur Branch on Law and Order, Jim on According To Jim, Pam on The Office, and many others.
Update: Betty Suarez makes $37, 810 a year. Now you don't even have to click on the link and all the world is at peace again.

(
S03E23) I have to admit, I swore at the end of this episode/season Edie was going to end up getting pregnant. I was so not expecting this. If you haven't watched tonight's episode yet, I suggest you stop reading now and NOT click on the link for the rest of the post.
GabyLet's go ahead and start with Gaby since today was her big day. Her little hissy fit that Bree was late certainly took on new meaning after seeing her fight with Victor from the night before. Wow, how many excuses is she going to make for him? It's not too late to get the wedding annulled, or is it? He and his father seem to have a lot of power, and I am not convinced she could get out of the marriage at this point. I think they would do what they could to stop her, regardless of what that might entail.

(
S03E22) I know this is going to sound absolutely insane, but I like Edie better now than I ever had before. I know she gets more and more manipulative with every episode, but she also becomes more human. It's not like she isn't completely predictable. If Carlos doesn't know her well enough by now to figure out that she is lying about wanting a baby, then I don't really think we can put all the blame on her just because
he's a moron. I know that Carlos desperately wants a baby (a son, apparently), but is he really blind to how Edie has treated Travers for his entire life up until recently?

(
S03E21) I never thought I would say this, but I can't wait to find out what happens in the next few episodes. I still miss Bree and Orson, but the storylines are fantastic right now! And I like the stronger role they have moved Edie into while Bree is gone. I hope Edie doesn't get moved to the backseat once Bree returns.
