(S03E08) "Bla
ir and Serena at war again? Yummy!" - Gossip GirlI disagree with Gossip Girl on this. Blair and Serena at war again? Same old. Same old. Once again, Blair and Serena are at odds while wanting to be friends. Can we move on?
I'm tired of Blair and Serena breaking up, making up, fighting, backstabbing one another, not understanding one another, etc. I hope the writers planned for the duo to not cross paths for a few episodes so we can get some quiet time before they fight some more and then make up.
The election
It wasn't much a surprise to see that someone inside the Van Der Bilt's camp was ready to stage a drowning so that Trip could save the day and get votes out of it. The way the episode was set up, a lot of people could have been suspected of being behind the hoax:
- Trip's grandfather was suspect #1 since he did things like that before, including wanting that fake picture to be leaked.
- Nate could have been suspected since he loves his cousin and, as Vanessa pointed out to him, Nate changed and not necessarily for the best. He lied, used Serena and took part in the fake picture plan.
- Trip could have set up the hoax too in order to get elected.
- Even before the reveal, we could have suspected Trip's wife since having Trip win meant money, the spotlight, etc.
- Vanessa. Yes, you read right. As I was watching the show, someone sent me an IM a few minutes after Trip saved the day telling me they suspected Vanessa because she could sell the footage for big money and start making a name for herself.
In the end, Trip's wife was revealed as the culprit. I'm pretty sure this will come out at one point. But what will Trip be willing to do then? He was pretty quick in saying that he would withdraw if his grandfather didn't admit to the press he staged the hoax. Will he hide the fact his wife did it and stay with her to protect appearances? Or will he tell the public his wife did it and divorce her?
Until Trip learns the truth about his wife's involvement with the hoax, I sense that the newspapers and TV networks will have another scandal to cover: Trip having an affair with Serena. Let's make it juicier: Trip having an affair with Serena, one of his employees! After all, Serena just quit her job and she needs something else to do next. How about working for her new friend Trip?
Olivia
Are there any GG fans out there who don't like Olivia? Her faux pas during her interview with Jimmy Fallon was cutesy. Celebrities are somewhat pressured to tell fun facts and events when on talk shows; Olivia, who didn't prepare for the interview since she wanted to be herself while with Fallon, told the first story that came to mind. Yes, the story had people make fun of Dan but, as he pointed it out, she redeemed herself by mentioning their first month anniversary.
I love seeing Dan with Olivia. They are really good for one another and are even interesting to see on screen. I hope the show gets Hilary Duff to stick around longer than planned. You?
Jenny
Somehow, I don't buy that Jenny has really been sick for a week. How about she didn't want to face Eric and Jonathan at school right now as they would more than likely try to challenge her Queen Bee status again? She's letting the dust settle a bit before getting back in the game.

i loved this episode.
by far, this is one of the better ones in this season.
i didn't sleep for the whole duration.(yess)
i am beginning to get used to having olivia in the show, and i somehow like it (really)
blair and serena catfights don't really bother me.
i may not be team blair nor team serena,
but i have to say chuck's wisdom words to Serena abt his girlfriend may have made a big point. (that part was my favorite.)
all in all, thumbs up.
it made my day worthwhile.
