I've just learned from a source at Comedy Central that Krod Mandoon and The Flaming Sword of Fire will not return be returning for a second season. Now, I'm sure this wasn't anyone's favorite show, and there won't be too many online petitions for its return. But I was fond of it, and was hoping it would get a chance to grow a bit more. For one thing, a fantasy comedy was a departure for Comedy Central's schedule. It was a little island of oddity amongst the more modern-looking programming, a pleasant change of pace. I also enjoyed the crew of supporting characters. Mandoon himself was kind of the standard altruistic oaf, but there was plenty of room for development, especially learning the others.
Mandoon was broad enough to be able to fit accommodate Kevin Hart, a stand-up comedian from Def Comedy Jam and Superhero Movie, Little Britain's Matt Lucas, and Run, Fatboy, Run's India de Beaufort. Although Lucas probably wouldn't have served as a long term nemesis with so many other projects to tend to, it would have been interesting to see a new enemy every season tailored to a new quest, someone who could step in for a six-episode arc. Perhaps Anthony Head could have been pried away from Merlin (if it continued past its own first season), or someone like Dana Carvey, who hasn't had much luck lately but would be wonderful in something like this.
For now, you can still see clips and deleted scenes on the Comedy Central Web site. As a remembrance for a quirky little show that died before its time, here's Lucas as the evil Dongalor.

So will they still produce new episodes for BBC2?

Old news. But Krod may get a reprieve if the BBC/Hat Trick find another co-financier. Comedy Central pulling out isn't good, but it's not a definitive death-blow... yet.

I laughed multiple times per episode. It wasn't a bad show, but it's not at all surprising that no one watched it.

I watched it once, then promptly forgot to watch it again. Maybe this should have been on Spike, instead of those endless reruns of CSI?

It was funny--it's too bad we won't get to see more.

I didn't like it at first, but I think it did get better. That being said, I had already deleted from my DVR because I didn't think there was a chance that it was coming back.

It was kind of iffy, but I'll give anything with Matt Lucas a shot. Most people I know won't be crying over it's demise.
In regards to Merlin, the second season is already showing in the UK and rumours are floating about that a third will be greenlit.

It was clever and anachronistic in its humor, reminded me alot of the also short-lived comedy in the '70s: "When Things Were Rotten".

This was one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long, long, long time. A biclops ffs! Hilarious! I just got done reading another article saying how bad Krod was and saying it couldn't be as funny as the great Futurama in the sci-fi comedy department. What a joke. Futurama is funny and this isn't?!? Really sad there isn't a second season.

i can't say i'll miss the show, but it was pretty decent. Especially when compared to some of the crap out there. i had the advantage of having it on my "on demand" so i watched each episode a few different times and it was something that got better if watched again, but you have to like that kind of cheeky humor too.
