FX sets midseason schedule: Damages to Mondays, Nip/Tuck finale in March, and more

Glenn Close as Patty Hewes in FX's 'Damages.'Hot on the heels of FOX, its parent company's midseason schedule announcement, FX today released their upcoming schedule after the ball drops for 2010.

For the most part, the basic cable network's upcoming slate of originals is what everyone expected, save for one fairly big surprise.

Full details and premiere dates after the jump.

  • Damages -- Set to return for its 13-episode third season, the Glenn Close legal drama has been shifted from Wednesdays to Mondays and will premiere on January 25th at 10 p.m. ET. While it's doubtful this will be the show's last season, it is worth noting that Damages has only been renewed through the end of this season. FX hasn't been airing any promos for the new season as of yet, but it's a safe bet one will drop during tonight's season two finale of Sons of Anarchy.
  • Archer -- The new animated comedy from the mind Adam Reed (he's behind Sealab 2021 and Frisky Dingo) previewed back in September to mostly good reviews and it makes its official premiere on Thursday, January 14th at 10 p.m. ET.
  • Justified -- Formerly Lawman, the title has changed but the show hasn't. Timothy Olyphant stars as Raylan Givens, a bad-ass US Marshal. FX previously released this clip from the series premiere which will debut at some point in March. (I wonder if that new Steven Seagal reality show had anything to do with the name change?)
  • Louie - The new comedy from Louis CK is still TBD as well, with a spring premiere planned.

And now, for that big surprise I was talking about...

Nip/Tuck is only taking a short hiatus between its sixth and seventh, and final, seasons. Currently airing on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET, the plastic-surgery drama's sixth season finale will air on December 16th. However, in a move similar to what HBO did with Entourage's second half of season three and season four, Nip/Tuck will only take two weeks off before it returns for its final season on January 6th. The series finale, and 100th episode, will air on March 3rd. Nip/Tuck wrapped production back in June and season seven wasn't expected to air until much later in 2010.

So much for trying to keep all those New Years resolutions that I haven't even made yet. TV vs. the gym? Is it even a contest?
