Castle: Kill the Messenger
(S02E08) "I've been bombarded with friend requests. It's like a full-time job." - Martha, on her new "MyFace" page

The interaction between Castle and Beckett, and between Castle and his family, continue to be more interesting to me than the cases themselves. I like the old-fashioned whodunnit-type storylines, but find myself looking forward to the non-case scenes. That said, Castle still contains a good mix of something for everyone, whether you like the cases or the relationships.

While watching tonight's episode, I also found myself thinking, if only Nathan Fillion would follow me around while I'm working. I probably wouldn't get much done, though.

My favorite part of this episode was Alexis setting up a "MyFace" page for Martha, Martha fretting over how to deal with an old suitor after she uploaded a 20-year-old photo to her page, and then deciding that she's fabulous just as she is. And Castle and Alexis loving her just as she is. Castle is a great primer for how a family should behave -- accept each other as is and love them for the person they are -- flaws and all.

I only caught part of my favorite Richard Castle quote of the night, so feel free to post the whole thing in the comments if you caught it -- something about nuclear launch codes and Dick Cheney's soul.

We got a little bit more of Captain Montgomery in this episode, and how his 10-year-old case came back to haunt him. I was thinking that he really didn't go far enough to nab the right killer back then, and it sort of fell on him that the wrong person ended up in jail. But I guess in a philosophical way, that's how it was supposed to go down, since the money his wife received each month helped to save their son.

I also want to mention that this episode was directed by Jonathan Frakes, who has blazed a really nice trail as a director and producer. Some people would come off a hot show like Star Trek: The Next Generation, and sort of fade away, but he's managed to stay relevant in the entertainment industry.

Other stuff:

"Nothing good comes from the Internet." - Martha

Beckett and Castle's simultaneous answers when asked whether they're "together":
Beckett: "Absolutely not."
Castle: "Not yet."

"1980s Martha was pretty good, but present day Martha is pretty spectacular, too. - Castle

"Is the body missing, or did you just pull off an awesome magic trick? You are amazing, Sir!" Castle, on the missing body in the casket

"Isn't a magnifying glass standard issue for detectives?" - Castle
"No, not since Sherlock Holmes." - Beckett

"Are you looking at porn?" - Beckett
"I use Ryan's computer for that." - Castle

"Is insanity inherited?" - Alexis
