Rosie O'Donnell reminds me of a sexually transmitted disease.I might have enjoyed my first experience that brought me in contact with her. But she's grown painfully irritating over the years, and I can't seem to get rid of her now. No matter what happens, she just keeps coming back to irritate me further -- leaving me to wonder what ever led me to welcome her irritation in the first place.
When O'Donnell proved too annoying even for The View, and then flamed out on her disastrous one-off variety show, I thought we'd seen the last of her. But it looks like we'll at least "hear" from her again, as she's moved away from the TV talk circuit and taken a gig hosting her own satellite radio talk show on Sirius XM.
O'Donnell was funny for 15 minutes back in the 80s. A decent stand-up and adequate actor, her movie career probably peeked with A League of their Own. In recent years, she's produced little of artistic value and instead keeps herself in the headlines by spouting off about random causes to any microphone caught in her gravitational field. She became a poster child for every "celebrity" who somehow believes we all desperately want to know what said "celebrity" thinks -- so we can think like they do and be right about everything.
Now, she gets to spin her wheels on satellite radio. I have to believe the Sirius XM people set her up before a mike hoping she'll say something genuinely stupid enough to dig up some publicity for the services' sagging ratings.

Hate Rosie O'Donnell. She is the personification of everything that is wrong with the left. Smarmy, intolerant, loudmouthed, and hypocritical. I used to at least respect her artistic work, but that went out the window long ago. One example of 'she that is Rosie' - a few years ago she was a big part of a push to outlaw handguns - no one but cops should be able to carry. Then we find out that her own kids' bodyguard was licensed to carry a sidearm and did daily. So, as usual, what's good for everyone else doesn't apply to her. Which is not a statement about how I feel about handguns, it's about the double standard.

She wanted to "outlaw handguns"?

She has been hugely anti-gun for years. My father actually boycotted K-Mart when she was a spokesperson because of her stance. I also boycotted them by default since I haven't spent money in a K-Mart in about 20 years.
For the most part, as a conservative, I've grown used to separating the politics from the art. I can (mostly) watch Alec Baldwin, for example, because he is usually a good enough actor to make me forget his politics. But Rosie? She had a pretty good stand up act, but I'm not sure I've ever seen her in a movie where I enjoyed her performance.

I think if you're a fan of talk radio, you'll like Rosie. But, I think she's more entertainment than anything. She reminds me of the opposite version of Rush.

For whatever reason I enjoy listening to her speak on just about anything even though I disagree with a lot of her views.
In fact, I am struggling to think of any talk personality other than her who I disagree with so much and yet enjoy listening to.

What you said. Disagree with her on a lot of things but somehow I still like her? I can't figure it out. lol
I think she'll do great on Sirius, unlike a lot of other celebrities that they throw a radio show at and then figure out ,*gasp*, you actually have to have some TALENT to do a good radio show that people actually want to listen to. IMAGINE THAT.

Again, what you said. I'm a hardcore conservative and listen to Sirius pretty much all day when I'm working. I listen to mostly talk with some music thrown in there when I'm burned out on it all. Can't say I'm that big a Rosie fan but I did hear her on Howard when she did the whole announcement last week and it was a terrific interview. She's definitely got the "gift of gab" and should do well on the radio. I'm sure being uncensored by management will help although who knows what her show will probably morph into as she gets comfortable.
Bottom line - will I listen? Probably not but then again, Sirius already has my money whether I listen or not so I'm not their target audience here.
