Reality is not relative when it comes to television. Reality television, my friends, is here to stay. So when I let you know that GSN will air Carnie Wilson: Unstapled, a new reality show starring the former singer from Wilson Phillips and the host of The Newlywed Game, you shouldn't be surprised. At least not about another celebrity reality program. The fact that it's going to be on GSN -- that's the Game Show Network -- however, that's a bit of a shocker.GSN has fallen in love with Carnie Wilson. Kelly Goode, GSN senior vice president for original programming and development, gushed about CW, saying, "Carnie is incredibly funny and earthy. ... She's a personality the viewers have fallen in love with. And she's a hit on The Newlywed Game.
The net believes viewers will be interested in watching Carnie in her real life as a TV personality, the daughter of a famous musician (Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys is her father), a wife and mother of two -- Luci and Lola -- and, one more angle, she's trying to lose 50 pounds of "baby weight." And she won't have Jillian Michaels by her side.
I happen to like Carnie Wilson. I think she is personable and funny and I'd be curious about her life to watch Unstapled... but first I have to find GSN on DirecTV. It's not one of the channels I'm going to very often, if at all. I would have more faith in Carnie's show being successful if she was doing it on Bravo.
Carnie's Unstapled will debut in January... on GSN.

Looks like all that money for a lapbelt operation and skin-tightening went to waste... she got chubby again. That said, she DOES have a beautiful face and nice smile. (Always lookin' on the bright side, that's me alright!)

You'd think CW would be a natural on the CW.

I have always liked CW, despite her 'chubbie' nomer. Watching her iterative weight loss through exercise, diet, and then stomach stapling has been interesting, particularly considering she didn't track such extreme measures during her fame's height. Clearly, she had her stomach 'unstapled,' so I'm interested in learning the health risks of first, stapling and then, unstapling, and dealing with the possible difficulties during pregnancy, if she decides to discuss it.
