(S03E09) "Nobody puts Jenny in a corner." - Gossip Girl
Even if this was Jenny's episode, the much talked about threesome scenes stole the show.
The Parents Television Council (PTC) tried to get the network not to air this week's episode of Gossip Girl due to the threesome scene it included. In a letter sent out to the network, the PTC claims The CW's decision to air the episode is "reckless and irresponsible." In the same letter, they mention that by airing this scene, the network is, in a way, letting young kids know that they should take part in such sexual behaviors.
The threesome
I didn't find the threesome scenes too graphic. We saw Olivia kiss Dan and Vanessa and the two latter also kiss. Then we saw the three of them in bed. Could there have been more to these scenes and The CW ended up asking the show to tone things down after receiving the PTC's letter?
The interesting part of the threesome will come in the coming weeks; Olivia is not leaving NYU anymore since the movie was canceled. I suspect that the threesome may have unearthed Dan and Vanessa's romantic feelings for one another. This could lead to very awkward scenes, especially when Olivia is around.
Will the three of them be able to remain friends now? How will roommates Vanessa and Olivia now interact with one another? Will there be jealousy? How will Dan be affected by all of this? Will he have to chose between Vanessa and Olivia? Share your theories on how this story will unfold in comments below.
I hope that Olivia sticks around and continues dating Dan. As I've said before, I really like the two of them together. As for Vanessa, I prefer her as one of Dan's best friends.
"Goodbye Jenny from Brooklyn." - Jenny to herself
Little J from Brooklyn has definitely left the building. She is so consumed by her need for power and is ready to do a lot to reach the top, even be mean to her loved ones and friends. It looks like she will become a meaner Queen Bee now that she was officially presented to the world, with Nate as her escort no less.
Jenny now refers to her "court" as her "minions" and acts towards them almost as badly as Blair did to her own minions when she was at Constance. It won't be easy for Eric to have mean Jenny come down from her pedestal and get back in Little J's shoes since Jenny seems focused on her end goal -- be Upper East Side's Queen Bee -- and doesn't listen to her friends' suggestions as she used to before.
As Jonathan pointed out when he broke up with Eric, the latter changed and not for the best. Eric showed that he too can manipulate people and lie. Even if Eric had a somewhat noble cause -- get Little J back, I didn't enjoy seeing him side with Blair, lie to Jenny, use Jonathan and Kira, to achieve his goal. The show needs at least one "pure" teenage character and Eric was pretty much it until now since he rarely lied or manipulated people like this before. Sadly, it looks like manipulator Eric will stick around for a while as he clearly stated that Jenny would pay and that he would try to dethrone her.
What did you think of the episode? Did you like how Chuck and Nate's plan to get Blair and Serena to patch things up? Do you think Serena and Trip will be able to just be friends and act professionally towards the other?

That's one way to make a threesome unappealing... include Dan Humphrey. I actually have no problem with Vanessa (as a lot of fans do) and I find Olivia a breath of fresh air this season. But I've never liked Dan Humphrey and I nearly lost my dinner when he kissed Vanessa.
I actually disagree with you about Eric. I'm *glad* he's growing a sort of backbone. It will be interesting to see these new versions of Eric and Jenny go at it. And to think, I thought we wouldn't see that much drama in that world now that the main cast are in college.

I will unabashedly confess that I primarily follow Gossip Girl through on-line reviews. However, did I miss something? Well, obviously, I did. However, didn't Vanessa just convince Dan of her undying friendship two episodes ago? So, who introduced the idea of the party of 3?
Also, minor petty comments on the minions. Is it just me or are they not as attractive as the minions of the previous QB? Also, despite the leather jackets and patterned tights, they still feel less wardrobe coordinated that QB 1.0.

The idea of the party of 3 came when Olivia was supposed to leave NYU to shoot another movie sequel. Since she wanted to be in college to get the normal college experience, they somehow got a list of 11 things you should do in college and a threesome was #11.

You have to remember that Gossip Girl airs on a major network while Californication airs on cable. GG can't get away with as many details as Californication can.
However, even for a network show, I found the threesome scene not that big of a deal. We saw love scenes that were much more details. Which is why I ponder if the PTC letter may have made the show edit out part of the threesome.
