(S06E06) "Aren't you glad I'm not crazy anymore?" - Katherine to Susan
To our pleasure and amusement, Katherine is still crazy and maybe even more than before. She is so deeply in denial that she can't see the truth anymore and thinks her make-believe world is accurate.
I've had to teach a teen who was in such a denial a few years back -- he was making up all sort of lies to hide the fact that things weren't going well at home, so he made up this "other and better" life. I can tell you that it's extremely difficult to help the person come back to reality and also to differentiate if what they tell us is true or false, since they are really convincing as, to them, their world is accurate. It needs a lot of therapy to help someone like that come back to reality.
Since Katherine is not getting the help she needs to deal with her denial, fantasies and problems, she will keep plotting to get Mike back and hurt people in the process, including herself. It won't be pretty when she'll hit rock bottom.
Katherine
I wonder what it will take for Katherine to snap out of it. Maybe it's time her daughter comes back home to check on her mother, witness the craziness and talk to her. Hearing from her daughter, whom she rarely sees, that she is in denial and acting crazy may do the trick to open Katherine's eyes.
In the meantime, Katherine must watch her back because now Susan and Angie are coming after her. Susan wants Katherine to stop trying to get Mike back while Angie wants to make sure Katherine won't dig deeper in the Bolens' secrets and won't press charges against Susan, which could lead to the cops finding the gun and discovering who the Bolens really are.
Angie
Once again this week, Angie showed us that she is a master manipulator. She was rather quick on her feet to give fake explanations and reasons to Katherine's questioning.
Angie told Katherine that her (Angie's) mother is dead. In reality, she isn't. Her mother knows they are on the run and that they can't go see her. Angie even used a prepaid phone to call her mother so that the call can't easily be traced back to the Bolens.
As you can see, we didn't learn much more about the Bolens' secret. However, they are starting to slip out, which will make it harder for them to keep their secrets ... well, secret!
Bree and Karl ... and Orson
What a surprise was it to see Karl ask Bree to marry him? It was clear that Karl liked Bree a lot, but marriage? So soon? Then again, maybe I shouldn't have been that surprised since this won't be his first marriage.
The whole broach fiasco was fun to see unfold. As Susan pointed out, it was also nice to hear her say good things about Karl for once. What Susan doesn't know is that her good words about Karl and her admission that she would have probably given him a second chance if he asked for it and promised to change played a critical part in Bree's answer to the marriage proposal.
Do you think Karl will be able to follow Bree's orders for her to ultimately say yes?
Poor Orson. He tried to do good to his wife by trying to replace the broach only to learn that she told a lie about where she got it. Orson is an intelligent man. Now that he has a clue, it won't take long for him to connect the dots and discover the affair. The question is, what will Orson do when he learns the truth? As Bree told Karl, God knows what Orson will do when he discovers the affair!
Tom and Lynette
It's not the first time that Lynette doesn't want to bend the rules for someone else but allows herself to do so when she is concerned. Tom was right when saying that his cheating is like Lynette's lie about her pregnancy. Both are doing bad things in order to save their future. They may have a noble "cause" for lying and cheating, but it doesn't make what they're doing right.
Lynette asked Tom to stop cheating and get help to get better grades. She should apply her suggestion to herself, too: tell Carlos and her friends the truth and get help to keep her job even if she is pregnant. I'm pretty sure Tom and Lynette will have to pay for their bad deeds in the next few episodes.
Gaby and Juanita
It was one thing to have the other mothers tell Gaby that she was a bad mother. But hearing it from her own daughter is something else. Juanita didn't say it out loud, but her lack of answer when Gaby asked her if she was a good mother said it all.
As I've said before, Gaby is not the worst mother out there and she is willing to learn. However, it's time Gaby stops reacting and starts thinking before acting. If she had taken a small pause to think of the consequences when with the principal, Gaby would have probably expressed herself differently.
Homeschooling is not a bad option at all. But where Juanita is concerned, it's not a good option. Juanita can't see her friends anymore and they can't come to her home because of the monkey incident. Plus, Gaby is not a good teacher, as she isn't up-to-date with world events and other school subjects. It's a lose-lose situation for poor Juanita, don't you think? Let's hope Gaby tries to get her daughter back to school asap!

Poor Orson? The man ran over Mike, is a klepto and is now blackmailing his wife to stay with him.
Do I think Bree is 100% innocent in everything? No. But I'd never think of Orson as "poor Orson."

I felt Gabby's frustration with that principal. When Carlos said, "I wish you hadn't said that", my husband gave me that all knowing look. That look that said, "When did they have a camera pointed at us."
And for the record... I am so over that Katherine/Susan/Mike storyline. They need to move it up a notch, or kill it.

I'm not saying Lynette is blameless, but I see it as a different situation. Lynette didn't randomly hide her pregnancy for no reason, Carlos was the one who skirted the rules at the start. Tom knew about Lynette's deception and while it was convenient and benefiting him (more money, he can still follow his latest dream and stay in college) he ran with it-he accepted it. When he gets caught cheating himself that's when it suddenly becomes an issue because it can be a smoke screen to change the subject from his wrong doings. (which were hidden from Lynette, unlike hers from him)

I work at a university that is targeted at adult learners; not the students coming straight from high school. I really liked the way Tom portrayed the anxiety and truthfulness of self when he basically said that he'll never pass Stats on his own. Which is the minimum requirement btw, I'm glad the writers did their homework.

I went to college later in life and understood his anxiety. Stats made me cry - on more than one occasion! Though I didn't cheat. Catholic college - I'm Catholic - the guilt would have killed me! ;-)

I had one question that bothered me throughout the episode. I got the impression Juanita was kicked out of a private school and that Carlos then tried to get her enrolled in other private schools to no avail. What about Public School.
If Juanity was kicked out of public school then it would make more sense, but last I checked, a principal cannot kick a child out of public school because the parent said a few bad words.
I know its a silly thing, but it was bugging me.
Great episode though. I love that Catherine is kookoo. Gives me someone to root against ... and believe me I can't wait until Susan and Angie take her down.

I don't like crazy Katherine. I especially don't like delusional Susan. Mike was ready to marry her before a traumatic event changed his mind. Even if he really feels that he loves Susan more and should be with her, he very recently had very strong feelings for Katherine. I wouldn't jump into marriage with someone who changes his mind so fast.
And why is crazy Katherine also rude Katherine? Taking Angie's picture and demanding answers about it when she was clearly upset, then offering to fix it with cake was shocking behavior. Katherine wouldn't act like that if the writers would take the time to exposit in a believeable way.
Honestly, the Gaby and Angie storylines are the only ones that hold any interest for me this season.

KR,
The principal didn't kick Juanita out of school. She didn't even suspend her. Gaby pulled her out and the problem could be solved by bringing the kid back the very next school day.
