Shambo is indeed eternally out of the loop. It's hilarious. None of the ex-Galu men ever tell her anything and so she ends up being the only one other than Erik to vote Jaison.

I thought the immunity challenge was a bit odd in that they only got one shot. Normally they give them at least a couple tries.

I also thought it was a bit awkward when one of the ex-Galu members outed the fact that Russel had the idol to the ex-Foa Foa members. Assuming they didn't know before that point -- which we were lead to believe since Russel lied point blank to his teammates about not having it -- then it must have been really weird to have learned that tidbit from the enemy so to speak. I guess it's fitting that Russel would tip his hand only when he needs something and he didn't need anything from his ex-Foa Foa members since he already had their trust.

In any case it was nice to see the idol get flushed out, and amusing that Probst didn't even bother to ask if anybody wanted to play it. I must say, after so many seasons of people being voted out with the idol in hand that they didn't play (*cough* James *cough*) it was nice to see someone actually go the other way and play it when it wasn't necessary.

The previews for next week really made it look like Rus is in trouble, but I have a feeling he'll weasel his way out of it. He makes for compelling story lines, at the very least, so I hope he makes it far. Ultimately, it would be hilarious to see him try to state his case against a jury full of people that he lied to and backstabbed. But something tells me that they might just vote him anyway if he did make it that far just out of respect for the "game playing", as long as he owns up to his snakey ways in his jury speeches. But that's putting the horse in front of the cart so to speak.

Russell has ALWAYS made it known that he is in it to win it not to make friends , i mean he called the girls his "dumb blondes" or whatever...because he was playing them!


LOVED erik and Shambos face when the FIFTH vote was read for ERIK, because they knew it was one of thier own!

If Russell should make it to the Jury, he is so narcissistic that his ego would insist he tell everyone how dumb they are, and how he played them all. He couldn't possibly go without patting himself on the back at getting to the final three. Hopefully he would talk himself out of the win, like Erik talked himself right out of the tribe.

Even though it was briefly talked about, I think Russell panicked by playing the idol. There just wasn't any need to play it. Great blindside with Erik though. High point to an otherwise pretty dull season so far.

ha ha I love it, the guy who needed to play his idol didn't and the guy who didn't have to play his idol did :/
And Jeff said Eric was the first member of the jury BLAH ! that means a 9 person jury with 3 finalists I HATE THAT ! I like it better when its a 7 person jury with 2 finalists.

I'm LOVING this season of Survivor.

I want to put something out there. . .Does Foa Foa (or just Russell) have a curse on them because of Russell's hijinks the first few days?! (aka pouring out water and burning socks?) Discuss. Here are a few of my points just from this episode.

1. Russell loses the immunity challenge. He was in the lead until the last person, John beats him.

2. Laura wins immunity. After Russell spends a day(s) of scheming and seemingly convincing enough people to vote her off, she wins immunity, foiling his plan.

3. He's kept mostly out of the loop, during one of the best sequence of events in Survivor history. Forcing him to use his immunity idol for no reason (rather use it and lose it then go home with it in your pocket) and making him devulge he'll do ANYTHING to stay in the game

Russell only played his idol because he didn't get to decide who was going home. He took the chance and it didn't work out for him. I thought it was a great show when you get to backdoor someone.
Even though the previews for next week show them going after Russell, he's either going to win immunity or change things up. They never give it away.

Russell zeroes in on anyone who "disrespects" him. Since Laura was "taken out" of his plan and he'd pretty much lost control of who was getting voted out, I think he used his hidden idol out of panic. They "said" Erik would be voted out but since he trusts no one, he used the idol "just in case". I think it hilarious that he demands respect but offers none himself to anyone. Telling just about everyone that he had the idol was bound to bite him in the butt. That was a totally dumb move. I'm glad he used it and hope that it ends up being his downfall. I've had enough of the slimy "oil salesman".

I never understood why the person who found the hidden immunity idol would tell someone else. It has never helped them get to the end of the game. The other contestants plot to flush the idol out and then gun for you the next available chance.

For one, this season stops being interesting if Russell is voted off. I can't see him winning, but the way the show has been edited so far, what else have they got? No one else is interesting.

As much as they are hyping Russell to be the biggest survivor villian ever, I never like villians but I like Russell. He is very very smart and is playing the game perfectly unlike coach from last year. He showed his idol to try to gain some respect and to get the people from Galu to listen to him and by him using the idol keeps him from keeping his promise of giving the idol to them at any time and he will not get blind sided to flush the idol out. He came in with a well thought plan and is doing a perfect job perfecting it. Does a lot of work at camp and great job in challenges.

But Galu did say they would flush the idol out and they did just that. They don't trust Russell and will trust him less after what he said at tribal. Russell has no protection now. He was worried enough about that vote that he was forced to use the idol. Too bad for him it was a needless move. Whether they do it this week or next, they have an excellent opportunity to blindside him now. Ol' Russ is getting nervous since the merge and he's making mistakes. He doesn't have the control he thought he would have. If nothing else, his big yap will do him in.

Gives some insight into why she's totally out of the loop, huh? LOL! Poor Shambo. I respect her in some ways, but she just doesn't have the social skills to play this game.

I agree with you 100%. When the season started, I had "Evil" Russell up there with the likes of Johnny Fairplay and Coach, but he has grown on me. I'd actually like to see him win for the same reasons that I rooted for Richard Hatch in Season One. And like Hatch, I doubt I'd like the guy in real life, but for how he's playing the game, I only have kudos.

I wouldn't miss Survivor. I look up on my pc who is playing, and print it off so I can keep up with the game. I have all 20 printed out. I myself hope they get rid of Laura, I cannot stand her. At first it was Russell but after watching her, I would vote for him anytime.
