Well, you sort of knew that this was coming, didn't you? The mother of balloon boy, Mayumi Heene, has admitted it was a hoax. The Heenes knew that Falcon wasn't in the balloon, that he was hiding in the garage. The entire boy in the balloon fiasco was a hoax from the get-go. Her court affidavit confirms what everyone has suspected. So, this was just another desperate attempt by the family to get on television. Honestly, have you ever heard anything so ridiculous?
I say that because if these parents have even a scintilla of sense, couldn't they have projected what was going to happen when the balloon came down? Couldn't they have seen that there was no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?
So now Mrs. Heene has fessed up that they weren't thinking of anything but how to become more marketable. I guess they envisioned the notoriety would land them a show like Jon and Kate, only Mayumi wouldn't have to have five more kids! Or maybe there would be commercial endorsements or a Nickelodeon series. Perhaps to them the skies were the limit.
There was no limit to the way they were using their kids. Mayumi said in court documents that... "She and Richard had instructed their three children to lie to authorities as well as the media regarding this hoax."
It's got to be some kind of home life for those children now. Up till now, Richard has insisted that this was not a staged event. Now, is wife has contradicted him. Will Richard continue to say it was real when she says it wasn't? Will the kids back up mom or dad? No wonder Falcon threw up on Today when asked about what happened. I feel a little nauseous just reading about this business.

The fact that the kid threw up more than once when interviewed makes it that much sadder. The poor kid couldn't take the stress. To ask your kid to lie like that is wrong and feels like a form of abuse. SHAME ON THEM. They're getting notoriety now but I really hope they get karmic payback if not legal ramifications. What kind of parent does that? It's selfish and wrong on so many levels. I sort of hope that they lose their children because they don't deserve them and the children would be better off with other people but I also don't want the children to suffer emotionally by being ripped from their family. That's a horrible position that Mr. and Mrs. Heene got themselves into.

A kid who spews vomit when he is forced to lie! That's reality TV gold!
Seriously, anyone who has ever intentionally watched a reality show is party responsible for what the Heene family has done. If/when they get charged with a crime, everyone who has so much as watched five minutes of asinine shows like: The Real Housewives of ____, ___ing with the Stars, Celebrity ____, ____ Kardashians, ____ Idol, etc is a coconspirator and accessory before the fact in the aforementioned crime(s). Tens of millions of people deserve to be locked up with the Heenes.

Anyone with an elementary knowlege of physics and a pocket calculator was able figure out on day one that the balloon could not have lifted the kid off the ground much less to 8,000 feet. The media were obsessed with keeping this story going rather than have it being ruined by the facts. The parents need to be prosecuted and make full restitution and the kids need to be sent off to live with normal relatives - if any exist in that family.

Someone should just off the parents and put the kids in a foster home. They'd be much better off.

The sad thing is they probably WILL end up getting a reality show now. They've already succeeded in part - they got on TV. now they just need to get paid for it. People with far less media attention have gotten reality shows, and at this point there are no new ideas for reality shows so all that's left is following around a different pseudo-celebrity. What crazy antics will the wacky Heene family concoct next? Tune in to NBC's new reality show "The Heenes" and find out!
It will get better ratings than Dollhouse.

Sure give them a show. We can watch dad go to jail and mom fight the state to keep the kids. The money could be split between a college fund for the kids and paying back the state for all the trouble they caused.

You know, it is sad, but when I heard the little boy became ill during an interview. My first thought was that the father had given him something to make him feel sick.
Because they knew the thing was going to fall apart and figured having the kid get sick would distract everyone from investigating the family.
I did the math fairly quickly and with in the first 30 minutes I knew there was no one in the balloon. So after that it was just a wait until they find where the kid was hiding. Thought they would do better though. Have an accomplice hide the boy about a mile away, rough him up a bit so it looks like he fell out.
Really if they have just given it some more thought they could have pulled it off.
Instead they just proved old and new media is easily distracted by something shinny.
