Pure brilliance. As one of the few who's managed to see The Flintstones: On The Rocks, I'm really saddened that I had to resort to less-legit means to do so. This was a great little movie (from the makers of Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack) that deserves to be seen by more people.

How is it like we have never seen him before if it aired in 01?

If memory serves, this section of the film was styled after the Flintstones Viewmaster reels. There were references to them in the publicity when it first aired.

I vaguely remember this - it was about the time when CN was showing some other experimental stuff, like the John K. Yogi Bear shorts and the first four segments of Interstella 5555 by Daft Punk and Leiji Matsumoto.
