(S01E07) My wife bought me one of those giant weekly pill containers as a joke once. She even took my allergy medication and dispersed them across the different daily containers. Looking at it, though, made me think about that day in the future when I just might need to be taking a bin full of medication on a daily basis.Granted this revelation that Pierce carries one of these around with him shouldn't come as a real surprise. His age is a huge part of his character. That, and the pills were a major part of getting us where we needed to go in this episode for Pierce's arc. And Jeff's for that matter, but then again Jeff is at the center of everything, isn't he?
Speaking of which, is he really all that charming and good-looking? Maybe I don't see it because I'm a straight man. So tell me, if you're not, would Jeff's best moves and lines work for you the way they were working on the teacher this week, or are you more resistant to his affectations, like Britta?
The actors were clearly having a lot of fun in their Halloween costumes. Danny Pudi, in particular, was awesomely hilarious as Abed. I know he told Jeff that he knew he wasn't Batman, but where did he end the episode? Exactly!
Pierce as the Beastmaster was perfect, too. In his attempts to be hip and cool, he still missed the mark by twenty-five years or so. I wonder how many young viewers were as clueless as to who the Beastmaster was as Britta? Granted there was a TV series in the '90s, but still.
About the only thing that bothered me a bit was Abed pulling Pierce and Jeff from the tower of chairs and desks Pierce was planning to crush himself under. It was implausible, and it wasn't executed as well as it needed to be for me to suspend my disbelief. Of course, that could have been the point all along.
I'm glad to see the issues these characters are facing coming out more, so they can help one another work through them. Britta was able to use all that sensitivity ladies restroom etiquette she learned from Shirley a couple weeks back to help Shirley now with her relationship problems. Nice nod to Britta's deep-rooted feelings for Jeff by having her snap the head off of one of the teacher's trophies.
As for Jeff, man he is just one self-centered slimeball until the last 2-3 minutes of every episode. I guess that's consistency for you. I know some of you are for that, but I'd still like the formula mixed up a bit. Jeff's a selfish douchebag for the first 28 minutes, and then he realizes that he actually cares about these people and helps.
Granted, he did agree to go to Annie's party earlier in the episode, but that was as a direct result of her using the tears blackmail. All women have it, and Annie already knows it works on Jeff so she pulled out the heavy arsenal. That, or she's a bit unstable. My money's on a little of both.

I thought it was a fun episode overall. As aside, was Troy supposed to be Eddie Murphy from Delirious?

Best episode yet, and the best part was Batman/Abed pulling the guys to 'safety'. Abed is hilarious, but Pierce is awful. That character is a waste.
I hope they continue the Abed and Troy closings.

Great Ep... Abed as Batman was hysterical. I enjoy the Abed and Troy moments at the end of each... just wish my dvr would catch the whole thing, even with recording the office right after, it still misses a couple seconds.

Parks and Recreations follows Community, not The Office. So you should just set your DVR to record a couple minutes after Community to get the final ending.

i had a similar problem with Daily show/colbert crossover... so now i just set Daily Show to record an extra 30 minutes.
if you're watching all 4 anyway, why not set community to record an extra 90 min?

Best episode so far in my opinion, BUT I thought the Chevy Chase storyline once again seemed forced and that it dragged down the rest of the ep a bit.

Annie is almost like Sarah Chalke's character Ellior Reid on Scrubs. Same insicurity, same fears, same crazyness. I love them both :)

Okay, Abed had me rolling on the floor. This guy is awesome! And how cute was Britta in her squirrel costume?! Community is slowly growing on me... I really don't like Pierce though.

I don't mind Jeff being a jerk - that's who he's been since the beginning and that's who he'll always be. It is nice, though, that he does "save the day".
I particularly liked the exchange of dialogue between Jeff and Britta at the faculty party, with the stats Prof. a bit perplexed in the background.
I couldn't tell who Troy was supposed to be. And I don't know about the Beastmaster - and my guess is that the younger people of the group (Britta, Annie and Troy) don't either... maybe Abed would, since he is very much into pop culture.

Being 19 years of age, the only exposure I've had to Beastmaster is through one of those VH1 I Love the 90's things, so I wouldn't expect Troy or Annie to know who they are at the very least. Hasn't Britta stated in another episode that she doesn't own a tv?

Pierce's choice of the Beastmaster was hilarious, esp. since he never saw it. (I'm 19, but I've seen reruns of the series on SyFy. Also, mind blown when I realized Caine on Y&R was Dar)
The whole episode had me rolling. It may be a little formulaic, but the comedy, even when forced, is still some of the best outside of CBS's Monday line-up.
