Tom DeLay to quit Dancing with the Stars tonight

Tom DeLay and Cheryl Burke
People Magazine has gotten the news that Tom DeLay will officially be dropping out of Dancing with the Stars tonight. His double stress fractures were finally too much to bear. I have sneaking suspicion that Tom got enough votes to survive into next week and was strongly advised to quit.

Quitting is the classiest thing for Tom DeLay to do at the moment. He probably wouldn't survive another week and Cheryl would have to tip-toe around choreography next week. This also gives yet another a second chance for Debi Mazar and Michael Irvin to prove themselves.

The real question is whether or not DWTS will continue with the eliminations tonight. Since production has already planned out three double-eliminations this season, they may just get rid of one and use the withdrawal to their advantage. This will mess up their plans for the dreaded dance-off they introduced last season. I guess we'll have to tune in and find out.

If you're hoping that this isn't the only injury-based drama to fell a celebrity, don't worry. Lots of injuries have already been mentioned: Aaron Carter is suffering from a knee injury , Lacey Schwimmer has a strained hip, Debi Mazar had a neck injury in week one that may flare up again, and early on Mya had to get stitches.
