Following the season six premiere of American Chopper on Thursday at 9 PM (I sure hope those squabbling Teutuls can work things out), TLC is premiering a new pilot titled Heavy Haulers at 10 PM. That picture sort of says it all, doesn't it? In addition to the logistics of moving such a huge piece of machinery, I'm wondering how you even get into the thing once you get where you're going.
The show sounds pretty amazing. According to a press release that landed in my inbox, Heavy Haulers follows a superstructure moving company run by Jeremy Patterson, his wife Tonya, 12-year-old son Greg, and 9-year-old daughter Ashley. The family built the business from the ground up and moves more than 350 structures each year. How would you even get into a business like this? You'd have to dream big, in more ways than one.
As far as what they move, we're talking mansions, trains, planes, churches, and even ships, sometimes hundreds of miles over treacherous terrain. The pilot episode features the family's attempt to move a 400-ton brick mansion five miles across Iowa during extreme weather conditions. I'll definitely have to check this out.

It does look like a fun show. And for your info; the way you get into the big ass truck, there is a STAIRCASE on the front (no, really).

I'm in that business, and putting 2 separate vehicles under one load is about a low-tech as you can get.
Have a look at this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/43328154@N08/sets/72157622496708403/

Watching Heavy Haulers featuring Jeremy Patterson and his family. Hey Jeremy, pull your head out of your ass. Try playing with your kids instead of using them as child labor. You'll regret it in the future. Your kids can learn the family business when they're older. Right now, they are just kids. TLC, you should know better than to feature this family.

Well lets see, use your kids as child labor hugh. Well I know them and you need to know what you are talking about before you just go and blast someone. His son loves it and wants nothing more than to go out and do it. Its what he likes to do. I worked with my father when I was young and other relatives to. They were not using it as child labor I wanted to be there. So know what you are talking about before just going off.

Sorry just couldn't stand that 12 year old brat whining when he didn't get his way. Oh yea and dad wanting more butter on the popcorn then wonders why he has chest pains. I'll pass on this show.

It is easy to judge, but I personally am impressed by the amazing feats featured on this show. I am equally impressed that Jeremy Patterson remains such a dedicated family man, dispite the incredibly stressful situations he faces on a daily basis. Bravo TLC - a great and REAL reality show.
