(S01E04) "Yeah, and I didn't even have to go to prison first." - Lauren, after Caffrey pointed out that she just joined the team

I want Neal Caffrey's life. He gets out of jail by promising to help the FBI with cases with his expertise in ... well, just about everything. And he gets to do it from the penthouse apartment of an incredibly cool Manhattan mansion. This is a lesson for all the kids out there. If you are going to be a criminal, make sure those crimes are in fields where the U.S. government will have no choice but to take you out of jail and have you help them because they can't solve cases without you.

Oh, and I also want Peter Burke's dog.

This episode tied in current events (the war in Iraq) with yet another mysterious case for Burke and Caffrey to solve. That's probably stretching a plot a little bit to have it fit in to current events, but it also made for a very enjoyable episode. The military husband of Elizabeth's (have to get her into the episode somehow) friend is being framed for a crime, and of course she goes to her hubby at the office so he and Caffrey can figure things out.

My favorite scene was how Caffrey got into the TV station by buying a bunch of cups of coffee and asking the guard to reach into his pocket to get his security card. The guard didn't want to do that so he just let him in. I don't know if that would happen in real life, at least not with the security guard at least asking "what department are you in again?" But it does show that you can get into a lot of places if you act friendly and act like you belong there. Anyway, it's a nice little scene, with Caffrey pretending to be the new sports anchor and Burke distracting the reporter while Caffrey photocopies evidence. It's all ridiculous but fun.

All that was well and good, but the big news in this episode was ... Burke finally met Moz! I thought they'd hold off on that for more episodes but it was another fun scene, Burke getting Moz to drink so he'll talk. And that's what this show comes down to -- fun. And while this episode had the bad guy trying to run away and getting caught quickly (like the lame endings of the past couple of episodes), at least it was done comically by Moz, running him over with the limo. That's a neat touch, and shows Burke he could be an asset in the future.
