HBO has added another cast member to its upcoming Game of Thrones pilot, based on George R.R. Martin's fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire. Stargate Atlantis alum Jason Momoa has been cast as Drogo, a powerful warlord who has never been defeated in battle. This sounds like the perfect role for the hulking 6' 4" actor, best known as SGA's resident Wraith killin' badass, Ronon Dex. Hopefully, Momoa's potential Game of Thrones schedule won't keep him from appearing in the proposed Stargate Atlantis DVD movie/telefilm.
Momoa reportedly went all out to get the role of Drogo. According to Sci Fi Wire, the Hawaiian-born actor impressed the Game of Thrones producers by performing a traditional Maori dance called a "haka" during his audition, because he thought it would suit the character.
Game of Thrones is shaping up to be one of the must-see new pilots for genre/fantasy fans. The large cast includes genre-friendly actors Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Sean Bean, Jennifer Ehle, Jack Gleeson, Peter Dinklage and Harry Lloyd. X-Men Origins: Wolverine scribe David Benioff is reportedly co-writing the pilot with D.B. Weiss.

I've been secretly hoping that this guy would get cast in the new live action Star Wars show as Quinlan Vos ( http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Quinlan_Vos ). Apparently that's not going to happen.
