Last night was the series finale of Jon and Kate Plus 8 and the show ended as if it was any season finale. The family went on their two last adventures while Kate and Jon narrated how they will be good parents. TLC tried their best to put Jon in a negative light, but Jon's media training forced him to make diplomatic statements.

With the divorce, Jon and Kate Plus 8 was cut short. The dynamic between the parents was something to watch, but the real focus was eight children learning about the world and each other in the process. Each started gaining true personalities and by the end, I finally was able to distinguish between Alexis and Leah.

I have fond memories of the Gosselin family since 2007, and watching the family grow for two years has been amazing to see. We had video of Kate when she gave birth to the kids and we got to watch her dealing with six babies in their cribs flanking one room. I've tried my best to watch 18 Kids and Counting and Table for 12, but neither show is the same; they can't compare to the Jon and Kate formula. The Gosselins were half-Korean, which gives the family a cultural difference. Kate's stance on organic food, budget, and religion felt fresh on their show. The other two shows have too much happening on the screen and it's hard to figure out who's who.

If the last episode was the last time we're ever going to see the Gosselin family, we ended up having no closure. The sextuplets had their hijinks at the fire department and at the farm, but you could feel the weight of the show ending through Kate's narration. The sextuplets never were asked what they liked about the show. We also end the series off with the twins storming away from their father. If the final event we see from Mady and Cara is crying and being sent to their room because Jon disliked them talking positively about Kate; I'd be disappointed with TLC.

Once in a while I catch repeats on TLC. It's very different seeing repeats of the show now, knowing that Jon and Kate end up divorcing. You start to analyze what happened. Did Kate screaming at Jon at the toy store spark something? Was Jon's quip about Kate having a stick up her ass just on the surface of his problems? Then you wonder, could Kate bring the family to Disney World or Sesame Place by herself? I'd love to see Kate attempt a lot of these events as a single mother.

In the future I would love to see either yearly specials catching up with the whole Gosselin family or a show based off of the kids. When the twins are old enough to narrate a show, TLC should just debut The Gosselin Eight and supersede Jon and Kate. It's a given that TLC will stay with one of their highest rated families, so it's all up to the cooperation of Jon to see how much of the Gosselins we'll see.
