I was looking forward to Matthew Perry's new Showtime show The End of Steve, a drama about a radio talk show host. Unfortunately, Showtime wasn't looking forward to it as much as I was and didn't pick up the show.Instead, Perry is going to produce, co-write, and star in a new comedy about a sports arena manager who finds himself thinking about where his life is at after he turns 40. Fans of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and The West Wing (two other shows that Perry was in) will be interested to know that Thomas Schlamme will be involved in the show too as director and co-producer.
Now we just need Allison Janney or Richard Schiff to join him (Bradley Whitford is going to be busy with his own show).
No word on how this will affect any possible Friends reunion (TV critics are contractually obligated to mention a Friends reunion in every post related to one of the cast members).

Could that BE any better? I like Matt Perry and I enjoyed Studio 60 (apparently I was the only one)... I'll tune in for sure.

Mathew Perry wasn't in West Wing. Bradley Whitford was, but not Mathew Perry

Darn it, I looked at least 3 times for West Wing under his profile, but I was thinking that it he had been on West Wing it would have been after he was done with Friends.

Yeah, but -
"Fans of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and The West Wing (two other shows that Perry was in)...."
He was in 3 episodes of a show that was on 7 seasons. It would be stretching things to say he guest-starred even. Yet Mr. Sassone worded it like he was slotted for much more.
I can't blame anyone for being confised.

I liked the premise of "Steve" better, but hopefully this will wind up somewhere I can watch it. Tommy being involved definately boosts its appeal.
Isn't Schiff busy with a series of his own too?
