(S06E08) "I could see shooting someone over you." - The judge to Mike
This week, Susan had to face the fact that she accidentally shot Katherine a few weeks back. Sadly for Susan, she had to face a judge who had humor when giving sentences and who allowed Katherine to say a few words before sentencing Susan. As expected, things didn't turn out the way Susan would have wanted them to turn out. However, Susan got exactly the type of sentence that offered us some fun war scenes between Katherine and her.
Susan and Katherine
I would love for the judges where I live to have more creative freedom when sentencing, such as was the case in this week's episode. I wonder what sentence the judge would have given Susan if Katherine hadn't mentioned Susan trash-talking about Katherine to their neighbors. Maybe Susan would have had to clean up shooting ranges one empty bullet case at a time? Since Susan trashed Katherine, Susan had to pick up trash! Fitting sentence.
I didn't care much about Susan trying to sleep with Mike at least five times in one day, to match up what he and Katherine did when they were together. However, I enjoyed Katherine visiting Susan while she picked up trashed and ending up having to pick up trash herself! This storyline offered us some fun interaction between Susan and Katherine, including a breakdown from Katherine.
The war is so not over. The show needs to close this storyline soon, as it is starting to get a tad old, don't you think?
Lynette
It was no surprise to finally have Carlos learn the truth about Lynette's pregnancy. When Gaby felt the babies kick, I was sure that she ran to tell Carlos of the news. Carlos claimed that Gaby didn't tell him, but I find it weird that he quickly decided to send Lynette to Florida without talking to her about it first. After all, Tom and Lynette are some of Carlos' closest friends, so I would have expected him to at least sit down with Lynette and talk about moving to Florida before making the final call.
I expect a fierce showdown between Carlos and Lynette in the coming weeks. It's clear that she won't move to Florida, as it would mean moving the entire family. Lynette won't quit her job either, as she is currently the sole provider in the Scavos' household. Lynette will surely end up hiring Bob or another lawyer to help her fight Carlos over this issue. And you can bet that Carlos will not go down without a fight to the death.
Angie
Angie told Bree that she helped her get Karl out of the house for Orson's sake. I don't think Angie was 100% truthful. I can buy that she didn't want Orson to discover the affair since it hurt her (Angie) when she learned Nick cheated on her with Julie. However, Angie desperately needs friends on Wisteria Lane, especially friends that she can "use" later if she needs secret help.
What better way to make friends than to help out Bree by getting Karl out of the house but also pretending to have gossiped with Bree that night so Orson thinks that she (Angie) may have changed her mind about spying on Bree? Not only did she make two new friends, but she now knows of the affair, which she can use later to her advantage.
Nick
What about that secretive phone call at the end? I missed Nick's name when he introduced himself to the agent he called. Could it be Nick's real name? No matter, it looks like Nick is tired of being on the run and is ready to do something about it. He mentioned to the agent that he wanted to make sure "she" would get a pass. Is the "she" Nick referred to Angie or someone else Nick wants to protect? Have theories about this mysterious phone call? Share them in comments below.
The Waitress
I expect the waitress to be dead. Question is, who strangled her? All signs point towards Nick, since she overheard at least the end of his phone call. But could it be someone else who was at the coffee shop earlier that day? Julie? Angie? Maybe Danny, but we just didn't see him on screen? Someone else?
We'll have to wait two weeks for some answers, as Desperate Housewives is not airing on November 22.

it makes sense now that someone is watching Nick and trying to eliminate people he is close to or might be privvy to his secrets. whomever was tailing him that night must've killed the waitress, trying to eliminate a possible loose end. also, the "she" Nick was referring to was probably Julie, as i am sure this same person was trying to waitress Julie a few episodes back and he just wants to keep her safe.
i don't think Carlos knew about Lynette's pregnancy. i think he maybe figured she was the reason why the other guy didn't end up in Florida.

Just a heads up... I was on the Universal Studios tour last week where they film DH. There was a wrecked two engine (prop) small plane on "Wisteria Lane" which you could see from the tram. Although we weren't allowed down the street because the guide said they were filming DH.
Looks like a plane wreck is coming to the show.

I bet it was the waiter (that asked if the waitress that was flirting with Nick would steam some milk). If that's the place Julie was working at, then it would make sense, he'd have a tie to both of them. Plus, he looked kind of stalker-ish. lol

Carlos's line of "Lynette takes the job in Miami or leaves" doesn't work. Wouldn't Terrance have to take the job or leave first? Isn't it clearly discrimination if it's OK for the guy to turn it down, but not the pregnant woman????

Exactly. Also the insinuation he doesn't need her in her current position is garbage. So if Lynette left nobody would be doing what she has been doing for the company? Don't buy it, Carlos. The job isn't being eliminated.
Also I find it fishy to present it as a promotion to Lynette. It was to go to her underling first and it's a promotion for Lynette? Nope. If he was to be above Lynette if he accepted it I think Lynette would have noticed that.

Come on. Carlos knew about Lynettes pregnancy because Gabby told him straight after learning it herself. And that's why he's so pissed and he takes revenge by blackmailing Lynette to quit/go to Miami.

Maybe he should look at himself and wonder why maybe Lynette was hesitant to be forthcoming with him. He is a major problem in the situation when he engages in illegal discrimination and Lynette knows about it. I'd pity him much more if he didn't give Lynette a reason.

I was shocked to see Carlos act like this. Lynette will have little choice. He can easily make the argument that her job choice was to move to Miami or lose her job. She didn't notify him of the pregnancy so he didn't know (of course we know he did know) and this has nothing to do with whether she is pregnant. In the real world, Lynette would have a hard time proving discrimination. He really caught her in a loop. My problem is accepting that Carlos can be such a jerk. (Am I wrong?) Lynette is a fabulous worker, a great asset to the team. Why would he throw all that away just because she's going to be gone for a short maternity leave. Carlos does not seem like a character who would confuse business with personal vendettas. Again, maybe I'm wrong. It seems out of character for Carols.

But I don't see how Carlos could act like he gave Lynette a choice (as in it was a business necessity, not a vendeta) because her job there is not going to be eliminated. It would be one thing if there was nothing for her to do in Fairview but Carlos is full of it if he acts like he didn't need anyone to do what Lynette does at the home office.

My take is that Carlos is angry (Gaby definitely told him) and he is basically firing Lynette. Only, he knows he can't actually legally "fire" her since she is pregnant so he forces her to move "for business reasons" and even presents it as a promotion to make it even less defendable for Lynette as a case of discrimination. I for one am not entirely surprised about Carlos' reaction here. People seem to have forgotten about the angry and vengeful Carlos from the early seasons...
