Someone out there in TV land has been caught canoodling on the clock with a co-worker and gotten canned for it and sorry, all you "Fire David Letterman" fans, it wasn't the Late Show host. ESPN has fired Baseball Tonight's Steve Philips and Brooke Hundley, the staffer he was having an affair with who The New York Post dubbed as the "tubby temptress." That's The New York Post, putting the "object" in "objectivity" since 1993.
Speaking of treating women as objects, our own playa Joel Keller speculated in a piece for Asylum if the controversy with Philips has reached a higher fever pitch than David Letterman's because Philips' squeeze play is more "plain." Would you pay less attention to this latest TV host fling if the affair in question had more sprinkles on it?

I don't think her appearance had a hand in how this played out. Letterman had a lot of good will built up. Philips, to put it mildly, did not.
Either way, I'm just glad Philips is gone. He was terrible.

Letterman wasn't married when he did this, and runs his own production. There's a few other things Letterman has that Steve Philips doesn't.
Steve is married, and had a well-publicized affair when he was with the Mets, as well. And ESPN has plenty of hosts, and people who can be hosts, that the loss of one talking head isn't that big a deal.

Steve Phillips infidelity has cost him his marriage and his job. Both he and Brooke Hundley were fired. They made spectacles of themselves and caused major embarrassment to ESPN.
There are several lessons to be learned.
Workplace affairs are never a good idea. At least 20 things can go wrong. http://bit.ly/2HNUIV
Cheating men, before you hop in bed, find out what kind of woman you are dealing with, and what she may be capable of doing if things dont go her way. It may change your mind about cheating on your wife. A disgruntled mistress can ruin your life. http://bit.ly/ctOyK
Wives, for the safety and well being of yourself and your children, if your husband has a mistress, do a background check on her to see what kind of person she is. http://bit.ly/NRmhn

If everyone who had an affair was fired, unemployment would certainly be higher than 11%.
