Eastwick: Madams and Madames
(S01E03) Eastwick is definitely getting more interesting, even though my husband came in during the last half, said he was creeped out, and promptly declared the show a "dragedy." I think that's a step up from last week when he called it "dribble" (or "drivel" - either one works).

The fact that Roxie kept seeing a dead Gus at every turn was a little creepy. Hey, all she needed to say was "I'm sorry," and he'd go away. Since "screw you" didn't work, she finally made the right call at the end, when she went with her daughter to return something of Gus's to his mom. Then Gus the ghost disappeared.

Hmmm ... I wouldn't have minded him sticking around for another episode or two; maybe Roxie could have found a way to torture him a little more for almost raping her daughter. Oh wait, he's dead, so there's that. Anyway, I'm guessing there will be more ghosts in this show.

It's fun seeing the witches (I guess that's what they are, according to John Updike anyway, and he should know), continue to discover and hone their individual powers. We've got Joanna using her mind powers to get out of trouble, like when she snapped a photo of the pastor at the whorehouse (where she ended up thanks to Darryl); Roxie seeing Gus all over the place (funny scene with the fake spirit-caller getting "choked" up); and Kat inadvertently making the swimming pool bubble up when she and her loser hubby were making out, then grow ice cold when they fought. She totally needs to ditch that guy.

Darryl is growing on me, too. He's still a skank and, ok, most of what he does is for his own gain -- like sending Joanna to the whorehouse, because he knew he'd get his land for the brewery. I hope they string out him and Roxie getting together for a few episodes. That chemistry needs to grow a little.

Is Bun a witch? She's been drawing that crazy symbol and was in the old photograph with Darryl; and when he burned the photo, her symbol sketches burst into flames. That was creeptastic.

Other Stuff:

The pastor saying he knows the truth about Darryl: "... he's evil ... he chills me to the bone ... he must be stopped..." Really, though, how much can you believe a pastor who hangs out, literally, at a whorehouse?

Darryl's words to Joanna when she tried using her mind-power to find out who he is and what he's doing there: "You don't want to know." I think we already do and if the witches don't know yet, well, they're just stupid.

Darryl's divorce attorney's business card, which keeps showing up at Kat's house, even though she keeps throwing it away. Hmmm ... what does Darryl gain from that?

"Would you like to drive me to the mental institution yourself, or should I take my own car?" Roxie to Kat and Joanna, after telling them about seeing Gus. Some of the lines are pretty funny.

Joanna saying Kat wouldn't stand a chance (in her red dress) if she was in college and had the Indigo Girls on her iPod.

"Ladywood."

WWNDD: "What would Nancy Drew do?"

And I'll leave you with this:

"I'm going to hell, aren't I?" - Roxie
"I can think of worse places to spend eternity ... Los Angeles, for instance." - Darryl
