THAT IS SO WRONG!!! THE PRICE IS RIGHT WAS ON IN THE LATE 1950'S HOSTED BY BILL CULLEN. BOB BARKER WAS THE HOST STARTING IN 1972 (AFTER TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES WENT OFF THE AIR).

I was waiting for someone to mention this. The Price is Right is one of the very first game shows I remember from the mid 1950's. I'm not sure if it went off the air and came back in 1972 (that may be what they mean) but it was certainely on in the 1950's.

The '50's version of TPIR was a totally different concept. It was the same 4 contestants for the entire show, it was "repeat" bidding, and they could "freeze" their bidding. I'd say the '70's version is about 90% different.

i remember when i was a kid and playing the price is right w/ friends . we would act like we were on the show .what a fond memory ! now i'm 46 dang the time does fly . to a 7000 more shows.
