TV Guide has released their list of shows that are safe for the rest of the season and those that are "on the bubble," the shows that are in danger of being canceled. There are a lot of shows on the latter list that aren't a surprise, such as Hank, Gary Unmarried, Cold Case, and The Forgotten (I'm surprised Cold Case even made it to another season).
But among the list of shows are a few that I didn't think were in danger, including Gossip Girl and Fringe. I know that Gossip Girl isn't a show that gets incredible ratings, but that describes The CW in general, and I figure that even if it gets low ratings it's sort of the network's signature show. As for Fringe, the ratings are a lot worse this season than last season, but it would still surprise me if the show went away, especially since it has its fan base and it's produced by JJ Abrams.
Any other shows on the list that surprise you?

While, I've been enjoying The Forgetten, I realize my time is limited. I though Law & Order was making a recovery from last year but I guess I'm wrong.

It wouldn't suprise me if Fox cancelled "Fringe". Fox doesn't treat thier sci-fi shows well at all. Why do they purchase so many sci-fi shows only to end up cancelling them? The last sci-fi show Fox ever had that didn't get cancelled was "The X-Files". That ended in what 2001? The question is why do they buy or accept so many sci-fi shows when thier goal seems to be to cancel them?

I watch from Canada and Fringe follows FlashForward here for me which is a perfect combo. They put Fringe up against Grey's Anatomy, CSI and the Office. I'm supporting Fringe because I know it needs it but normally I'd be watching Grey's, although last season really did put me off of that show!

I saw that yesterday too and was very surprised. Even TV Guide's description didn't seem to be reason enough to cancel the show. Maybe they just wanted to get our attention. I would think, if anything, they would put it back on Tuesday nights, not cancel the show.

Everyone hopes to dislodge CSI from #1 and that was Foxes hope for Fringe, but that is no reason to cancel the show. Fringe has something for everyone, unless you just don't like SciFi. It's a good show, but as usual, the good ones die young.

They need to move Fringe back to Wednesdays. Thursday is too overcrowded anyways. It is a solid solid show and really deserves more time.

Fringe is doing worse this season because FOX idiotically moved it to Thursdays. There are already way too many other popular shows on Thursdays; they should have left it on Tuesdays and let it keep/build its audience. It would be a real shame if they cancel it, as the show is only getting better.
FOX often scrambles the schedule when January comes around, so it may yet get moved again. But you have to wonder who is getting paid to implement their "throw it at the wall and see what sticks" programming strategy.

Once Fringe moved to Thursday, it came in third in the DVR lineup behind The Office/30 Rock and the Grey's Anatomy (wife's choice). I've been meaning to catch up watching it online but haven't gotten around to it. If it was on any other night, I'd be all over it.
I have the same problem with Fast Forward...
Just a brief rant about TV in general... I've basically quit watching new shows. It's not worth the trouble to get involved with a story and then have then have it moved/canceled.
Now, if a show makes it through a season, I just wait until it comes out on DVD and then rent/watch the whole series over a couple weeks.

Gah! If the network hadn't moved Fringe to Thursdays, it would still be doing well enough to get picked up for another season. (It doesn't help that last week and this week it was pre-empted by baseball.) Now on Thursdays there are WAY too many shows, and viewers have to decide what to watch on the TV and what to DVR. Personally, I watch FlashForward and then Fringe, and DVR Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. I wonder what the DVR stats are for Fringe. Networks are going to have to start paying attention to those. Frankly, I'm getting a bit fed up with having all the good shows canceled.

They should really move it to Tuesday - and while they are at it, why not move Dollhouse there as well. I watch no TV shows on Tuesdays (not a huge NCIS fan, nor do I enjoy watching people dance as the rest of America). I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. They might be surprised at how fast both shows recover given no competition.
Sure "V" will soon be there, but you only have to fight against them for four weeks.

Yeah, I don't know what else is on Tuesdays, but even my DVR is pretty much dead on that day.

My DVR is usually close to full at all times and this week I also realized I watch NOTHING on Tuesdays.

I don't think Fox will get rid of Fringe. Anna Torv is personally connected to Murdoch, and I'm getting the feeling this season that the producers actually know where they're taking this. Last season, it seemed they were trying to disguise the hard-core sci-fi aspects to make it a little more palatable to the masses. No more. It has shed its skin.

Best to move it to a different time slot. Networks can be so stupid with their shows. I despise getting involved with a new show and it being canceled. I love Fringe and Fast Forward. The Forgotten I watch online during the day when I am not busy at work.
