ABC must love the Cox-Arquette family. The network's fall season
will feature Courteney Cox in a three-episode arc of
Scrubs, and now
David Arquette is set to guest star on an episode of
Pushing Daisies. This role marks Arquette's first ABC appearance since he starred in 2007's
In Case of Emergency, which was canceled after only twelve episodes.
I'll save the character-specific information for after the jump. Arquette will guest star in the fourth episode of
Pushing Daisies' second season. While he's definitely an acquired taste, David Arquette seems just odd enough to fit in with the show's unique cast of characters.

I usually associate
Real World cast members with drunken barfights, threeways, and tearful meltdowns--but politics? That's a first.
Kevin Powell, former
Real World reality star, is running for Congress in Brooklyn's 10th District. Old-timers like myself remember Kevin from the show's very first season, back when the cast members weren't equal parts hot and crazy.
Powell's post-reality career has set him apart from the typical fame-seeking MTV celebs. According to
his campaign website, he's written seven books and is a successful lecturer and activist. That certainly beats stints on
The Surreal Life and the
Real World/Road Rules Challenge.

USA has recruited Mark Feuerstein for one of its new projects. The actor was recently
cast as the lead in
Royal Pains, a 90-minute pilot for the cable network. As Bob reported back in March,
Royal Pains is
one of four upcoming series that USA is currently developing. Feuerstein will play Hank Lawson, a former ER doctor who reluctantly takes a job as an on-call physician to wealthy residents of the Hamptons.
Jace Alexander, the director behind the pilot episode of USA's
Burn Notice, has signed on to direct the
Royal Pains pilot, which is encouraging news for the series.

(S04E05) Weeds turned a corner with this episode. This week marked the true beginning of Nancy's new life. She owned up to her mistakes, made amends to her friends and family, and admitted the obvious: she was a lousy drug dealer. While it took Nancy several seasons to realize the truth about herself, Guillermo figured it out in a few episodes and gave her a new job.

Scott Bakula is Ray Romano's new best friend.
Bakula is the latest addition to the cast of Men of a Certain Age, a pilot for TNT. The drama focuses on three men in their forties that have been friends since college; Bakula is one of the leads. His character, Terry, is an "intelligent, but struggling, actor." Terry's best friends have struggles of their own. Joe, Romano's character, is a divorced father who runs a party supply store. Owen,
played by the supremely gifted Andre Braugher, is a family man who works at his father's car dealership.
This recent bit of casting news just made the TNT pilot a must-see for me. Ray Romano, Scott Bakula, and Andre Braugher seem like an unlikely group of buddies, but I suppose it depends on the chemistry between the three actors.

In a time when even Paris Hilton publishes her memoirs, it's rare to hear about a celebrity autobiography worth reading.
Charles S. Dutton is telling his life story in a book for Random House's Crown Books. Dutton has done a lot of acting and directing for various TV shows, most notably
Roc. He won a directing Emmy for
The Corner as well as Outstanding Guest Actor Emmys for
Without a Trace and
The Practice.
What makes Dutton's success story unique is his personal life before he became an actor. When he was seventeen, he was convicted of manslaughter and spent seven years in prison.
From Jail to Yale, the working title for the actor's book, will discuss Dutton's criminal history and his education at the Yale School of Drama.

The makers of
MXC are not happy with the "creative" minds behind ABC's summer hit
Wipeout.
Spike initially called out the Wipeout folks in a press release announcing the
MXC marathon,
"MXC, The Original, Not The Ripoff, Weekend." Now Larry Strawther,
MXC's executive producer, is
upset with ABC and YouTube for removing a video that Strawther released in order to establish
Wipeout's ripoff status.
The video in question is after the jump.
Strawther has also accused YouTube of "[altering] the search results algorithm to benefit ABC and punish
MXC." He's right; a search using the terms "
MXC" and "
Wipeout" leads you to videos showing motocross wipeouts. Strange.

(S04E04) Nobody mourns like the Botwins. I can't decide whose behavior was the least appropriate; there certainly were a lot of contenders. Lenny's countdown was extremely insensitive, and his actions throughout the episode didn't do him any favors, either. I'll save the specifics for after the jump, but he made Nancy's Andy-ditching look like an act of kindness. Not cool, BotWinBig, not cool.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler is returning to HBO. The actress is set to
guest star on the upcoming season of Entourage, playing the challenging role of actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
Entourage has had a lot of celebrities appear as themselves over the years, ranging from significant (Mandy Moore as Vince's ex) to unremarkable (Kanye West). Fortunately, Sigler will get some significant screen time; her stint will last three episodes.
Details about Sigler's role are available after the jump. Between this news and
the return of Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester, season five of
Entourage is starting to look pretty darn good.

The characters on
Six Feet Under were fascinating to watch, but they often made horrible romantic choices. Even the couples that stood the test of time had their issues. Most of the truly memorable train wrecks didn't last, though. Here's a look back at some of the show's weirdest relationships.
Ruth Fisher and Arthur Martin - Ruth and Arthur's relationship was arguably the most awkward pairing in
Six Feet Under history. Apart from the significant age difference, the relationship suffered from a lack of physical intimacy. You can't build a romance on nuzzling and spooning alone; it didn't take long for Ruth to figure that out. Ruth dumped Arthur, and things took a turn for the worse when she suddenly married George Sibley. Arthur showed his jealousy by arguing with George over the origins of the word "formica" and labeling his food. They finally parted ways after the "poo by mail" misunderstanding.

Former
Sopranos mobster Michael Imperioli is returning to television as a police detective.
The actor has been cast in ABC's Life on Mars, an American adaptation of the BBC series. Imperioli landed the role of Detective Ray Carling, one of the lead character's colleagues. Ray is described as "a rough, tough sexist who has never heard of the phrase 'politically correct'."
This cast addition is the latest of many changes made to the drama.
David E. Kelley is out as the Life on Mars showrunner, and
October Road's Josh Applebaum, Andre Nemec, and Scott Rosenberg have replaced him. Producers also decided to
move the show's production and fictional setting from Los Angeles to New York City.

ABC wants
Lost fans to spend the show's long hiatus curled up with a good book. The network has created
the Lost Book Club, a resource for viewers who want to know more about the drama's numerous literary references. The book club website contains a list of the books seen or referred to on
Lost. You can peruse the list according to season or based on a number of categories (background, dialogue, and show theme).
In a brief letter to fans, executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse mentioned that the club is informal and that the books should be used to enhance the
Lost experience, not provide answers to the show's mysteries.

(S03E08) Two words: Jeanne Tripplehorn. Keith's paintball revenge was his finest moment on the show as far as I'm concerned. The Fishers and Diazes played against type and became people of action, if only for a short while. David and Keith settled their differences on the battlefield, Ruth made several uncomfortable moves on Arthur, and Lisa sized up her competition. Petrarch, head lice, and polygamy also came into play.

Jason Schwartzman is officially coming to HBO.
The actor will play the lead in Bored to Death, a new comedy from the cable network. Schwartzman has been cast as Jonathan, a struggling writer in this thirties who has a drinking problem. The series, which is set in Brooklyn, follows Jonathan's post-breakup decision to pretend to be a private eye.
Although he's not qualified for detective work, Jonathan loves the novels of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. He'll luck out and solve a few cases, but his lack of experience will often make matters worse for his clients. Novelist Jonathan Ames wrote the pilot and will serve as the show's executive producer.
