There's good casting and then there's great casting. NCIS has had a propensity for great casting when it comes to the father's of the core characters. Michael Nouri has been spot on as Ziva's autocratic Israeli father. Ralph Waite was a surprising, but superb, choice as Jethro's down to earth father. Now, we've just heard the news that there's another pop coming to NCIS.
If you haven't read about the famous TV star chosen and you don't want to know about it, please, don't read any further. However, if you can handle casting without feeling like the story lines are spoiled, follow after the jump.
According to Mike Ausiello, Robert Wagner is play Tony DiNozzo's dad. The good looks, the suave sophistication, the wry sense of humor and dazzling smile that typify Robert Wagner, are all qualities that actor Michael Weatherly shares. In fact, the 2004 TV movie The Mystery of Natalie Wood, Michael played Robert Wagner. You see what I mean about perfect casting?
It's not just that Weatherly played Wagner. It's always been evident that Michael would fit into roles that RJ (that's what he's called by friends, and after watching him in movie, on TV in It Takes a Thief, Switch and Hart to Hart, I feel like we are friends) has played. I think a remake of It Takes a Thief with Wagner as Alastair Mundy and Weatherly and Alexander Mundy would be a terrific TV movie remake.
For now, I'll be happy to watch the NCIS teamwork. It'll be the show's 150th episode, and if things go according to the rest of this season, about 20 million viewers will be watching.

One minor thing. That means that Tony's dad is just a year a half younger than Gibbs's dad - Robert Wagner, born February 1930; Ralph Waite, born June 1928.

If Mark Harmon leaves the show it will be the death of NCIS. The other characters are good also, but Mark Harmon makes it.
Please keep the show as it is and many viewers will be thrilled.
Thanks
