I'm not sure how this is going to change the show (though a show with freaky sponge/squirrel mutant children might be interesting), but SpongeBob SquarePants is getting married! Yes, the yellow square will finally tie the knot with the lady squirrel in the bowl, Sandy.Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive sneak peek of the SpongeBob wedding. Guests will include Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais, LeBron James, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Will Ferrell, Craig Ferguson, and Rosario Dawson!

I have a spongebob tatoo on my forearm. My son picked it out for me years ago, and now he wants me to cover it up... I won't though.

I am glad SB is taking the plunge into marriage. This is a great marketing move for the show to take away all the resentment against him as a queer. Cartoons really are our only avenue to the children's mind to instill good and bad values. SB has always been a good but simple minded cartoon that tries to always do the right things but his retarded ways normally caused him to stumble. I also know the SB movie was a flop...maybe the marriage will shed new light on the sponge ass dweeb. I guess he can always serve as a contraceptive if all else fails!

Cartoons really are our only avenue to the children's mind to instill good and bad values? Thank you for that Frank. Here I was, believing that if I was a good parent who instilled good values in my children, was a positive role model for them and taught them right from wrong then I was on the right track. Now I know I should completely remove myself from the equation and turn on cartoons. Hear that people. I no longer want to hear about how single parenthood is a detriment to our children. According to Frank, if these kids have access to the right cartoons they’ll be just fine.

Um, Frank, your use of the word "queer" is very offensive and politically incorrect. It's 2009, just so you know.

Oh...why does every show, cartoon or not, have a jump the shark moment? This cartoon sponge does not need to get married. It's a cartoon. Spongebob is fine living in the sea with his friends and his occasional visits from the squirel who needs oxygen is fine too. They recently changed Dora, now this. I remember when cartoons was just cartoons - fun, silly, enjoyable. Let kids be kids, folks.

I find this to be so funny and cute. First of all, Patrick and Spongebob are not gay. So people please stop trying to label them. The creator of Spongebob has always said he was asexual. If you watched the movie (as some of you might have with your kids) Patrick fell in love with the Princess Mindy. Clearly showing that Patrick is not gay. Has anyone heard of bromance? I love this cartoon and I watch all the new episodes with my daugther who loves this too. When she saw previews for Sponge and Sandy (the squirrel) she was excited. Why do adults always have to ruin kids fun? Seriously, why?

I have 3 kids, so our TV is on Nick 24/7, and I always thought SB had a crush on Sandy. Look at all he's done to impress her (tried to breathe air in the Tree Dome, ripped his pants repeatedly, and tried everything to keep up with her pre-hibernation week). That being said, I don't think the wedding will happen. Maybe it will be a dream sequence or something.
