Cartoon Network is getting deeper into the live action series game.Yes, I know that's like Fox Sports getting into the daytime soap opera business, but you can't get too upset about the network inappropriate name game. Remember when Bravo was the fine arts network? I rest my case.
As for Cartoon Network's new non-animated shows, a release from the network says Tower Prep and Unnatural History are headed our way in January, 2010.
According to the network, Tower Prep is "an action thriller telling the story of rebellious teen, Ian (Drew Van Acker), who wakes up one morning to find himself trapped at a mysterious prep school." In other words, it's a teenage remake of The Prisoner -- the original 1960s version -- or "Jim Henson's The Prisoner Babies."
Unnatural History is an "action-packed mystery centering around Henry Griffin (Kevin G. Schmidt / right), a teenager with exceptional skills acquired through years of globe-trotting with his anthropologist parents and his cousin Jasper (Jordan Gavaris). In other words, it's "Jim Henson's 'The (Even Younger) Indiana Jones Chronicles' Babies" with parents and potential comedy relief along for the ride. In retrospect, Unnatural History is a better title.
Based on how these top-dippings into full-time live action production, we'll see how many more remakes head our way.

Cartoon Network (Or are we supposed to call them "CN" now?) has become such an utter piece of crap since the suits decided they had to compete with Disney, slash budgets to the bone and forget what the network was there for in the first place (Sound familiar? Can you say "SyFy"?) Hopefully their steadily declining rating will kill the network completely and save us all the misery. Animation is dead anyway, killed by clueless corporate beancounters.

Until Cartoon Network has more than 50% of its line up of "live action" shows, I think it is silly to to be so hard on the network.
Out of all the shows it has, only about 7 are live action. That is 7 shows out of 30. If you include the 2 new live action shows, that would bring the count up to 9. Yet the network is introducing 9 new animated shows. So for ever 2 live shows, we get 9 new animated shows. Sounds like they are still committed to Cartoons.
