More good news out of NBC's top drama.
Wentworth Miller is guesting on Law and Order: SVU, and this time he's not going to be behind bars. The
Prison Break actor will star in the September 23 premiere of
Law and Order: SVU, which is kicking off its 11th season on the NBC.
Wentworth Miller's casting comes on the heels of
NBC re-signing of Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni to two-year extensions as the show's mainstays, Detectives Benson and Stabler, as well as the return of Stephanie March as Alex Cabot and a four-show arc for Christine Lahti. I'd say that the powers-that-be are stacking the deck with prime talent to make sure
Law and Order: SVU maintains its top quality status.

Leo G. Carroll did it in 1966. Lisa Bonet sort of did it in 1987. What am I talking about? Double duty. That is, playing the same role on two series which are running at the same time. There are probably quite a few other instances, but Leo was head man Mr. Waverly on both
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and
The Girl from U.N.C.L.E. for a year, and Lisa was Denise Huxtable in college (
A Different World) and when she came home to visit the family in Brooklyn on
The Cosby Show.
Now,
Rocky Carroll will appear on both NCIS shows. Doing double duty makes perfect sense for the
NCIS twosome, especially since they're going to be airing back to back on Tuesday, 8-10 P.M.

What time is it? Well, it's almost Hamster Time as the new houseguests settle in the
Big Brother 11 house. Julie Chen and executive producer Allison Grodner introduced the cast this morning on
The Early Show.
The official Big Brother 11 website is up and running. We're almost there! All we need are episodes and the live feeds in the house. The esteemed Bob Sassone has already written about
this season's new "green" house. For me, it's just a bit garish, how about you?
The latest hamsters are: (top row) Casey, Jordan, Jeff, Braden, Chima, and Kevin. On the bottom row, we have Lydia, Laura, Michele, Natalie, Ronnie, and Russell. The oldest is Casey coming in with 41 years of age. To be honest, I really look for more diversity in ages, races, and more. But you never know -- I'm sure there's going to be some controversy in the house. The season premiere is July 9 at 8 PM. Be there or ... er, or be here on TV Squad!

That's because a new actress will be playing the role of the female demon last seen a few seasons ago. She was played by Nicki Aycox is several episodes, but now the role will be played by the woman on the right,
Rachel Miner.
I'll always remember Miner from her role on
Guiding Light (she played Michelle Bauer in the mid-90s), but she was also married to Macauley Culkin for a short time. Everything has a Michael Jackson connection these days.

Salt-N-Pepa and TLC. Two of the most significant and important female R&B groups of the past 25 years. Why couldn't it have just stayed that way? No, VH1 just had to drag members from both groups into their sick "looking for love" reality world. That's right,
Pepa and Chilli are looking for love, on VH1 with a camera crew and eight half-hour episodes. Somehow I have a hard time imagining either of these women having a hard time picking up guys.
Can I just say to all the other celebrities out there who are looking at this as a good thing, just stop right there. Do you think people are respecting Bret Michaels for his music these days? He's more famous for
whacking his head on a stage. If the music dries up down the road, I don't want to see Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake hawking themselves all over VH1 to try and find love. Not to mention: have they seen the kind of people these reality shows find for you to fall in love with?

It seems like everyone is out to get
Burn Notice's Michael Westen in one way or another. An old buddy from the spy days will come back to see him and he'll end up being a bad guy, or he'll have other evildoers trying to kill, control and/or blackmail him. Now we have another one coming to the show for four episodes, and it's someone who was in not one but two different recent FOX shows.
That's right, it's Cleveland from
Family Guy and
The Cleveland Show! OK, that's not true. It's actually
someone who was in both Prison Break and Mental.

When Chris Noth left
Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Jeff Goldblum was announced as his replacement, I was kind of excited. I'm a fan of Goldblum's, and he's always entertaining, whether he's a guest on a talk show or doing something decidedly strange like his guest spot on
Tim and Eric: Awesome Show, Great Job!So far, not so good. Last night's episode, which tried to weave together the stories of a washed-up celebrity chef, a hip hop mogul, and a flighty socialite, still didn't provide the punch I was hoping for. It was better than most of his episodes so far - and a good deal better than his first episode. And there are some elements I like; Goldblum's Detective Zack Nichols can't seem to keep from correcting his co-workers, seemingly with no ill will, but irritating them in the process.

In the
season finale of Lost, we saw the mysterious Jacob get stabbed by Ben. Of course, we have no idea if that means Jacob will be killed or just injured (maybe he can't even die like a normal person can), but if he is indeed not on the show anymore, actor Mark Pellegrino has secured another gig.
Michael Ausiello over at EW.com says that
Pellegrino will play the devil on The CW's Supernatural.

Noah Wyle is going from fighting vampires in
The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice to fighting aliens for Steven Spielberg. The former
ER doc
has signed on to the Oscar-wining filmmaker's alien invasion pilot for TNT as the leader of a "ragtag" group of rebels set to make trouble for the alien baddies.
The series will take place months after the alien force has decimated the human population of Earth, leading Wyle and friends to strike back any way they can. (Thankfully, George Lucas' name has not been mentioned in any news surrounding this upcoming sci-fi project.)

Being a nerd, I'm very familiar with Jeri Ryan's career. She helped make
Star Trek: Voyager watchable for a while as a self-aware Borg and recently starred in CBS'
Shark alongside James Woods. But it was her work on the David Kelley shows
Boston Public and
Boston Legal that has me thinking she'll be a good fit for
Leverage.
The actress handled Kelley's sharp dialogue like a pro, and I'm guessing she'll bring the same confidence to her role as a "smart-ass, street-wise con woman" on the second season of
Leverage. Ryan has
signed on for a recurring role on the TNT heist drama. Her character will be a friend of Sophie's (Gina Bellman),
Leverage's sexy grifter with a bag full of tricks and foreign accents.

The first bit of news is that there's actually going to be
a 21 Jump Street movie. Jonah Hill is writing a big-screen adaptation of the 80s FOX drama where young-looking cops go undercover to bust bad guys. He wrote a cameo scene for Depp, and Depp thinks such a cameo would be "hilarious." Depp wouldn't be playing his 21 Jump Street character, he'll actually play Jack Sparrow, his character from
Pirates of the Caribbean. That's the weird twist to the cameo.
Well, no. Though Hill hasn't said what role Depp would play. I can only assume that he'll be playing the same part as he did years ago, though who knows. He could be playing Johnny Depp playing Tom Hanson, one of those meta "TV-show-within-a-movie" things. Hill does say that the show's theme song will be in the movie.
If you forgot what that theme song sounded like, take a listen after the jump.

For those of you who weren't paying attention during the last ten seconds of
Smallville's eighth season finale, the "big bad" of the ninth season is going to be the Kryptonian Phantom Zone villain, General Zod. Now
it's been announced that Callum Blue of
The Tudors and
The Secret Diary of a Call Girl will be playing the character.
I was secretly hoping for Terrance Stamp, a.k.a. the voice of Jor-El, for the role but this will do. At least they stuck with a Brit. It would seem like heresy at this stage to have Zod played by someone with an American accent.
Considering that Zod has been a presence on the show for several of its seasons, it makes sense that they wrap up the whole series with a final confrontation between Clark and Zod. Now if they can only give Clark the tights and let him fly, the fans of the series can walk away happy.

You think
Bobby Cannavale has felt the sting when all those episodes of the failed second go-round of
Cupid have been burned off by ABC this past few weeks? It's got to be a shot to the ego, even for an established, successful Emmy-winning actor. Well, here's some news that should puff him back up again.
Cold Case is bringing Bobby Cannavale back for the new season.
Cannavale appeared last season on
Cold Case as Detective Eddie Saccardo, an undercover narcotics cop -- think Serpico with a sense of humor -- who had a brief romantic fling with Lily. It was one of the only happy things in Detective Rush's life last season, so the return of Eddie could be just what the doctor ordered for Kathryn Morris's character.

We all watched her grow up on
Full House and then we watched her disappear from our television screens, seemingly forever. I don't know if I'll go so far as to say Candace Cameron was to the early '90s what Alyssa Milano was to the late '80s, but that's because I'll be forever loyal to my boyhood crush on Samantha Micelli. But while Milano has been on the airwaves virtually every season since the question of
Who's the Boss? was answered when the network canceled it, not so for Cameron.
She got married and went off to raise her kids for ten years, giving us only a few appearances in that time. Now 33 and ready to get back to work full time, Candace Cameron Bure will be one of the stars in
ABC Family's gymnastic-themed Make It or Break It, premiering tonight at 9pm ET.

The best part of
Late Night is coming to
The Tonight Show. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog
will be making his first appearance on Conan O'Brien's show tonight according to
a Twitter entry (or "tweet," as the kids call it) from staffer/blogger Aaron Bleyaert. Hopefully, it's the first of many appearances.
I make no reservations about my love of Robert Smigel's alter ego. I have seen him in concert and own all the CD and DVDs that the character has released (except for
TV Funhouse, which didn't have enough Triumph on screen to warrant my purchase). At this stage, I can even recognize
Blackwolf the Dragonmaster on sight.
With that in mind, I may just have to catch Triumph's return to Conan's show. I'm not sure if the sort of humor can work at the earlier hour, but if David Letterman was able to move an hour earlier while still keeping his own style 15 years ago, I don't seen why Conan or Triumph can't do the same.
