I just want to shove House and Cuddy into a room together and let them figure out their relationship. It's clear that even though she's trying to be happy in her current relationship, she just can't get House out of her head, no matter how much she declares that she has or is going to.
I feel for her, because once they end up getting together -- if they don't by the time the series ends, I'll be ticked -- she'll have a long road ahead of her. Or not. People change. There's a good heart beating inside House's damaged psyche. It could work.
As for this episode of House, so much back and forth, mind games (well, that's a given), yes-no talking and angst. It can be maddening, but that's sort of what the show is about, so there's really no way around it.
So House has his license back. How do you feel about that? Personally, I'm looking forward to him being back in charge. That's where I like him. And at this point, I'm sort of glad to see Cameron go. She's such a kill-joy, with her conscience and all. You wonder if she's ever inched over the speed limit or trespassed on a beach to go skinny-dipping with her boyfriend. Live a little, girl. Kill an evil dictator. You can do it.
Of course, I'm kidding. Sort of. I like the quote from whomever said it -- the porn star's wife, I think -- "You're here to treat him, not lecture him." I get the feeling that Cameron thought she could right all the wrongs in the world and "fix" everyone who came through Princton-Plainsboro, including the staff. Am I being too hard on her?
And this line that Cameron said to House before walking out the door:
"I loved you and I loved Chase. I'm sorry for you both, for all you've become, because there's no way back for either of you."
Really? Life just isn't black and white like that.
And I realize that the House team specializes in difficult cases, but I hope I never end up at Princeton-Plainsboro with a complex case. I'd come out of there with a liver transplant, some brain surgery, and a course of chemo for whatever ails me. Even with all the brainstorming the team does, you get the feeling they're just grabbing at straws a lot of the time.
I'm glad to see a set team, so they can all move forward. It was funny how even though Taub and Thirteen thought they were moving beyond House, they just couldn't do it. Just couldn't NOT look at the faxes that came through. I just hope the Foreman-Thirteen pairing doesn't spiral into Cameron-Chase territory.

Actually, the producers should have kept it as a big secret until last night's episode (like they did for Kal Penn).
I will miss Cameron. I can't stand the Fore-teen pairing and I hope Thirteen leaves at season's end.
Nice to see Jolene Blalock on TV again.

This show has officially jumped the shark at this point. Putting aside the DEA interference that resulted in the removal of all painkiller use by Dr. House - despite the fact that he still has the same chronic pain condition in his leg - the show just seems stale. House doesn't even do any differential diagnoses anymore. I can't even remember the last really clever, memorable line out of House's mouth - it's been a long time. This season has been a disaster from the get go, and it just keeps getting worse for me.
At what point does one quit watching what has for several years been his favorite show? I guess pretty soon. I'm already at the point where I don't care about watching it when it's on, I Tivo it and watch it later. House used to be the one TV show I'd look forward to watching every week. Now it's "vicodin makes you see and hear dead people." House has gone from a damaged, brilliant genius to a sad, crazy guy who doesn't even solve cases anymore.
I guess I'll give it a few more episodes. Losing Dr. Cameron is a mistake that will only make things worse.

I love this episode, I never was a fan of the procedural aspect of the show, procedurals go through the same route episode after episode thus making it boring, what really keeps me reeled in is the development of House's character and I for one love all the emotions and situations that he is thrusted into in this season. Im sad that Cameron is leaving, albeit I'll be sad at any of the other characters leaving but House is the main draw for me, I love the other characters deeply, but as long as House is on the show no sharks have been jumped over as far as I'm concerned. The show thrives on turbulence and uncertainty so jumping the shark is 'sort of' unuseable in a sentence with the show House unless the words never could is in between.

I have actually jumped over a shark before, and I found it to be a good thing, since it was a hammerhead and if I wouldn't have jumped it would have taken my foot.
Here's another spoiler, Matthew Fox is leaving Lost after next season.
I have a suggestion for the spoiler issue, come up with a Spoiler Icon that you can attach to any article to indicate if there are spoilers within or not. Or do like IMDB does and have all your spoilerific article titles covered with a spoiler alert graphic that disappears if you mouse over it.
Now that that's out of the way, I enjoyed this episode, especially how House manipulated Chase and Cameron into ending the relationship early instead of dragging the thing out over possibly years. I think it was a mistake for the two to have married in the first place, so it's good to see my intuition was rewarded, even if the whole episode was secretly written by Secretary Thomas J. Vilsack and Secretary Shaun L.S. Donovan in association with the Homeland Security Department, at the request of the ATF in association with the CBI and the local law enforcement agencies of Los Angeles, under the cover of the Men In Black (ACDC) and PBS.

Maybe the House writers just demonized vicodin in the most ridiculous manner possible to justify forever ensuring Dr. House never touches it again independent of the DEA requests - despite vicodin use and chronic pain being a central character trait of Dr. House. No, it's far more likely that they got rid of House's vicodin use due to the multiple DEA requests, not any independent character/plot reasons. There was no reason to make House stop taking vicodin - especially in the ridiculous way in which they went about doing it.
I can't believe so many people don't think the DEA would formally complain about any TV show that has a drug-using protagonist who excels at his job, is incredibly smart, and suffers no ill effects from his drug use - which is shown repeatedly, on the air, by a very cool character. The DEA wouldn't be doing their (asinine) job if they didn't complain about such things and demand changes. They do it all the time. They've been complaining about House for years. Why Fox caved in now is the mystery. I always thought they added that whole "Tritter" arc to placate the DEA, though in the end House ended up getting away with everything and continuing his drug use ("abuse" in DEA language).
The pathetic thing is that someone with House's verifiable pathology and legitimate chronic pain would likely be on a much stronger medicine than Vicodin.

Bruce, given that this is a "verifiable fact," I'm certain you can naturally provide evidence in support of your assertion. Please note that "make a FOIA request" does not count as evidence since you are the one that has raised this claim, which means that the burden to substantiate your claim lays entirely on your shoulders.

I think this was the redeeming episode for House. Since he season stared, I have been kinda put off by the new and improved House. I don't watch the show for a guy working through his issues. I watch the show for a guy who manipulates people into doing what he was because he can't ask. It was nice to see the House from season 1 to 5 back. If he didn't try to manipulate the Team, then I would be shocked. With or without Vicodin, House is a jackass, but lately he was going soft, and I like that he has his edge back.
Also, Lucas is going to be a problem. I don't know where I read this, but someone said he went from being loving bonehead to major threat in that single conversation he had.
As for Cameron, leaving is very typical of her. Rather the stay and fight for their relationship, she runs away. And the last episode, in which she talks to House, her acting is spot on. I will miss her, I think. I enjoyed watching the tension between her and Chase (but not the awkwardness caused by their real life break up, won't miss that) but in the end, her leaving is for the best I feel. And this is the first episode since Chase's bachelor party that brought a smile to my face.
All in all, I feel that even without the Vicodin, House is finally back. He was manipulative and asinine, all biting sarcastic comments and mooching food of Wilson. Now is only they bring back the ridiculous clinic patients, I will be content.

Jesse, I totally agree. Cameron did euthanize the cancer doctor a few seasons ago. And it's not like she didn't think about killing the dictator, it's just that she couldn't go through with it. So I didn't see how this could be such a deal-breaker for her. This decision just didn't seem to be true to her character's growth.
I knew how the episode was going to end because news of the actress's departure leaked a while back, but it seemed too silly for that couple to stay on that extra day to help Foreman with the tests and allow themselves to be manipulated by House.
I was hoping that after Cameron gave House her goodbye speech and a kiss on the cheek, she would slap or punch him for f***ing with their lives. House's manipulation seemed so mean-spirited and like the old version of House. Who's to say the marriage could or would have survived? But at least let them try. For House to mastermind their divorce to get his team back seems cruel to the extreme.

Great episode.
Elated to see Taub back. Only seeing him teamed with Kutner could have made it better. Thirteen coming back isn't as big of a thrill, but the Foreteen chemistry does have it's occasional moments of interest, so no objections there. Adding a solo Chase to the mix is an interesting combination and I can foresee some interesting dynamics happening as Chase continues to deal with his life getting turned upside down.
Chase, House and Cameron. Two characters dodging the same bullet. One very self-righteous, manipulative, judgmental, high maintenance bullet. Cameron, the hammer "helping" all square pegs conform to her shiny, tidy world of round holes. "No way back"? They should be so lucky.
Lucas. If they have the stones for it, I would be entirely content with Cuddy and House never getting together and Lucas being her man, even with a ton of unresolved romantic tension about House. The tension would make it even better.
I can see the flashes of a potentially CreepyLucas in this episode, it's not like he wasn't more Monk with Asperger's than Magnum P.I. to begin with. But I'm not sure how I'd feel about him going over the edge into Gollum/Smeagolhood and having House ride to Cuddy's rescue in some form or other. I'm sure the writers could make it amusing enough, but it does feel like it could be a bit to fairy tale sappy. Who knows, it may (probably) will never happen.
One thing, am I reading it right that the little gal that was in the hall while Taub said he wanted back in with House was supposed to be another little muffin he had picked-up on the job? At first I thought it was his wife, but the later cut scenes showed that wasn't the case. If sho, he really does have trouble keeping it in his pants. Wow.

Lucas finds out about Chase killing the dictator and blackmails him into making House tell Cuddy that he hates her.
House will drug Lucas and request a brain biopsy from Cuddy to "save his life!" Cuddy will be torn; knowing that House now hates her, she will have a hard time believing that House has ulterior motives.
Cameron will move in with Thirteen and cause Foreman to have a stroke when he catches them together. House will request a brain biopsy to save Foreman, but Cuddy will stop him at the last second when she discovers that House still loves her.
A lovely DEA agent played by a real life DEA agent will infiltrate the hospital and make life miserable for House and Cuddy when she falls madly in love with Thirteen.
Hey, this writing for TV is waaaayyyy too easy.

Keep in mind, Jane, that the characters are simply representations of various attitudes in our society, and in Allison Cameron's case, that character is a representation of those who are straight-arrows, lives by ethics, and see the world in black/white, right/wrong, left/right, etc. So give "the character" a break :-)
