While a lot of ABC soap fans are flipping out about Thorsten Kaye's exit from All My Children, and others are giddy about James Franco bringing his movie star luster to General Hospital, there's more big news coming about those soaps. First, the original Lucky, Jonathan Jackson, is returning to General Hospital after 10 years off the show. And the original Greenlee, Rebecca Budig, is coming back to All My Children after leaving the show in March 2009.Both these returns are exciting... and fraught with drama. While Jonathan is a three-time Emmy-winner and a superb Lucky -- he originated the role -- his choosing to resume the part means that Greg Vaughan has been dumped.
To be really, really honest, Greg was a great looking Lucky, but he never had a good grasp on the character of Lucky.
As Luke's son, Lucky has to have some personality and spark. Jackson did even as a little boy. Vaughan never did. Reportedly, Anthony Geary -- Lucky's on screen dad -- is ecstatic to have Jonathan back as a scene partner.
Over at All My Children, Rebecca's return is a major coup. The character left in a fiery motorcycle accident -- the body was never found so she was presumed dead, naturally -- and that left the love of her life, Ryan, bereft. Lately, Ryan's been involved with Erica, you know the cougar love thing. Now, with Budig back, will Greenlee be ripping Ryan right out of Erica's arms?
It's all really exciting and should help pump up the ratings during November sweeps.

Budig's came back before, remember ABC's the original Greenlee is back promo's? What happened? She came back to no story and stayed a year. Big whoop! AMC is in such horrible shape now that even Budig's coming back can't help it. This show needs a new head writer pronto! They can move the show to LA but they can't replace the head writer? Yes, the same one who was there for her last return. yawn.
As for GH, they're Lucky indeed to get Jackson back. He was superb as Lucky years ago and I'll be curious to see his interpretation of Lucky as an adult, not teen. Yet, GH hasn't written Lucky well since Jackson imo. So hopefully, we'll see the writers be inspired. lol
Franco's going to be a 'watch and see what happens.' Soaps have pages to go thru a day and shoot an ep in a day. Can he adapt? That's his challenge. I can't wait to see. With soaps, it's the small things. It's being able to be present in the scene and bring it! Just having a 'big star' on set is not enough.
Vieweres will tune in, but the writers have to keep them tuning in. Without story, no one's going to stay to check them out. imo

I think that Mr. Vaughn deserve's better comments than the put-downs said earlier. He has played a tremendously complicated character with solid professionlism and what a FOCUSED ACTOR HE is. He show's realistic sensitivity when the scene requires it. He also has that bad boy edge that spices up his scenes with other cast members. I'd vote for him anytime. We love him and we want to keep him.

Kudos to Greg Vaughan. He is the only Lucky that I have known and I think that he is great! Maybe is isn't the same as the original actor, but I beleive that he did a great job! I have great admiration for him and I, for one, am very disappointed that he will not be on the show any longer.
As far as the original Lucky coming back, I will wait to see how that goes. He does not look the part of Lucky to me just by his picture, but I am waiting to see him first. He does look way too young from the pictures I have seen so far. Waiting to see how it turns out.
As for Greg, I will really miss him oh GH and I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

I am THRILLED that JJ is coming back to play Lucky!! I'm sorry, but GV, (as hot as he is) NEVER was Lucky, I wish him luck though, I'm sure he'll find another role soon.
As for RB coming back as the "orginal" Greenlee?? STUPID, I wish she'd stayed DEAD!! Ryan's NOT the love of her life, LEO was. I only liked Greenlee when she was with Leo, otherwise, she's a spoiled, whiny, brat and I was glad she left. If AMC thinks her return is going to bring up ratings, they are more stupid than I thought they were!!

I think it stinks that they got rid of Greg Vaughan, not only is he so much better looking than the guy that's coming back, but he has great chemistry with Elizabeth and he is a great actor. That is not fair to Greg. I hope that Greg ends up on All My Children or Days Of Our Lives, then I can enjoy his work again everyday. Good luck Greg.

Instead of trucking AMC to LA,why not bring GH to NYC where Port Charles is spposed to be a fictional NEW YORK town. Look at Ugly Betty,they moved to New York from LA. I think it will be the death knell for AMC. I have never gotten into ABC soaps;it was always NBC;The Doctors,Days and Another World. Days is awful now;stopped watching it when Marlena levitated years ago. Now it seems that the Young and Restless is one of the better soaps.

AMC fans are not necessarily Rebecca Budig's fans. There was tons of applause when she left (even in a motorcycle going over a cliff in a wedding gown). We are especially not interested when this will be the third time around for her Greenlea. Obviously, TPTB ddin't hear the applause. To think that they allow Thorsten Kaye to slip through their fingers and boast about re-signing her shows how out of touch ABC is with their viewing public.

Just to let you know, they didn't let Thorsten Kaye slip through their fingers, he is choosing not to relocate to LA with the show. His longtime girlfriend, Susan Haskell, plays Marty on OLTL and she and their two children wouldn't be able to go with him. AMC gave all the actors a choice, but TK chose his family over the show.

I AGREE WITH YOU 100% ON GREENLEES RETURN. WHEN SHE RETURN IN JANUARY '08? SHE HAD BEEN NOTHING BUT A BORING ANNOYING PERSON. I THINK THE ACTRESS THAT TOOK OVER THE ROLE BEFORE THE "REAL" GREENLEE CAME BACK WAS BETTER ACTUALLY. SHE HAD MORE DEPTH AND PERSONALITY. REBECCA WAS GREAT AS GREENLEE.....WHEN SHE WAS THE BITCHY SOCIALITE THAT WAS INTRODUCED IN '97 OR '98.
AS FOR THORSTEN KAYE LEAVING.......I THINK THE CHARACTER REALLY NEEDS TO GO AT THIS POINT. KENDALL CHEATS ON HIM OVER EVERY LITTLE FART, AND HE'LL BE MAD FOR A WEEK OR TWO, AND THEN DECLARE HIS LOVE FOR HER ALL OVER AGAIN. I LIKED THE KENDALL/ZACK PAIRING UP UNTIL SHE SLEPT WITH AIDEN. JJ IS Lucky...BUT...the way that GH just dismissed GV was so very wrong-he deserved a lot more respect in his dismissal than he got. Kind of seems unfair because JJ is the one who chose to leave the show and now GV gets dumped for JJ's return. But I supposed that is what happens in the world of soaps. I just don't like the way that GV was let go. That said, I'm thrilled JJ is back. Perhaps it will be easier for me to see Liz and Lucky together-Lucky was always kind of a skinny, young kid when JJ played him. Then Jacob Young stepped and and eventually GV and suddenly Lucky was this 'beefcake'...LOL. I hope they do right with the character of Lucky and I can't wait to see JJ work with Tony Geary again. And it's certainly not going to be hard on the eyes to watch James Franco either! GH=please don't screw this show up!

As for AMC, I also dvr it and ff through most of it, I can't stand Erica and Ryan, dude she's your son's grandmad! I also hate how everyone is allowed to break the law and Jesse is just fine with it. The writers clearly think we are all stupid and have absolutely no knowledge of the law.
Greenlee is coming back again, who cares? I hope when they kill her off this time she stays dead, I'm kind of sick of these returns from the dead.
