The Mentalist
(S02E07) "This man ... I don't even know what he is. He is an accident waiting to happen." - Bosco about Jane

Don't adjust your computer screen. The picture above was not tempered with: Jane and Bocso are in the same area and are not at each others' throat! As Bob hinted at the end of his review of last week's The Mentalist episode, the "Jane and Bosco having to work closely together on a case" episode we've been expecting since Bosco joined the show has finally arrived!

It wasn't surprising to hear Bosco voice his negative opinion about having to work with Jane. Bosco doesn't like Jane and he thinks Jane is a sort of a fraud. On the other side, it wasn't surprising either to see that Jane wanted to work with Bosco since it would allow him to get closer to the man in charge of the Red John investigation. Thanks to Minelli ordering both teams to work together, as well as Lisbon reminding Bosco that Jane solves cases, Bosco ended up agreeing to the teaming.

I don't know if it was the case for you, but I could barely stay focused on the case of the week because I was too busy analyzing the non-verbal communication Jane and Bosco used when in the room with the other, as well as the dialog they shared. It was really fun to see Jane kiss Bosco's you know what with compliments and thank yous in other to get on the cop's good side so that maybe he (Jane) could get a glimpse at Red John's files.

If it hadn't been for Lisbon's speech about how valuable Jane has been to CBI and her career, I'm pretty sure Bosco would have found a way to throw Jane out of the case.

The best Bosco and Jane scene was definitely when the two of them visited the gang members. Jane seemed so scared of having to interrogate killers/gang members but he sucked it up since staying in the car could have cost him points in Bosco's book, meaning less chances to get info on Red John. "Agent" Jane showed during that scene that he is definitely not a real cop. Even if Bosco was roughing up an informant, he showed Jane just how a cop should act. That scene told a lot about each character. Jane may not be a real cop but he is a good investigator and proved it once again this week by suggesting the set-up to catch the mole and save the day.

Bosco may have caved in the end by agreeing to go forward with Jane's plan and also by giving him part of Red John's files. However, Jane and Bosco are far from friends, and Jane still has a lot to prove to fully get Bosco's confidence.

Loved the scenes between Rigsby and Van Pelt. It wouldn't surprise me that their relationship comes out by the end of November Sweeps.

Oh, and in case you can't put the finger on where you saw the actress who played Verona before, that's Meredith Monroe who played Andie McPhee on Dawson's Creek.
