(S07E09) "You don't loan Jason anything ... anything that can be inserted." - Jerry Seinfeld to Larry David, about the pen Larry loaned to Jason Alexander

It's me, the Fill-In Girl! And thank you so much, Jonathan, for leaving me with the mammoth responsibility of writing a thoughtful review about the Seinfeld reunion on Curb Your Enthusiasm. I'll do my best.

First of all, it was really great to see the gang back together again. It's like they've never been apart, and the whole scenario of a behind-the-scenes look at a table read of a Seinfeld reunion show put together by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld was pretty brilliant.

And yet, it fit right in with Curb, bringing in elements like Cheryl being Larry's real wife and are they together or not, and is she a real actress or not...

Bear with me here, because I haven't watched every single episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, but I've watched enough to know that Larry routinely gets himself into irritating situations and is himself irritating. And Jeff Garlin is good friends with Michael Moore, so I see Jeff hanging around the Traverse City Film Festival every summer. That's my two or three degrees to Larry David.

Groat's Disease. I had to look this up, and apparently, it's a fictional disease created for Curb. The whole set-up with Kramer having it and Larry suggesting he see a particular Jewish doctor who, oops, turns out has been dead for two months, so he gets Leon to pretend to be the doctor ... it was all pretty funny. But what I loved most about it was how everything came down to Kramer getting into a situation where he's slamming the black "Jewish" guy in public. Only he wasn't Jewish. Very twisty turny and hilariously poking fun at the whole real-life situation with Michael Richards. I dunno, any Jewish readers of TV Squad offended by this storyline?

The pen. You could just see Larry David about ready to spontaneously combust when Jason Alexander was scratching his back with the borrowed pen, chewing on it, sticking it in his ear ... I wouldn't have wanted the pen back either. It all worked out when the replacement pen Jason gave him ended up being the perfect present for Emma -- another funny storyline that I could totally see Larry getting into. Really, he shouldn't be allowed near anyone under the age of 21.

Marty Funkhouser. What a revolting joke about the women with the large opening. We watch Seinfeld all the time in this house, so I thought it might be fun for the kids to see the reunion show, but Hello! It's HBO, Jane. We decided the whole thing about the kid's pussy and the Marty joke was all too much, so changed the channel and I retreated to my office TV. Good call, too, because the scene with Larry in the doctor's office saying he was seeing a nine-year-old girl but they had a fight and made up, and the implication that he caught the rash from the girl's pussy was a bit too much (but amusing in a completely and totally politically incorrect way).

Other fun stuff:

"Don't blow your nose in a cloth napkin! Sneezing is different!" Just the sort of story you'd find on a Seinfeld episode. They haven't lost their touch after eleven years (it ended its run in 1998).

George losing a bunch of money in a Ponzi scheme, but his ex-wife asking George to sign a prenup and taking her half out of Madoff right after the divorce -- yeah, I can see it.

Jerry donated the sperm for Elaine's kid?

"Who needs this? She's getting on my nerves! How do I end this thing?" - Larry, on ditching Emma as a pen pal, who just texted him: "Do you watch The Wizards of Waverly Place?"

Jerry saying he keeps his pens in Barbicide.

"Hello, Newman."

The interior of Jerry's apartment is exactly the same, right down to the cereal.
