When you want to up the ante on a drama, create a great villain. To this day, the best James Bond movies have always been the ones with great villains. Fox's sci-fi drama Fringe is buying into that theory, because they've gone out and hired an actor who excels at playing evil. Fringe has cast Sebastian Roche in a recurring role as a new nemesis. If you saw Roche on General Hospital, you know he's brilliant. His Fringe character doesn't have a name yet -- and least not one that they've released -- but the storyline is that he's from another dimension, not entirely human or android, and he's on a mission. He's a soldier who's supposed to collect data to open a "stable door to the other side."
Could it be an alternate universe? A parallel dimension? Some kind of time warp? The possibilities are wide open when it comes to Fringe.
As I said, in Sebastian Roche they've got a really excellent actor. He was briefly on 24 last season, but didn't get a chance to talk much. He was simply an assassin. A very good assassin, but one without much dialogue. On General Hospital, however, he was given loads of lines. Here's a montage of Roche's GH experience:
Jerry Jacks, was GH's suavest villain ever. Whether using the moniker James Craig or Mr. Brosnan, the Bondian connections (Daniel Craig, Pierce Brosnan) were clear, and they worked. Except Jerry was never a hero. He won't be one on either.
By the way, Roche is replacing Thomas Kretschmann, who appeared in the October 8 episode. He wasn't able to continue in the role because of schedule conflicts.

Come on, his name has to be The Omega Man, that is really what that symbol was.

I know Sebastian Roche from Odyssey 5. This was a great show that was canceled too soon (after the first season). Never saw it when it was on TV (didn't have Showtime then) but rented the DVDs. He is quite good in that show as sort of an amoral scientific type. Looking forward to his appearance on Fringe. I'm sure he'll do a bang-up job.
