It
would seem the episode title “Childish Things” comes from bar
owner Tom Nuttall's new bicycle. Its arrival leads to a heavy wager
on its ability to traverse the thoroughfare. But the title is also
appropriate for the building tension between Alma and Martha Bullock.
19
th century civility prevents them from pulling each
others' hair out but you can tell there is a rumble brewing between
them over ole Seth. And as always Sol seems to get the brunt of his
partner's rage. A rage that obviously can not be directed at the two
women in his life. That's why
Deadwood is really interesting.
If the situation happened on a TV drama set in
Six Feet Under-land
the conflict resolution would be muuuuuch different. Seeing how the
wild west dealt with the everyday dramas of love and intrigue is darn
compelling television.

365gay.com
lists the hottest home makeover hunks on TV. While the publication's
target market is clearly male, I'm guessing our female readers would
also enjoy checking out the list that features Ty Pennington, Nate
Berkus and other reality show regulars. Of course for the straight
guys, there are plenty of home improvement hotties too. Paige Davis,
no longer of
Trading Spaces, was the original sprite-like DIY cutie.
Now there's the more ummm...equipped Paige Hemmis on
EMHE. But I
still swoon for Genevieve Gorder, late of
Trading Spaces, now
Town
Haul. Feel free to list your favorite handy hotties below, men or
women.

The
country isn't that interested in beauty pageants anymore. The
Miss
America pageant only drew 9.8 million viewers in 2004 leading ABC to
dump the annual catwalk for 2005. Now the show is looking for a TV
home and is using the William Morris agency to sell it.
Fear Factor
had lead-in episodes for Miss USA but those stunts have actually had
higher ratings than the show itself. Some folks would rather see an
end to Miss America than have the contestants eat cow intestines or
hold their breath in a box filled with scorpions. We agree.

A new version of Tough Crowd With
Colin Quinn is being attempted to fill the slot it once held
after The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Except this time Tough
Crowd will feature host Greg Giraldo, a regular on Quinn's
version. We're guessing Quinn turned down reprising the host of the
irreverent and sometimes hysterical show because of the way the
series was treated by executives looking at the ratings. They were
miffed the show lost half the audience of The Daily Show.
Maybe they don't understand that the reason The Daily Show does
so well is because everyone turns off their real nightly news to
watch Jon Stewart, then they turn on Letterman or Leno. The fact that
Quinn kept anyone is pretty impressive. Other shows considered for
the slot include another Giraldo series, Gone Hollywood, a
D.L. Hughley project and a new Adam Corolla show. Please no more
Corolla.

The news/hype surrounding the NFL Draft
is just intense this year. My Miami Dolphins plan to be big movers
tomorrow and I'm really excited about watching what happens. The
problem is until today there was no notice of when the Draft coverage
starts on ESPN or NFL.com! WTF? Five and a half hours of Day 1 Draft coverage starts at
noon EST Saturday on ESPN. Round two starts at 11 a.m. EST Sunday.
Finally,
NFL.com has the time up in front. Sheesh. My personal hope
is that someone trades for Miami's #2 pick. Especially the
Redskins. I'd love getting Cadillac Williams (doubtful) or Aaron
Rodgers (boy has his stock dropped) or Pac-Man Jones at #9 and Jason
Campbell or Odell Thurman at #25. And with a second round pick now we
could get Fason at RB maybe? Oh man I can't wait. Anyone else as
excited as I am?

This is not a good week for Paula
Abdul. First, the news that she has a
brain disorder and now news
that former contestant Corey Clark claims he had an affair with
Abdul. He also says Justin Guarini bragged to having an affair with
Abdul. Could these affairs be part of the
ABC special being worked
on? This could be a huge scandal for AI and eventually bring it
crashing down. But knowing that Abdul is the weakest link in the show
anyway I'm sure Fox could find someone to replace her.

Fashion commentator Steven Cojocaru
recently received a kidney transplant due to a serious disease. He
planned a round of interviews including a spot on Oprah. But the
Today Show, where Cojo worked, didn't like that idea and
canned him. New kidney and all. Oprah expressed shock that she in any
way could cause someone harm. "It's not worth losing your job!"
She said to Cojo. Oh well, maybe Oprah can use a new fashion
reporter. Oh and to the
Today Show, that's just cold. Fire
Cojo because he's annoying not because he's telling his harrowing
story to Oprah.

The season finale of
Joan of Arcadia
tonight could directly influence CBS into bringing the show back for
a third season. Despite the “critical acclaim” and loyal fans the
ratings have been slipping. I've never heard of that dilemma before.
But will enough casual viewers check in to tonight's finale dealing
with a second, and evil, teen that speaks to God? We'll let you know
what the ratings reveal next week, but don't expect word from CBS
until mid-May.

Will Arnett, who plays the stunningly
moronic Gob on
Arrested Development, will star in a new comedy from
the same team behind
AD. The untitled comedy will be for Universal
Pictures and the set-up sounds kind of lame. Arnett goes to his 20
th
high school reunion and lies to his former crush that he's a wealthy
New Yorker. The trick is the girl falls for it and comes to New York.
Hilarity ensues when Arnett's character tries to keep up the act.
Doh! moment: Sorry it's going to be a film. Sorry about that.

Without the luxury of having an early
screener for this episode, it was up to my DVR to take care of me
watching week two of
Revelations. I like the idea of the mini-series.
But since the first 10 minutes were actually on last week's screener,
I was thrown off. It was a really slow episode except for a few tense
moments. Maybe all that time leads to the climatic feeling of Haden's
prison speech, the discovery that Hawk is being watched and then the
crashing ending. Those few moments delivered big. I was kind of
bummed Fred Durst had a split second of screen time with all the buzz
about him being on the series. Oh well. We're still going to watch
next week. Even if it's just to watch Michael Massee's (
Carnivale,
24, The Crow) Haden.
