Latest in the gross reality wars

teacherNo it's not the latest Fear Factor copycat show that has us shivering at our desk. It's the fact that ET has landed the rights to air the Mary Kay Letourneau wedding. Yes, the teacher that fell in love with a student and went to jail for him is finally settling down with said student, now of age and father of her two children. Isn't that sweet? No, it's really not. It's really disturbing and just shows Entertainment Tonight's lame attempt at ratings. I prefer my girl Nancy O'Dell and Access Hollywood myself.

Baby Fey on the way

Tina FeyWe like headlines that rhyme but we especially like any good news for our favorite SNL'er Tina Fey. Today word came that the anchor of “Weekend Update” is pregnant. She and her husband, SNL composer Jeff Richmond, are expecting their first child in September. While it is terrific news and we wish Fey the best, our guess is she won't be on SNL next year. That will eliminate the one reason to still watch the show (although Finesse Mitchell and Keenan Thompson are hilarious when used).

Smallville: Blank

SmallvilleIt sounded like a lame premise. Clark gets his memory wiped out and thus allows Chloe to figure out the truth about our boy in blue...T-shirt. But to my surprise the episode was terrific. I was really shocked at how the show gave fans what they wanted, Chloe finding out about Clark's powers, then predictably finding a way out of it (another conveinent memory wipe) and finally the kicker of a closer with Chloe remembering enough to scare the crap out of Clark. What a ride. The memory wipes didn't find their way to Lex (for once) and Clark's slip about his drawings have his bald buddy's evil gears turning. I'm not quite sure where this leaves Clark and Lana in the dating realm, but it won't please the now-evil Jason that much I assure you.

The Anti-Idol movement

Constantine
There is an Internet campaign to change the results of American Idol. We're not quite sure if Vote For The Worst is attempting to change the course of the popular reality show for humor or some higher social commentary, but their mission is clear: Vote for the worst contestant every week. For the past few weeks that has been Scott Savol. Scott received the third highest votes last night, even though he is clearly the weakest contestant. The smoldering Constantine was sent home after picking a crappy song Tuesday. Results have fans pissed off and we're gussing that's really VFTW's agenda: To mess with fans of the show. I still think if we got to actually vote off our least favorite Idol officially, there wouldn't be an issue. A united America against Scott would surely have him gone.

That 70s Show: 2120 So. Michigan Avenue

70s showI don't think I'll miss Eric next year. Topher's character hasn't grown a bit on this show (I know, it's just a sitcom) and every week it seems like the same storyline. Eric is a dumbass, does something to make up for it, everyone's happy in the end. It is the typical sitcom plot. The other characters aping the Miss America contest with Fez and Kelso was pretty funny and is based on the original premise of the show, making fun of 1970s culture. Having Red mess with the guys' new place was also priceless.

American Idol: Americans are idiots

ConstantineAs our overseas readers already know, American voters are idiots. I mean American Idol voters are idiots. Constantine's exit shows how the top reality show is truly flawed. We should be voting off our least favorite. That way Scott would have gone home weeks ago. Constantine faced what others have, voters thought he was safe so they didn't vote. He also picked a bad song. That doesn't mean he isn't one of the top three talents on the show. It is painfully obvious that Bo, Carrie and Constantine are at the top and Anthony, Vonzell and then Scott are at the bottom. In six months let's see who has a career: Scott or Constantine. That leads me to the real problem with the male rock singers on this show.

Google Adsense comes to Weblogs' RSS

newsgator
RSS fans out there have probably noticed a change today. Weblogs Inc. has added Google Adsense to the RSS feeds so that newsreaders now display an ad with every post. This allows companies like ours to make money off the content that is freely run on readers. Instead of allowing only headlines or partial posts in feeds, forcing readers to clickthrough to the full post, this allows us to offer better coverage (by paying more bloggers) and maintain the ease of use newsreaders provide. And of course, Weblogs Inc. is the first publisher to utilize Google Adsense in its RSS feeds.
