Aloha, Martha Logan! Kooky former '24' First Lady Jean Smart is staying in the political game, but this time, she'll be the governor of Hawaii.

Smart, who received two Emmy nominations for her role as the wife of plotting President Charles Logan on seasons 5 and 6 of '24,' has signed on to play the completely ethical Hawaii Governor Pat Jameson in CBS' 'Hawaii Five-O' remake.

The multiple Emmy winner ('Samantha Who?'; 'Frasier') joins a 'Hawaii' cast that already includes 'Moonlight' and 'Three Rivers' star Alex O'Loughlin as Det. Steve McGarrett, 'Ocean's Eleven' star Scott Caan as Danny "Book 'em, Danno" Williams, 'Lost's' Daniel Dae Kim as Det. Chin Ho Kelly and 'Sons of Anarchy's' Taryn Manning as McGarrett's younger sister, Mary Ann.Aloha, Martha Logan! Chin Ho Kelly and 'Sons of Anarchy's' Taryn Manning as McGarrett's younger sister, Mary Ann.

The remake, a do-over of the 1968-80 drama that featured the late Jack Lord as McGarrett and one of the most iconic TV theme songs ever, will revolve around an elite squad of the Hawaii State Police that is headed by McGarrett and reports only to Smart's Governor Jameson. In the original series, the governor was a male character named Paul Jameson, but remake creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (writers of J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek' movie script) and 'CSI: NY' producer Peter Lenkov made the character female to reflect the more visible role of women in politics today.

Meanwhile, Smart, who recently played Michael Cera's mom in the big-screen flick 'Youth in Revolt,' also stars in a pair of upcoming movies -- 'Barry Munday,' in which she plays the mom of Patrick Wilson's titular character, and the Katherine Heigl/Josh Duhamel comedy 'Life as We Know It,' which features the former 'Designing Women' star as the mother of Heigl's character.
