(S15E09) Things got a bit down and dirty tonight on The Amazing Race. I'm talking more ways than one. As the promos for the episode showed, we had muddy bogs and a quasi-skirmish between two teams tonight. There are five teams left in the race at this time. Two of the teams are definitely vying for the alpha male rating on the show. And I'm not talking Brian and Ericka! Any previous alliances are gone in the wind as the teams try to get to the precious final three. Take no prisoners.
I'm saddened that Gary and Matt were Philiminated tonight. Both Sam and Dan and the Globetrotters seem to have a chip on their shoulders, while Gary and Matt were just your basic Joes on the race. Sure, a basic Joe with pink hair, but it happens. They ended up doing themselves in rather than the speed bump from last week's non-Philimination getting to them. Unless it took them ages to get to the speed bump, it was only a five-minute sauna. Since all the teams started out even from the ferry, that's not a huge chunk of time.
Matt, perhaps not the brightest candle on the cake, didn't know the word "candelabra" or, at the very least, he didn't read it phonetically well. Once he finally figured it out, he tried to do a rubbing on the clue. Now, he can't be totally faulted for that, as one of the Globetrotters did the same thing. I do have some issue with the clue Matt got -- the word "pink" was "pik" and was the word "garden" even there? The lack of garden visible in the clue cost them more time trying to get into the tower. Sigh.
Megan and Cheyne redeemed themselves a bit this week. She didn't whine as much and they made it to first place. Hurrah for them ... I guess. I mean, it's admirable and all, but there's something about them which irks me. It's like they seem to feel entitled or something. I did have to chuckle when they won a sauna instead of a trip. The other couple, Brian and Ericka, didn't get a lot of airtime tonight. I don't really think they have what it takes to win it all.

Well, I re-watched the take-down on the planks a half dozen times. It looks to me like my boy Flight Time, in an effort to pull down one of the brothers, fell down himself first and dragged the brother with him. Oh, that's not right. I guess the brothers deserved to place before the bros. I just kept wondering how swampy it could be right there (it didn't look too bad) and thought the Globetrotters should have sprinted a straight line instead of using the plank path.
Once again I have to give The Amazing Race credit for making me curious to know more about a location or culture. This time it's the Brotherhood of the Blackheads. They should have one in New Jersey, I say.

Can anybody tell me, when Sam and Dan were playing volleyball in the bog, why the blurred out the crotch area? I thought that maybe it was because one of them how hot the Estonian guys looked and they got "excited." Maybe their shorts were just too "revealing" or maybe they just "flipped out"? It was fun to watch. Now where can I get an "unedited" version of that game?!

I really don't care whose fault it was on the take down mainly because I have come to loathe the brothers and still like the GBs...it sort of doesn't matter though as I think Cheyne and Megan are going to take it all. Not undeserving as they are very good racers.

I am not a fan of the Globetrotters even though at times they are funny. I do like the brothers but like Megan and Cheyne whine too much.
I think they were blurring there shorts because they were flopping around too much. Sometimes it was blurred out other times it wasn't.

Why would his clue have said "Pink"? Pink wasn't the clue... neither was Pik... Seriously, Jackie... come on... Piik.
And "Garden" was there, at the bottom, just like on every other team's clue... he just didn't use the flame that far down, and thus never saw the last word of the clue.
Next you'll be complaining that the brother's read "Tower" as "Tover" and blame the race for it...
As much as I hated to see Pinky and the Brain go, it was apparently their time.

I laughed when Ericka said that she couldn't do the volleyball challenge because she was wearing a thong. Every season there is at least one challenge where the participants must strip to their underwear. Why would she not have seen this situation coming? Of course, it always baffles me that people who are scared of heights or water go on the show.

Come on, stop hating on Meghan and Cheyne. They are good friends of my daughters, we have known them both since grade school and they are really fine people. Very caring of friends and family and supportive of each other.
They are focused and competitive and if they do win totally deserve it.
They can't help it that they are beautiful!

I watched the tape again too, and didn't see any elbowing from the bros. Flighttime engaged in dirty play and while talking to Phil, tried to make it sound like the bros had done the dirty play, and then said it was now open season to do so. Those two are giving the Globetrotters a bad name. For two guys who are 6'3 and 6'11 tall, that is just plain bullying and shouldn't be a part of The Amazing Race.

I think there were a couple of teams that should have been given penalties--they did not use their keys to get into the door for one of the clue boxes they followed other teams in,thus they didnt have to go thru the ring of keys-thus i feel like they got to skip a challenge giving them a leg up on the ones who went thru the process. ive seen other teams get penalties on a lot less.

I guess there was a lot of floppage going on so they decided to blur it out.
The GT's were trying to go around the brothers and because Sam ( or Dan) didn't let Flight Time pass he fell of the side of the pathway and took down Sam ( or Dan). It was an accident caused by Sam ( or Dan).

This is a race. Nobody has to LET someone else pass them. If the Globetrotters had run the right way in the first place, there wouldn't have been a problem at all.

I agree with those who think FlightTime caused the fall. He is a pro-athlete and used his skills. Bad form to blame it on (Sam/Dan) and open the door for more mean play. I never like that in this game.

The clue on the paper was actually "Pikk Hermann Tower garden". Pikk in estonian means tall. So there was no pink towers.. ;-)
