Remember when it was previously reported that the
South Park Season 11 DVD set will have tracks for the XBox 360 video game Rock Band? Well, apparently
they took it back, according to our sister site, XBox 360 Fanboy.
Xay de Matos from Fanboy speculates that the reason behind ditching the tracks is that they were never intended for
Rock Band. Rather, they were intended for
Guitar Hero (specifically
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock), the video game an entire episode in Season 11 is dedicated to. Apparently, the people in marketing didn't know the difference.
I don't understand the logic behind this decision. It's an excellent promotional possibility, so why wouldn't the makers of these video games be all over this like a fly on rotting food?
The final specs for the DVD set haven't been released, so it's possible some extra goodies will still be on it (Trey and Matt have historically at least done mini-commentaries for every episode). It's a case of wait and see.

Apparently,
NBC Universal wants to make more Battlestar Galactica television movies like Razor, possibly as soon as this summer. According to Maureen Ryan of the
Chicago Tribune, discussions have just started regarding this.
Ronald Moore has stated that
Battlestar Galactica in its current format would not be continued after this season. Given the death rate of the surviving humans, I wonder if any of the characters will be left to film after the season's end. My guess is that the TV movies would serve as filler for what could be a long delay between the first and second halves of season four.
What keeps
Battlestar Galactica intriguing is that, much like
Lost, you never know who will be alive or dead by the end of the episode. This makes for exciting storytelling.
On the other hand, the TV movies could simply be tie-ins to the upcoming prequel series
Caprica. What do you think the TV movies would be about?

Fox has released the
first official cast photo for the new series Dollhouse created by
Buffy and
Firefly mastermind Joss Whedon. The background appears to the be the set of "Dollhouse" itself (where all the agents to have new personalities and skills implanted are kept).
It looks like the Kens and Barbies aren't even allowed to have footwear while they're not working. Eliza Dushku, who plays the lead named Echo, is standing in the center. To the left is Tahmoh Penikett, better known as the actor playing Helo on
Battlestar Galactica. I don't recognize the two standing on either side of Dushku. To the right is Fran Kranz who just starred in
Welcome to the Captain, Olivia Williams of
Sixth Sense and
Rushmore, and Harry Lennix from the
Matrix movies.
Absent from the picture is Amy Acker, who played Winnifred Burkle on Whedon's previous series
Angel, but her role is only recurring and not technically a cast member.
I'm looking forward this series.

It looks like someone took the effort to create a Flash player with embedded videos of many of the upcoming new fall shows. Included are clips from
Dollhouse,
Fringe,
Life on Mars,
The Eleventh Hour, Scrubs, The Cleveland Show, The Goode Family (pictured right) as well as several others. I only had a chance to look at some of them. The previews aren't of all the new shows available in the fall (NBC only has one preview), but it's still quite a few. Which ones are missing?

(S04E05) Yet another classic
Doctor Who villain gets an update. This time it's the Sontarans in their first television appearance in 23 years.
For a revision, it's actually pretty accurate to the original series. The only difference with the Sontarans now is that they're all short. This is actually an improvement on the original series since they've always been from a heavy gravity world yet appeared at normal size (which always struck me as a little odd, unless the Sontarans we've seen historically were the professional wrestler versions).

Kelly Preston (also known as Mrs. John Travolta) has been signed to star in a new HBO pilot called Suburban Shootout. The series is a dark comedy about rival gangs of suburban housewives. Most recently, Preston had a recurring role on Medium.
Preston will be playing Camilla, the leader of one of the gangs. Other cast members include Kerri Kenney and Rachael Harris. The show is based on a British series that was picked up by the Oxygen network.
The premise of the series sounds good. It's a bit like Desperate Housewives meet Boys In The Hood. I envision a scene in which the housewives rumble like the rival gangs in The Warriors. While the premise works, its success depends on the execution of the idea.
There is one thing that can be confidently said about this new series. The show couldn't possibly be worse that one of she and her husband's previous efforts, Battlefield Earth.

(S07E20) After a pretty intense set of scenes from the past season, we open with Edward Teague trying to run to South America (as all fugitives tend to do). His stewardess ends up being Kara, who takes a very sinister turn as she threatens to throw Teague out of the plane. When he gives her the information she requires, she destroys the plane and kills him anyway (along with everyone else on the plane).

Dog the Bounty Hunter will be finding its way
back to the A&E network. The network executives who are his masters have decided to give Duane "Dog" Chapman a second chance after he was caught on tape saying racial slurs about one of his son's girlfriends. A&E spokeman Michael Feeney even said that he believed Chapman wasn't a racist.
The show involves Chapman and his crew (which includes his fifth wife Beth and some of his kids) chasing down bail jumpers in Hawaii and other states. He previously had gotten in trouble with the Mexican government for his actions (bounty hunting is illegal in that country).
When I think of
Dog the Bounty Hunter, I tend to think of the satire done on an episode of
South Park when Cartman played Dog (loved it when Cartman parodied the philosophical rhetoric of Chapman which he does while taking prisoners to jail).
Reruns will begin on A&E on June 25th with original episodes starting a few weeks later.Posted May 13th 2008 8:00PM by Brad Trechak

Reaper fans rejoice! The Hollywood Reporter (with its new, ugly design) states that
the CW has renewed the show for a second season.
The show has been on the bubble for a little while, and I can postulate the CW's motives for renewal. First, it gives the opportunity to build a name for the show (which is a nice
Buffy the Vampire Slayer combination of fantasy and humor). Second, it cuts some slack for the show with regard to any possible developmental interference the writer's strike may have had on it.
The show will return for 13 episodes in the mid-season and will likely run alongside the CW's other fantasy suspense series
Supernatural after
Smallville finishes its run.
The show has made great strides since its Kevin Smith-directed premiere and really shows promise. The still-struggling CW could use as many hits as possible. It's a good thing that the network is pursuing shows with some degree of sophistication and not abandoning them for mindless drivel (coughcoughrealityTVcoughcough) in the pursuit of cheap ratings.

Dennis Farina
was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport for carrying a firearm through airport security. The
Law and Order star was described as "apologetic and cooperative" about the incident. He was released on a $25,000 bond.
Farina, 64, entered acting after serving as a Chicago police officer for twenty years. He is known for his detective roles in movies such as
Get Shorty and
Sidewalks of New York and on television most notably as Detective Joe Fontana on
Law and Order.
The actor had just driven to Los Angeles from Arizona with his .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol in his briefcase. He was scheduled to take a United Airlines flight home to Chicago.

If the rumors are to be believed, then
the inevitable has occurred. Fox has passed on the Americanized version of
Spaced (nicknamed "McSpaced") and its fans are breathing a collective sigh of relief.
Producer McG made a huge mistake when he decided to not include the creators of the original, British version in his remake yet he included their as if they were still involved. Simon Pegg, Jessica Hynes-Stevenson and Edgar Wright have been very vocal in their displeasure regarding the remake.
Known for its cinematic style and pop culture references, the original
Spaced launched the careers of everyone involved. Pegg and Wright have gone on to bigger and better things (such as
Shaun of the Dead and
Hot Fuzz) and Stevenson has starred in several British productions afterwards.
It's never a good sign when one is trying to remake a show and pisses off the original creators. NBC was smart enough to have the creators of
The Office rewrite their original pilot and give them creator credits. Why couldn't
Spaced?

The
New York Post has gotten some dirt on
big changes for the next season of Weeds. Season four is going to have some major overhauls.
The show is about a suburban housewife played by Mary-Louise Parker who has to sell marijuana in order to make ends meet after her husband unexpectedly passes away. It's known for having the song "Little Boxes" played in the intro.
Except that it won't anymore. Gone will be the intro song and the location of the show will change to a rundown seaside California town near the Mexican border. This should come as no surprise to regular viewers since the fictional community they lived in burned down at the end of season three.

Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy Enterprises, has given his consent for Miley Cyrus to pose for the magazine that is the cornerstone of his empire. This is only once she's of legal age of course.
Miley Cyrus is the 15 year old daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus and star of the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana. She is already well on her way to becoming a billionaire and I don't think she needs the publicity.
