There's been plenty of talk the past week about a former cast member of Lost who might not be coming back to the island for the ABC show's last season. By process of elimination and a little detective work, some thought that the person who didn't want to come back to the show was Harold Perrineau, who played Michael. He left the show once, came back later, and then was killed off in a boat explosion. After that he didn't have many nice things to say about the producers or the show. But you can forget about all that talk, because Perrineau says that he would love to come back to the show for the last season but he hasn't been asked yet. As for all that stuff about not liking his time on the show or holding a grudge against the producers, he says he loved his time on the show, loves the cast, and there are no hard feelings.
So that leaves things up in the air as to which cast member doesn't want to come back. There have already been confirmations or rumors that severeal cast members are coming back to the show, since it looks like they're resetting the timeline in some way, and that list includes former Lost cast members Dominic Monaghan, Ian Somerhalder, Greg Grunberg, Maggie Grace, Daniel Roebuck, and maybe even Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
Maybe you can ask Damon Lindelof.

Pretty sure Ausiello already said it was the French Woman.

Question: Is Emilie de Ravin going to be back on Lost for the whole season or just a few episodes? And will we get to see what happened to her? —Jared
Ausiello: The answer to both of your questions is a resounding yeppers. Better prepare yourself though. My Lost mole says season 6 will showcase “a version of Claire we’ve never seen before — a Rousseau-esque version.” We’ll be in need of a Rousseau fix since the real version will be MIA. According to a Lost insider, the French Lady’s portrayer, Mira Furlan, turned down the show’s request to return for the final season due to a “prior overseas commitment.” Anyone know how you say “big bag-o-nuts” in français?

I read somewhere along the line that it's the actress that played Danielle Rousseau that said no to the invite for the last season. If it's her, I wouldn't think that would affect the season too badly. It must be hard to write though if it's a bigger player that turns down the invite request to come back.

Looking at the credits on IMDB for the first episode of season six, I see listed: Maggie Grace, Daniel Roebuck and Ian Somerhalder.
But than again, IMDB ain't the most trustworthy site for this kind of information.

I had also read that it was Rousseau, but I didn't think it was that didn't want to come back versus a scheduling issue.

Mira Furlan, formerly Delenn of Babylon 5, made it very clear a a couple of years back that she hates having to travel to and live in Hawaii for the show. That's why Danielle turned into a teenager last season and why we won't be seeing her again. It's really a shame because I think she's a great actress who brought a lot to the role.

It's not Somerhalder, he's already filmed stuff for the upcoming season. Adewale has said he'd love to come back.
