Take that, NBC! When the word leaked yesterday that the performers from Glee had been uninvited to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade because the folks at NBC didn't want to give the Fox show a national platform to strut their stuff, plenty of people thought it was a low blow. Well, something else has come along that's just as big a national stage. On October 31, the Glee cast will sing the National Anthem at the World Series. That's game three, and it'll be a chance for the singers to put their own unique spin on "The Star Spangled Banner."
Of course there was no conflict with the World Series because Fox -- which produces Glee -- is broadcasting the games. In years past, Fox has used the games to promote their stars and television shows, putting them in box seats and flashing their faces in between innings or balls and strikes. Believe me, the TV stars got almost as much air time as the ball players.
I'm expecting a dynamic version of the National Anthem from the Glee singers. With choreography! Although you don't want to do too much moving around to a song like that because there's not much of a beat unless you have a marching band. However, if there's anything the Glee people have proven in the episodes this season, they are very creative. It's going to be good.
As for NBC, they have egg on their proverbial faces. They look bad for dissing Fox and Glee, especially since the network has let Fox faces in the parade in the past. If NBC thought they were doing themselves a favor by acting petty and small, well... they were wrong.

Even though it's well within NBC's rights to do what they did and you can't exactly blame them for doing it (since it seems all of their new shows aren't exactly burning up the ratings or buzz charts), they DO have eggs on their faces since this story just caught fire and made them look bad (while everyone sympathizing with the Glee kids).

Just one question - can the cast of "Glee" actually sing? I know a few of the cast members have performed professionally, but much of what shows up on TV looks to be lipsyncing.

I love Glee, but I am not in love with this idea. Last year, both the Phillies and the Rays had professional recording artists sing the national anthem that grew up in their respective towns. It was a great. The organizations should have the right to decide who sings the anthem. By making it to the World Series they have earned that right.
I wonder how much Fox payed Bud Selig for this commercial? That is exactly what the cast of Glee singing the national anthem is, a commercial. Bud has sold the national anthem for money. Just another greedy action on his part.

Someone PLEASE get word to Glee that The National Athem is not something that artists should be doing with their own style! Sing it like it was written. I'm sick of hearing it jazzed up. No dancing either, show some respect. Sadly lacking these days.

1. There was no way Fox was not going to have at least one of the cast member sing the National Anthem some time during the series. It's Fox they will pimp there shows.
2. Glee more often than not sticks with the origanl and doesn't mess around with it too much.
3. They won't be dancing to it.
4. Most that are complaining probably haven't seen the show or they would know that they are all good singers, two of them I would say are great singers.
4. If it is the Yankees and one of the LA times - then hey your set there. Two of them are New Yorkers, one is form La dn they are reside in La now.

Fox pays a ton of money to do the World Series, I wonder how much NBC pays for the parade? I guess NBC can find a replacement group that can promote the Obama take over of the Health care system.

Several of the cast members of "Glee" have been in Broadway musicals -- Lea Michelle & M. Morrison were nominated for Tony Awards -- so they are very good singers. I'd rather see them do the National Anthem than anyone who has ever been on American Idol.
